Why is it when something like this starts we suddenly find ourselves bereft of whatever jobs we need. But suddenly we have the jobs we needed for the last event...

We're really feeling the fact that we don't have enough MNKs. Well in fact we have one and he hasn't been yet. Our best DD's are NINs and a WAR who didn't bring rr...and I suspect this is eventually going to prove an enormous pain in the butt.

Our first run was Zhayolm. There were some major screwups but we could all see that it was fairly easy to get started there. Only I now read that drops are an issue.

So we went to try Bhaflau and it was a comparative disaster. I know most people find this one easy but we have hardly any H2H specialists (thankfully those we do have who have any skill are skilling like crazy to raise it). We got abysmal cell drops and the mobs did a lot of damage. I think we'll head back to Zhayolm. Wamoura and bombs had a hell of a lot higher HP than the puks etc.

For those of you who have done more of these zones, which has the easiest starting mobs? I'm interested in seeing how people rate Silver Seas and Arrapego against Bhaf.

I'm off to poke our thieves and mnk with sticks... we have something like 20 active peeps in the shell and most of them seem to be rdms...

I've done Silver Sea and Bhaflau and I think Bhaf was much easier. Cell drops in Silver Sea are completely random on the first floor, so you never know when you will get drops you need. Also, the Drown AoE and RDM+MNK Fomor you have to fight near the start suck compared to Bifrons.

We tear through the Bifrons pretty easy in Bhaf. Kill them all otw to Wamoura and get Magic cells. It's nice knowing exactly what cells you are farming, makes everything easier. Our last Bhaf, we had only one MNK and a WAR, who took out the first Bifron easily (and it dropped 2 weapon cells^^).

Silver Seas Fomor seemed alot harder, we definately needed more MNKs and H2H users to get off the first floor. We usually had 2-4 MNKs + others, THF, WAR, DRGs. Just seemed harder to take out those Fomor.

Personally I think in terms of ease to start:
Zhayolm > Bhaflau > Silver Seas > Arrapago

Bhaflau mobs are actually probably easier, but you get magic later. So if you don't have enough hi-pots to get to that point, it's probably rough. But by the end of the 2nd floor, you can be pretty much fully equipped and you can skip mobs at will.

Zhayolm drops are very predictable, first mobs will drop 1 cell each. After that 2 of the mobs will drop 2 cells, and 2 will drop none. But at the very start you can get 4 weapons, JAs, magic, and SJs. What makes Zhayolm annoying is that there's so many mobs, and it's such a big zone.

Silver Seas can start out /extremely/ hard if you take the path with the linked fomors. We usually just have mages without magic aggro the groups and kite them as best as they can while we pick off mobs one by one.

Arrapago is just painful the whole way.

One thing that I found that I have to keep telling people, especially monks. For the love of all that's holy, don't use sushi. I don't even have capped H2H skill for THF or NIN, and I use meat and barely miss. And that holds true almost all the way until the boss. Gears have ok evasion, but still fairly easy to hit with meat. The beginning stuff has no evasion though, maybe just the thief qutrubs do, but I would still use meat there, especially as a monk.

On a related note, I had about 180 H2H skill when I started doing salvage, and it's probably up to 194 now, and I haven't seen any skill in several runs. So I'm just guessing that most of the starting mobs are about lvl72 skill wise. Then again, it could just be due to the fact that I've been going ninja most of the time lately, and get weapons first usually.
