We've actually never had the problem of not getting 3 people unlocked. Although we always have a TH3 (or TH4) THF. The least we've got is 5.
I bet for saying this, we won't get any rings today ~.~

There was one time that we had to dupe ranged in order to get 4 instead of 2 (1 for brd, 3 for unlocks), but never had to dupe otherwise. Usually we dupe the Virgas to give everyone rings if enough don't drop.
TH3(4 if hands from chest) gogo. No reason to do any zone without a THF, wasting an NM kill that way anyway.
real quick question, ill put it in here as its mainly something i need to know for future zhay runs, but it is more of a generaal salvage question.
Regarding sockets, i know that trading a cell pops a nm, and killing the nm drops double the amount of cells you traded. We have only ever done this using one type of cell (eg 2 humulus to get 4 back).
What happens if you trade multiple? Eg 2 humulus 2 prae. Do you get 4 of each back, or does it give you 4 of one cell and 0 of another. I seem to remember reading that it would randomly pick one of the cells and double them, ignoring the others.
Pretty sure it picks whatever cell you chose to put in the first spot (or closest to it) and dupes however many of those you put in. The cells get "consumed" and then drop in double. The other cells are just put back into your inventory.Originally Posted by Daiiawn
Like if you trade 500gil to the Aht Urhgan teleporter, you still only lose 300gil.
We've had 3 runs with a TH3 (actually 4, but no hands by that point) thief, where we've ended up with either no ring cells or no ranged cells.
Pretty awful luck, but it can certainly happen even with a thief.
Wizerd is correct. We had a greedy monk put 2 kinds of cells in once ....no 5th that time lol.
Sorry if this was answer before but i was just wondering since now we can pop the 1st floor madame whats the best route to spawn 5th and 6th madame?
After trying 1F > 2F > Jakko > 5F > 6F, I'm convinced that it's not really worth the effort.Originally Posted by Almost

first floor: Farm what you need and pop frog. Warp down
Second floor: Clear NE room, duplicate what you need. Kill 2 in SE, SW and NW. Pop Jakko. Warp down.
Third floor: Clear first 3 rooms. Warp down N
Fourth Floor: Kill Rampart. Warp down.
Fifth Floor: Kill frog. Warp down.
Sixth Floor: Kill frog. Clear room. Warp down.
Seventh Floor: Kill boss.
Not sure how you can prefer that route, since you can easily do 1F > 2Fx2 > 5F > 6F > boss with plenty of time remaining. Especially since you won't need to kill 4F frog either, as 1F frog seem to have pretty much 100% drop rate on the 15's.Originally Posted by Francisco II
Difference is that by doing 1F you can get a Lv15 piece mixed in with the Lv35 run. Else you gotta tailor a run specifically for a Lv15 item. Derkaderka etc, but my understanding is that Lv15 pieces are a high drop rate from this NM, and can be any one (bar Skadi Body).
EDIT: I read like a 4 year old >_>
Wrong zone. <.<Originally Posted by Gunitsoldier

1F seemed to be a lot of wasted time, clearing an entire wing, backtracking and then having people logout and log back on... Our main group is usually fairly small: WAR, MNK, MNK, WHM, BRD, RDM, DRK, THF - sometimes we have a BLM and another BRD.
We've routinely hit the 6F Chariot and get the 10 minute warning when that's around 50% doing 2Fx2 > 3F > 5F > 6F - doing 1F we wound up getting the 10 minute warning with 6F gears only half cleared.
On our most recent run we plowed through first floor farming. Second floor we stayed together for NE - then split farmed SE and SW. We met back up at NW for Jakko and those mobs. Seemed to be much faster that way.
Third and fourth floor, we did the usual.
Fifth floor we got absolutely DICKED by the Poroggo Madame. It used Frog Chorus a good 10-12 times. We couldn't even get TP for Shoulder Tackle before it used it again. To sum it up in a word: bullshit.
Sixth floor, again the Poroggo heavily favored Frog Chorus, but it was more reasonable. We basically tore through the gears.
Mega-Boss: Timed out at 29% - which is far and away the closest we've come. I think we would have won easily if the 5F Poroggo didn't act like such a fucking douche bag. Also, we usually don't send someone (the THF) to the warp portal until the 5F frog dies... but after last run, we really don't need anything else from 5F that I can think of - so we can save some time there.
Bring RDM/DRK or BLU. Will save you a lot of grief.Fifth floor we got absolutely DICKED by the Poroggo Madame. It used Frog Chorus a good 10-12 times. We couldn't even get TP for Shoulder Tackle before it used it again. To sum it up in a word: bullshit.
We did the same you do before 1F was discovered, had about the same success you had, with sometimes killing the boss, most of the time timing out. However, nowadays we can do them all and boss with over 10 min remaining after the boss is dead. So it does save quite a bit of time. We have pretty much the same group you do. MNK MNK WHM RDM BRD DRK SAM THF, with a second BRD or MNK and BLM coming sometimes.Originally Posted by Francisco II
First time we attempted it we did horrible. Now we know exactly what to do, and everything go smoothly.
How do people handle the 5F frog best? We have been doing, 1 person sacs all the gears and then waits at port, while the rest fight frog the 1 melee at a time way. Now sometimes it works fine, but it takes awile and if it charms alot its really dangerous (because gears are so close and no kite room).
RDM/DRK: CS Stun + Hundred Fist x 2, should be able to reduce it to 50% with minimal (can still get hit by charm) risk of charm.
THF doesn't really need to die while sac-ing the gears. You can get fanatics relatively easily on 1F from the Mamools. It appears to be around 50% chance of appearing in the chests there. (No hard data but it is rare that our thf doesn't have it). Basically PD > clockwise round the room > Fanatics > /logout above the stairs leading to Madame.
Charm range is 20.0 (or 20.2?) and you can cast on it from anywhere under 21.0 so you can safely blast a madame from out of charm range.
After that, no one needs to die running to the porter either. I use powder boots x 2 and get the thf to flee after me. Basically I aggro all the mobs (including chariot) while THF heads to porter. With 2 boots, a RDM can easily survive the train long enough for THF to port.
That said...here's my rant...
4 are feet, 3 enlil head....where the heck are the Morrigan from 6F?!?
Charm range is 20, but you won't get charmed at 20.0, only at 19.9, just like anything with distance. For example, at 25.0, your ranged attack will say out of range, but not at 24.9.Originally Posted by tymora
Also, we've seen Fanatic's Drink maybe once in the last 10 runs we've done in Zhayolm, in the various chests it can drop rate. If I had to guess, I'd say it was a 20% drop, not 50%. It's certainly not that high, and killing all 4 mamools on 1F just to get a Fanatic's Drink is useless when, if your THF has any skill, they can simply outrun the gears using PD+Flee.
Ruin: There is plenty of kiting room. Simply fight it in the room it pops, then when someone gets charmed, have them run out of the room, up one side of the stairs, down the other, then loop the room again. It's really quite easy. No need for RDM/DRKs or 2hrs since you want them for a quick boss kill anyway.![]()
The fuck?
Charm range is 25"... Pretty damned sure its 25"
