Dear, Nintendo...North Pole News: Special Christmas Treat on

Thank you for Christmas Virtual Console Monday.

This year Santa is getting some competition from another jolly guy with a
big belly and a red cap. We're talking about video game icon Mario(TM), of
course. As a special holiday surprise for Wii(TM) owners from Nintendo, the
original Super Mario Bros. (TM) game for the Nintendo Entertainment System(R)
will appear in the Wii Shop Channel and be downloadable for 500 Wii Points.
Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to
download the game. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at
    retail outlets.

The classic game will make Christmas morning extra special, just as it did
more than two decades ago. Super Mario Bros. reigns as perhaps the best-known
and most-played game on any video game system in history. More than 40.2
million copies of the game found their way into homes worldwide. In addition
to Super Mario Bros., other top-notch offerings available on Dec. 25 include:

    * Street Fighter(R) II: The World Warrior (Super NES(R), 1-2 players,
800 Wii Points): This game revolutionized the fighting-game genre with
characters that had unique fighting skills, speed, special moves and
    unique endings.

    * Super Castlevania(R) IV (Super NES, 1 player, 800 Wii Points): Simon
Belmont uses his trusty whip to fight the powers of evil on his way to
    Dracula's Castle.

    * Toe Jam & Earl(TM) (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): Two
fun-loving aliens crash on Earth and must find 10 pieces of their
spaceship so they can get back home to Planet Funkotron.

    * R-TYPE(R) (TurboGrafx16, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): This is a
completely faithful port - right down to the character details - of the
    famous shooting-game masterpiece.

Games available on Jan. 1 include:
    * Baseball (NES, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points): Play nine innings of
fierce sandlot competition with classic NES graphics.

    * Urban Champion(TM) (NES, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points): Don't let the
big, bad bully of the neighborhood push you around! Players fight for
the right to walk the street.
    ---

Super Mario Bros., Castlevania IV, R-Type, AND ToeJam & Earl? Thank you, Nintendo!

    1000 Wii Points = $10.00
    2000 Wii Points = $20.00
    3000 Wii Points = $30.00
    5000 Wii Points = $50.00

I like how Nintendo actually used a system that made sense for points, while Microsoft decided to randomly assign a dollar value to a seemingly random amount of points.

    1000 Wii Points = $10.00

650 360 points = $4.27 or something stupid like that lol

I think MS does that on purpose so its not as easy to figure out the total for games. Makes for more impulse buying. There are very few things I don't like about the Wii, the cost of things with Wii points are one.

Also: give me earthbound you fuckers.

    Woot Sells PS3? Wii, Wii!

So, hey, check it out: there’s this awesome new gaming system that we just can’t stop playing. Too bad it’s so hard to find in stores – we guess they just didn’t make enough of them. It’s called the Nintendo Wii, and holy mother of Zelda, is it ever a blast. If the Wii is cool with polygamy, we might ask it to marry us.

The controller – so easy! No more intricate push-this-twice, pull-that-three-times trickery, just easy waves of the hand. The console – so cute! It actually makes our gaming room look better, unlike the bulky, ugly consoles we could mention. How does Nintendo keep the price so low on that thing, anyway? And the games, good Lord, the games! Not to mention those adorable avatars. We’ve already created virtual versions of the entire staff, so we can beat each other virtually-bloody instead of actually-bloody, like we usually do. The only problem is that none of the nose options are as big as Jason’s actual nose. But that’s a minor quibble.

In fact, we love the Wii so much, we want to give a Wii to everybody on our payroll. To fund this Wii-for-the-People program, we're selling this Sony PlayStation 3. The SIXAXIS wireless controller is basically the same complicated gazillion-button-style controller you know from past PS models, but at least you won’t be fighting Grandma for gaming time. Along with the usual roster of ho-hum games, the PS3 can play CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Ray discs, and the 20GB hard drive can store music, videos, and music videos. It’s certainly, er, rather full-figured, for those of you who want a lot of heft for your money. And its HDMI capabilities give you polygons and frames-per-second out the wazoo, if you prefer that stuff to having fun.

Best of all, for every PS3 you buy, we can buy Wiis for two of our employees. So when you get frustrated by those intricate combo-button moves, or bored by the underwhelming game offerings for the PS3, keep the spirit of the season in mind. Remember all those happy Woot staffers whose lives have been changed by their super-fun Nintendo Wiis, paid for by you. Heartwarming, isn’t it?
    wow, thats fucking hilarious
    best sales like ever
