If you find getting assault points to be difficult, you fail at FFXI. If you can't find 2 or 3 other people interested in making free gil a couple times a week, you're pretty much SOL when it comes to managing anything MMORPG. You need to stick to single player games.
I wonder how Flux get's anyone to do anything with him, with his charming personality. :O
A 1 in 13 chance that you might make 2M from 50 seals doesnt sound that great to me.. might as well do Peacock Charm BC, your money over time is likely going to be better..Originally Posted by Rosencrantz
As for the actual topic, regardless of whether or not you used to be able to get assault groups, after this update if you still cant, something is really wrong with your social skills. There are two scenarios: either salvage is worth it, and people are spamming the hell out of assaults, or its not, and you are no differently off from now.
I dont have a lot of sympathy for people who dont have "desirable" jobs for assault not getting groups, because you literally dont need specific jobs to get access to assaults that are not job specific. You have to try pretty hard to get to 75 and not make good enough friends with anyone to go to assault with.
Something tells me that the "giant Mithra" is a monster (although mini is already in the Abdhaljs storyline, so size-changing stuff isn't impossible).
Anyway, does anyone else think that Nyzul Isle might be the final Salvage area added in at a later update? And Hazhalm will be the sixth Assault area and that the Underworld will be ToAU's endgame area? Actually...Hazhalm doesn't fit in with other assault areas so nevermind. (Hazhalm will maybe be like Sealion's Den?)
Also, I wonder if those monsters shown will be part of a new system of mobs (and not just be boring ol' arcana or luminians/luminions). ... I was going to say some other stuff, but now I forgot.
Actually, looking at the Alza'daal ruins...
I think that "giant" Mithra is standing on a ledge that runs around the circumference of the room, the edge of which is delineated by the green line at her feet. The floor she's standing on is raised slightly from the floor that her compatriots are on. You can see the raised floor behind the monster and the rest of the party (look at that green strip with a pattern of arches in it; that's the ledge.)
If you look at it that way, she's suddenly a lot closer to the camera than you thought, and it seems to just fall into place as a normal picture. At least, it does for me. The Giant-Mini effect seemed a bit random to me, and this makes a lot more sense, it being just a random perspective trick.
Ah, nice observation there. You're right, she's on a raised platform.Originally Posted by Seyrr

The problem with APs for entry versus other methods is that the entry method doesn't scale. All other group activities in FFXI benefit from obtaining the entry "fee" with all the same people you'd do the event with. You can fund Dynamis with currency itself. You can obtain gil from H/NM and Limbus coins to fund Limbus. You can farm seals in the same party that does the BC. You can gain access to ENMs and then do the ENMs with the same static that you do PMs with.
Self-funding events are just made of win. But, now with Salvage, it's not just no longer self-funding. The group can't even help it's own members. They have to split up into 3 or more smaller groups and each smaller group has to fend for itself. If one of the smallers fails, main group has to reschedule and can't even help out. All they can do is heckle or encourage the other group to succeed.
This is really poor design. Large events should be cohesive in nature when it comes to group dynamics, not divisive. If Salvage is to succeed, there better be one hell of a nice drop list to motivate folks past these obstacles.
man i can't wait till people datamine the new patch so i can burst out laughing =P

Honestly at this point I don't care too much, I just want to see what's in there. Major fail imo if it's just the 3 TAU jobs AF2, but I highly doubt that. I'm hoping for a pipe-dream non-horrible drop rate, sky gear equivalent, or at least decent sets that mean less people in Sky, so that the competition is spread out some, instead of 5 LS trying to grab Ulli at once.
Hope that all you want. SE isn't in the market of giving their players what they want. They'll continue listening to allafags and base their endgame content on a 3 year old expansion. All of endgame needs a revamp, which would pretty much require raising the level cap, which will never, ever happen.Originally Posted by Abel
being a BLU myself it would be nice if they did add AF2 for us, but something tells me they won't just yetOriginally Posted by Abel
also i think it'll all be ??? items, cos it's all being "salvaged"
besides the glitch being patched since ToAU release to not work anymore in Assault, no, it never worked in Limbus. The chests you click are all mimic models. When you click on the correct ones, they despawn and an appropriate chest quickly fills its place.Originally Posted by Goddess
For example, I replaced my chests with flags. When I got to that floor, all the chests were actually chests, and only once I clicked on them did the flag appear.
I love when people say shit like that. First off, only 1, possibly 2 pieces, of the set will be good. And it will take you over a year to farm it, doing dynamis twice a week every week. Yeah that sure would be nice. I hope they use this opportunity to completely destroy dynamis and start over from scratch with something that isnt boring as shit, and has all 18 jobs AF2 in one place.Originally Posted by Helpoemer
