There are limits really, the "extreme" items are what would tend to cause the most drama, like Hydra Haubert and Shadow Ring (as the OP mentioned).

I have been in alot of shells where it has been the case and has ended up causing drama (RDM lotting Crimson Legs over a PLD, RNG lotting Ridill over a WAR etc), though admittedly, thats often more down to player attitude than anything else.

So yeah, while the WAR may have been doing nothing really wrong, hes still a bit of a jackass and a loot whore, which is the gamble you take when you set the rules to Open Lotting.

I want to sympathize with the PLD. I really do.

Except, you know the shit you sign up for. If you don't like it, then you leave; or you put up with it. If you don't know the shit you sign up for, then you give tacit consent to the rules, which is even worse.

It should have gone to the PLD. The WAR is quasi-lootwhoreish and the DRK definitely is lootwhoreish. There's no real denying these facts. The fact that they can't look beyond their 0s and 1s to be l33t is sad; when it is clearly an item that benefits one class more than the other two. It's almost insulting on Squenix's part to design something like this.

But... you know the shit you sign up for. I simply cannot feel bad for a PLD who didn't get it when they knew what rules were in place beforehand.

you guys are forgetting, there is no drama at all in the ls. This is something that was blown into a 50 megaton thermo-nuclear explosion once it was posted here, when, back at home on DB forums, noone but Neosutra gave a shit.

The PLD's that were there don't care, more are gonna drop since we farm the zone.
The guy that won it dosen't care, since he was entitled to the item.

The PLD's don't need sympathy for something they haven't given a second thought to.

Back many many pages, ruke said it best. It's not about the rules, it's about courtesy and decency. If i had the lotting rights to a novia, im not going to lot it over a BLM, that's just selfish and greedy. Before haidate, I would use the trousers for certain things during TP time. I would then sub in AFv2 during WS. Barone has it's limits honestly...

Everytime I see shit like this, I love my LS lotting rules more and more. Every member sets tiers on their jobs, and every item has a Job Priority attached to them. If a PLD Priority item drops, unless all PLDs 75 have it, the Second Priority job for that item (in this case, WAR) cant lot it. If you are a tier 1 PLD, and there is someone else who also has PLD, but put it as his tier 2 job, you lot first. Simple as that. No drama and you dont have to expect decency from douchebags.
It's not the WAR's fault, nor the PLD's, the DRK is a fag, but the person currently leading the LS should have prevented this and settled better estabilished rules. It doesnt matter if your LS can clear all zones if in the end of the day the gear (which is the reason most people do dynamis, to begin with) is wasted.

My dynamis shell is an open one with people from multiple linkshells, and we are among the most succesful on the server, much like the LS being discussed here.

We would never give that to a WAR over a PLD, just like we don't hand shadow items to fucking mages. If anything, having people from multiple HNMs should make everyone completely understand that a certain level of job priority is obvious.

The WAR in question was a lootwhore, plain and simple, and leaders dropped the ball by not growing a pair and making a decision. You can't follow rules blindly, there are situations where you have to look beyond what you wrote up as rules ages past.

Your mistake to make, of course, but it certainly was a mistake.

very similar to the one we used. we had a 3 tier priority system. if a priority 2 job had a significant point lead (equal to the value of the item itself) over priority 1, then he/she could get it (ie haidate was priority 1 NIN, priority 2 MNK etc), but a priority 3 job would never get over a priority 1 job, and unlisted would only get in a freelot situation.

Haubert woulda been priority 1 PLD, priority 3 WAR.

I can't believe I actually read through this mind numbing post but I'll make some comments.

First off, bashing some random guy who you don't know, who didn't even post in the thread, and wasn't even mentioned by anyone on our server is just dumb. But then again, that's BG for you.

The only reason he got WAR Legs -1 was because everyone who had 74+ war either didn't have the NQ legs or already had HQ, leaving 2 people to lot and he managed to somehow miraculously win it. I'm sure someone will figure out some sort of argument as to how that was the wrong way to approach figuring out who should be able to lot it, and how the way their LS does it is better. That's great and all, but completely besides the point.

On to the topic at hand, the body. It's really quite simple: you don't change the rules during a run. There was no explicit rule being broken; everyone could equip it could lot it. I'm sure there are plenty of people who claim that they wouldn't lot some really rare item because there is someone else that can get some better use out of it, but when it actually comes down to it, most of you would have done the same thing if you saw /l anyone who can equip it can lot it.

Bettering the LS and all that optimistic ideal bs is just stuff that people can say because they think everything is so easy. It's not easy. 2.5 years and next to no cases of drama in an ls that has almost 100 members at any given time is obviously not something that happens often.

Whatever anyone says or thinks, you can't stop everyone from doing the ideal thing in any situation, if it is within the rules. There is no question in anyone's mind that +9 enmity is best for PLD out of the jobs that can equip the item, but since there was nothing stopping WARs and DRKs from lotting, there is no problem. Nobody who had PLD leveled even flinched when it got distributed. Nobody from the run posted on the forums afterwards expressing any sort of disagreement.

There have been similar instances in the past where something dropped, and someone who either shouldn't have, or someone who didn't get the best use out of it got it. It wasn't against the rules, so there was nothing that could be done about it. You make changes as a result of things that happen, that's how it works.

Long story short: nobody is at fault. Not the LS, not the leaders, not the people who lotted it, not the person who won. If you don't like the fact that a war got it, it's fine and I'm sure you'll keep on stating your opinions regarding the matter, but nothing wrong happened here.



And seriously, is there anyone who would actually use a 45 def piece of gear with HP-20 over an actual tank body piece for anything besides macro switch on flash/voke?

yup for /nin which is what a lot of shells use this is arguably the best piece. +9 enmity gives you a lot of different gear to work with. -20 hp is a small price to pay for the enmity on this piece.

K, exactly. Nobody in our dynamis ls uses pld/nin for dynamis. I'm sure they might use it for other things that don't pertain to dynamis, but since our ls is dynamis only, it's not some piece of ultimate omg super great gear that will "better" the ls as a result of someone having it. People don't seem to realize that when you have a whole bunch of people who have no affiliation with each other, other than meeting twice a week for dynamis, rare drops don't need to go to the people that can use them best like in an hnm ls.

It probably would benefit, a little bit. But do you realize how this game works in that many items are only marginal improvements, rather than substantial ones?

They wouldn't be "that much better." It's an improvement over Valor Surcoat (but not insanely better), and I'm fairly certain a WAR wouldn't be able to lot that.

After a bit of drama I was looking for some feedback on what you guys thought about this peice. War already has a nice 8 emnity peice, so i was of the opinion that Plds should have priority, since for a war it would just be epeen+1.

Since this is such a rare peice, should a pld get it?
Should whoever get it, as long as they are a loyal member?

While many pld whine about it its only 3-4 enmity more over better armor they could get. So this would be just a macro in for hate abilities thus losing HP and defense. They shouldnt bitch about the refresh cause its only 20 charges.
Like overall theres a limit to how much you need from any certain stat.

The only thing its very rare drop rate. So wow how many greedy EPEEN pld are there % seems high.
Pld get so many options in gear , it comes mostly too skillz <-- which many pld lack!

Like shadowring drn only good when magic casted and then any job can use it.

and for the some skilled that replied a little negative yes there could have been like "hee, ill pass cause i dont really use it , and our longtime pld maybe can use it better , and i got so many items all rdy" but it doesnt make him a dick.

I think there Ls have good rules (the fairest ive seen so far) so keep on going^^ id say, keep em killing.
