Anyone else get a similar letter?

Few months ago I got Superman Returns off a torrent on supernova and a week or so later I recieved a letter from my ISP as a warning saying not to DL anything else, yada yada. It was pretty detailed so I took it to heart and went paranoid and uninstalled my torrent clients.

So case in point, local theatre shut down and I really don't feel like hitching a a 1:30 hour ride to watch a movie the same length. Really wanted to see Blood Diamond, but don't wanna risk downloading and having the FBI come knocking down my doors.

Anyone else get this type of shit? should I ignore it?

Makes me glad I use private torrent sites. If I were you, I would just be a tad bit more cautious about what to download since it seems very apparent to me that the accusation was legitimate. I have also heard a few instances of this happening regarding television shows on HBO.

I got a call from Cox Cable...AKA Suddenlink...for downloading a subpar movie in Aeon Flux. Ah well. I stopped downloading movies for a few months sticking to TV shows...but now they are watching TV shows too? What is the world coming to. lol

oh and the way i got out of it was saying "maybe someone was hacking my wireless network?" they responded...well you should put a password on that and scan for backdoors, trojans, viruses..etc like she was reading it from a prewritten speech. w/e

Such private torrent sites refer to Demonoid.com as an example. It is invite only so if you can find a friend that is on there and convince them to give you an invite then there you go. Seeing as you're all my friends, save for Genome, it is going to take some hefty persuasion to get an invite out of me.

I got 2 letters. One for downloading AVP The movie, I told them I though it was the trailer (LOL) and one for downloading photoshop when I formatted my computer, got careless and didnt protect myself.

I haven't used torrents in over a year+ fuck that shit.

"Private" torrent sites are just as vunerable to them catching you as regular torrent sites.

And Peeguardian is like using a paper shield to stop bullets. It's more of a comfort program for people than any kind of sure fire way of blocking RIAA/MPAA interest groups seeking out people who have these files.

I know multiple people who have received cease and desist letters from their ISP, a couple use private sites. I guess I'm lucky though, still no letter.

Up here its not illegal and you cannot be sued or anything for downloading Music, movies etc. Because according to the law, Stealing is when you "take" something from someone, while downloading a file is just copying it. Case in point your not actually taking anything your just duplicating it.
