I think your real problem is that you only want to do assaults that you need to get to the next rank. So you end up doing 1 assault in 2 weeks to get 5 points instead of doing a whole bunch of 1 point ones.

Looks fun but man I hate doing assaults.
When I logged in today, and went to whitegate I was actually fairly astounded to see not even 1 shout for Assault groups, when normally there's 2-3 going on at once, any other servers seeing less shouts? Or maybe I just missed them and they're all spamming assaults without me?
That's one of the reason why so many behind atm. Seriously, there is no excuse to be behind unless you simply dont try (ie: wait for people to make assault run for you)Originally Posted by Janice
Some people aren't on all the time, or more to the point I know quite a few who have more than one character, and the character they happen to be working now, is only 70ish and not 75, and thus all Assault parties deny them any entrance. Personally I've never seen a big difference from a 70-75 in the Assaults I have done, albeit I haven't done them all, so my personal experience is limited. But I would hardly expect the majority of people I know to have more than 5k AP saved up, especially since hardly anybody does them, and it's a pain in the ass (at least on Midgard) to get a static going, and keep people doing them.Janice wrote:

This is an excruciatingly long topic filled with sound and fury signifying nothing. Bold = Truthiness.
AP is difficult to get. I've been stuck at 7 runs short of P.Body for a month and have been holding 4 tags for at least 2 weeks, not even my friends will help me spam Golden Salvage.
SMNs can solo it, people only ever want (/)RDM and BRD for #13, and they do it in packs.
What am I gunna do, burn my Ilrusi points, putting me even farther away from my concrete, and therefore more important goal?
2k AP is most likely not a typo, as much as I’d love to believe otherwise, since everyone and their mother has IS and can crap some out whenever they want.
Every Dynamis-deal has a limiter. Salvage is definitely more loose, as it can technically be done daily.
However, they never want it to be too loose, so they made the real limiter Assault.
Actually, this is more flexible than Limbus and Dynamis (at the cost of requiring more prep work, thus being more time intensive), since even if you don’t have a hoard of AP, a decent week of Assaults can net you at least 3 runs.
The main problem people have with this is that you have to sacrifice something you may have been working towards to use or sell (though most of the sellable stuff isn't worth much anymore).
If I can’t pool AP I’ve earned in other runs, I can not do Salvage until I have finished earning points in Ilrusi.
No matter what drops, a piece of gear I know I can get is better than a random shot at something.
Time will tell is 2k AP is a worthy investment, but the price is still too steep to be taken lightly.
btw..Though I hold to hope that this is the update I will seem them...
No Big Sword = No Iron Giant.
I assume the reason for making it Assault Points was that people "should" have their stuff by now, they can use the points for new areas instead of gear.
I'm curious how they calculate the Assault Points. Bhaflau, Zhayolm, and Arrapago (Ilrusi) map to existing assault areas. Silver Seas does not. Can you only use points from corresponding assault areas for a specific salvage area? If so, what do you use for Silver Seas?

the way I read it, I'd just assumed it would work out like all assault counters might hold a general 'salvage permit' item, for 2k points under all counter's use point option.
AP is not hard to get really. Every zone has 1 "easy" one you can trio, Ilrusi has Lamia13, RDM RDM THF can do that, Mamool Ja has Pre-emptive Strike, THF THF RDM/WHM can do that, etc. Both those I know give 1333 AP each, 2 runs = 1 Salvage run. Tedious? Yes, difficult? Not at all.Originally Posted by LD

Also consider that an hourglass was (and still is) 1m when it came out, and the economy back then - 1m could buy you a plethora of things. Very steep, but that's how it is.
I think it said assult points on all the websites...except the french.
maybe sub smn?AP is difficult to get. I've been stuck at 7 runs short of P.Body for a month and have been holding 4 tags for at least 2 weeks, not even my friends will help me spam Golden Salvage.

Building bridges, counting sheep, breaking morale are extremely easy. No fighting so who cares what jobs you have. Oh but you have to be rank 4 or 5 to do those. And the beauty of all 3 of those? 15 minute assaults.AP is not hard to get really. Once you understand how to beat something like Building Bridges, you will never lose. We can knock out all 4 tags on that one in 1 hour (including travel time back to whitegate). Isn't tedious at all. 4k assault points right there with 4 people.
French don't count.
On asura, 2k assault points will get you anywhere from 100-150k in Assault goods. So, it's actually pretty close but a bit more expensive than dynamis/limbus.
I just hope the rewards are good and that its a fun thing to do every day.
I don't think I would want to do it everyday if the timer on them is 100 minutes and takes an alliance.
Here it comes, the uphill struggle, followed by the postpatch anticlimax.
i think of christmas vacation when clark griswald goes to open up his christmas bonus and his wife does the drum roll >.> so i try not and get too excited.Originally Posted by Zalius
Golden Salvage can be easily trio'd by any jobs 50+. Just standing slightly out of range of the chests and clicking them is enough to determine wether it's a mimic or the real deal. If the cursor vanishes and your character freezes for 2 seconds it's real. Anything else... and you just move onto the next. 1.1k a time (w/out band) for 5 minutes work.
