As far as I see it, it's in the simplest way. Nintendo has a problem of some sorts with their system and when they issue a recall they are praised where as Sony would be flamed. Admit it.. if it was the same problem but Sony instead of Nintendo, we'd have a bunch with "lolsony" kinda posts. I really hate console wars in general, but I will point out when someone is being a retarded fanboy.
How are you unable to differentiate the two? You seem to be the fanboy here.Originally Posted by Elemmire

It isnt Nintendos problem that people dont know how to hold on to controllers, just like it wouldnt be Sonys if they had the problem.
I really don't care about either side of the argument.
But, a malfunction that effects whether or not a system can work isn't really comparable to people not being able to control themselves with a remote. One involves the mechanics of the actual system and being able to use it, another involves a replacement of a strap worth 25 cents.
If the strap breaks can you still play? Yes. Is the strap even needed? No.
If the system is malfunctioning can you still play? No. Is a working system even needed? Guess.
The only recall I remember from Sony was for laptop batteries that exploded and started fires. And Sony took about two months to respond to the incident with an across-the-board recall. This was AFTER waiting for at least 2 major laptop manufacturers using their batteries to issue recalls of their own.Originally Posted by Elemmire

After Sony batteries started exploding in laptops and starting fires, Dell took four weeks to recall them, Apple five weeks, and Sony TEN WEEKS.
The fact is Nintendo did a better job recalling their products, regardless of the cause, than Sony did. If sony is to be flamed over a recall while Nintendo is applauded, this and this alone is the reason. This has nothing to do with fanboism.
I heard that Apple got burned pretty bad over those batteries... they fact they had one of the CEO's say to a huge electronics reporter "Thats why you don't buy windows machines (Dell)" and then suddenly have your ones going off like firecrackers makes me laugh inside.Originally Posted by Correction
Sadly nothing can really burn apple at this point, iPods sell so well it's disgusting, and some of their computers have huge price tags as well. The name and design of their products cost so much money...Originally Posted by Sadler
Yay, 4 new straps for me...the old 4 straps will be used for..I dunno lol
They'll give you as many as you want?
At the bottom you can chose from 1-4...I picked 4 because i have 4 remotesOriginally Posted by Po
I got 4 as well, but only have 2 controllers. Im sure ill find some use for them >.>
More Sony laziness? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoCD9TwLrVs&eurl= Wonder how long it will take them to upgrade the firmware to fix it.
Holy Shit... I had no idea it was that bad.
I knew some games did not work on the PS3 and whatever.. but I didn't know they took a hit that severe.
Damn.. guess I should keep my PS2 if and when I get a PS3, unless they update this.

With a new strap avaible, they are hoping it will close the topic so that people move on and forget about this bad publicity. Recalling the strap cost them money, but it's better in the end than people constantly talking about broken TV monitor caused by the wii.
I dont remember Sony (video game) ever making a recall, even if certain ps2 were simply broken and stop working after 1-2 years (mine still work fine, but there is a ton of ppl out there who had to buy 2).Originally Posted by Elemmire
Not that it matters, if Sony would ever make a recall to change something that work well, for something that work better, than yeah, I would applaud them
I'll be honest about this, despite the fact I'm not a big fan of the PS3 and that I love my Wii. My PS2 stopped playing anything about 2 years after I got it, it wouldn't read any disks at all. I called up Sony customer service, as soon as I read them my serial number they were like, yup that system can be replaced just ship it to this address and you'll get it back in 4-6 weeks.
I was really suprised when I got a brand new PS2 in the mail like 4 days after I shipped it to them. I've heard far longer waits for people sending in 360s on warrenty issues, so I have to say I'm pretty happy with Sony customer service. That said I'm not paying $600 for a new system, not until it has 4-5 games that I really want to play.
My friend got a Wii and accidentally flung the controller at his baby nephew's head.
for all you people who badmouthed the PS3:

Slusher.. was yours a launch PS2? Most of the stories I have heard about defective after a year or 2 PS2's have been ones acquired at launch.
I think I got mine 1.5 to 2 years after and have never had a problem. It is a tad slower, but nothing bad. I wonder if Sony fixed the ones that came after and it was only the launch ones that were bad.
I always wondered why mine hasn't had any problemos.

Just to clear up something for those thinking Nintendo is doing this because they are concerned about lawsuits...
1) Corporations of this magnitute have lawyers on salary. It costs little to nothing for Nintendo to respond to a litigation against them.
2) Nintendo will not lose such a lawsuit against some retard swinging a controller around wildly with their baby nephew crawling around in front of them. The term 'neglect' covers every one of these damages or injuries reported. The manual and terms of use are there for a reason.
It's called public relations, which is something Nintendo has forever been awesome at keeping in tact. It's not Nintendo's fault that people feel compelled to swing or hurl their controller as hard as they possibly can, harder than they can even hold on to. That was just a misjucgement that the average Wii user is a lot more retarded than they expected (or quite possibly, rather inebriated).
It's as simple as Nintendo keeping their customers as happy as possible, and a 3-cent piece of string isn't going to break the bank. Nintendo is awesome at what they do, you can't deny that. They "think outside the box" a bit too much here and there, but for the most part it works in the end.
Are they actually making people pay for this shit or are they doing it for free.
"Recall" generally means "free repair/replacement."Originally Posted by Exoduso
