gravity, sleep, bind all work wonders, rdm nukes were doing a respectable 220 dmg.

OK here is the deal. Pretty easy to kill conventionally, but NIN tanks will not be able to cope.

At the start, he attacks fast, but not very hard. He's kind of like Joyeuse NM. At intervals during the battle, you will see the message:
One of the sea creature's tentacles have been wounded.
(Yes including the wrong grammar).
His attacks will slow down significantly after each of these messages.
At around 20% you get the message:
All of the sea creature's tentacles have been wounded.
After this, he spams TP moves, which are mainly:
Maelstrom - AOE water damage
Inkjet - Single target blind & damage and a significant knock-back
Whirlwind - AOE damage
He also then gains a fairly heavy hitting (about the same amount of damage as exp mobs) non-blinkable normal melee attack.

And that's it.

Edit: One of the TP moves also has hate-reset, can't remember which one it is.

did you just straight tank it and cure urself with blm help or what?

Kind of. We all had hi-potion tanks so we had inventories full of hi-potions . But pretty much. The BLM debuffed, kept up barwater, stunned and cured. The PLD pretty much kept himself cured. I was WAR/NIN, the only curing I really needed I could cover myself with hi-potions. At the end of the fight I would draw hate because it only spams TP moves, including the hate reset one, which means inevitably I hit harder so it just goes for me. The end of the fight turns into cure-bomb WS-spam.

And yes, it was just straight tanking. We had a contingency plan to disengage and sleep it if somebody died or the fight got hairy, but didn't need to use it.
