Upgrading Salvage Armor

I think if SE wanted to lock people into one set choice, they would have locked people into one set choice. It is blantely obviously they are willing to limit people's choices regarding one off gear and multiple jobs (AKA: DM, CoP, etc), and the fact that they didnt do so on this gear is a pretty decent statement that the gear is meant to be what you go after for each of your jobs.

Ofcourse, going after more than one piece set at a time is pricky in most cases, but some people have different ways of doing things. But that is up to you and your linkshell to decide. If SE had wanted to lock people into one set for eternity, they would have.

I think the fact that there are set bonuses on the salvage sets is evidence enough that SE wants players to desire each and every piece. Until recently the best incentive to actually collecting full sets of armor in this game would be to wear stuff that actually matches. Then, SE introduced the Assault sets. Nice try, but while a lot the individual pieces were good, the set bonuses were laughable. Now, with Salvage, I think they may have finally hit the target of making us armor that both looks good together and is effective. Only time will tell, though.

No. There is a bonus for a person concentrating on a single job collecting a full set, but like you said, the set bonuses in the initial sets were totally laughable. I'm not sure why you would think these sets would be any different, and although I look forward to seeing a full Morrigan set in action, I wouldnt hold my breath on the Set bonus. The pieces are good enough as it is.

Some people like to specialise in one job. Some people dont. Because YOU like to specialise doesnt mean that everyone else should be locked into one set. There are specific pieces I would like to have from 3 different sets, much before I wanted a full set. Logically, if I want 5 pieces out of 3 sets, I am not getting any more or less out of salvage than any other person. I may be denying myself the opportunity to obtain a set bonus, but that is my business.

Also, for any given job, take a look at the pieces again. Most jobs will have pieces they don't want that other jobs do. take morrigan hands. I'm a RDM, I think they suck. But +5 acc/atk/macc/matk is a fuckton nice for BLU. In the same respect, most BLUs can pass on morrigan legs, while I sure as hell want that +10 INT/MND in my bag. So while each set, by itself, is nice for all the jobs that can use it, in most cases certain jobs will have better alternatives for certain pieces. THATS where the whole "don't let people only want 3 pieces" argument falls apart: whos to say people want the same three pieces?

Except BLU would like the legs +10 MND and INT is hawt for BLU too. Most of the ones I see wear Jets or Crimson.

I was asking the RDM-only person. I don't think they're particularly better for one of the jobs than the others. (+1 STR/+2 INT+MND for BLU, +2 INT for BLM, +2 INT+MND for RDM, +25 MP for all)

You're saying this like you're sure that they aren't locking people in. Have you seen where anyone has upgraded a piece and is still able to change to another set? I haven't even heard of anything actually being upgraded yet. The npc does let you change your mind after selecting a set, but his actual dialogue is something to the effect of you not being able to change once he's begun work on your set (sorry, I don't have the game on atm to find the exact text).

I haven't even heard of anything actually being upgraded yet. The text when switching is something like:
"Will you abandon your decision, and focus on the Skadi Leather Armor instead?"
I'll agree that the wording is odd, but coming from SE I'm happy it's not something like:
"Will you push down your decision, and cause the Skadi Leather Armor to boil?"

We'll find out soon enough though whenever someone finds where a third item drops. Like if Morrigan Hands drop from the LAC, then I could see people upgrading those anytime now. Or Ares's Body if the Qiqirn Treasure Hunter in Arrapago really drops the lvl35 body (JPs say it does, but NA kills have gotten cells)

lol.. I didn't even state any priority. I simply said BLU would like them. Go ahead and say +2INT and MND is more important for you and only you tho.

Mahatma take away STR and other important stats, which sucks for BLU. All I freaken said was BLU would like them, go ahead and freak out now and list me off every loljob priority for every piece tho.

My static solved it by allowing everyone to pick any 5 pieces to lot on.
