20, it's fun to stand at 20.0 exactly and wait for your group to get charmed while casting on them.

THF doesn't really need to die while sac-ing the gears. You can get fanatics relatively easily on 1F from the Mamools. It appears to be around 50% chance of appearing in the chests there. (No hard data but it is rare that our thf doesn't have it). Basically PD > clockwise round the room > Fanatics > /logout above the stairs leading to Madame.

Charm range is 20.0 (or 20.2?) and you can cast on it from anywhere under 21.0 so you can safely blast a madame from out of charm range.

After that, no one needs to die running to the porter either. I use powder boots x 2 and get the thf to flee after me. Basically I aggro all the mobs (including chariot) while THF heads to porter. With 2 boots, a RDM can easily survive the train long enough for THF to port.

    That said...here's my rant...
4 are feet, 3 enlil head....where the heck are the Morrigan from 6F?!?
Charm range is 20, but you won't get charmed at 20.0, only at 19.9, just like anything with distance. For example, at 25.0, your ranged attack will say out of range, but not at 24.9.

Also, we've seen Fanatic's Drink maybe once in the last 10 runs we've done in Zhayolm, in the various chests it can drop rate. If I had to guess, I'd say it was a 20% drop, not 50%. It's certainly not that high, and killing all 4 mamools on 1F just to get a Fanatic's Drink is useless when, if your THF has any skill, they can simply outrun the gears using PD+Flee.

Ruin: There is plenty of kiting room. Simply fight it in the room it pops, then when someone gets charmed, have them run out of the room, up one side of the stairs, down the other, then loop the room again. It's really quite easy. No need for RDM/DRKs or 2hrs since you want them for a quick boss kill anyway.
When you make the turn to go back up the stairs, you will get owned if all melee are charmed? Maybe thats fine if its 1 melee charmed, but seems it be better if you just sleep the 1 melee and other goes in.

Another thing: Say you are doing 1 melee at a time, throwing a blu in there with the 1 melee to only spam headbutt, will a bunch of charms still get off?

Last 5F I did; had 3 MNK's and a BLU on it. With the MNK's using Shoulder Tackle and the BLU spamming Head Butt, the Madame got virtually nothing off. That included Water Bomb, Magic Hammer etc.

No, you won't get owned. The players will path weirdly, as well as the Madame. The Madame might catch up to you but the players definitely won't.

Tell your melee to just wear dusk lol, Go go speed- gear (Tho, then they'd prob be so slow they'd be waiting for you after you got back from doing the turn).

Problem with that is they won't stay together unless they're all wearing dusk, and MNK can't wear it.

    No, that doesn't work.
When someone gets charmed their speed gets defaulted to normal, pretty sure anyways.

I don't know if this has ever been tested: we've tested walk mode vs. run mode but that's not actually related to your character's movement speed, just how fast your input commands move you around.

easy check would be to see what flee or strider's etc do while charmed.

From what I understand, you won't go faster than 100%(normal) movement speed, but you'll go slower if your gear specifies it.

Not too sure about that, I remember one LAC a while back, Gaiters user was running the same speed as non-gaiters while charmed.

Aurik's correct- when I got frogged when wearing Skadi feet, I ran well ahead of the rest of froggehs towards the person who was kiting. Also confirmed this several times in the same situation on the Orc tier in Dynamis- movement speed still takes effect when charmed.

Guess my game was laggin then, because I recall our THF wearing Strider's was running normal speed as well, while charmed.

You probably weren't lagging, there's a lot of factors when it comes to charmed people.

Biggest factor being landscape. Unless they are walking in a fairly straight line, it's hard to judge speeds vs each other, especially when turning a corner and such.

So I know this discussion was a couple weeks back, but tonight we pulled off 2F > Jakko > 4N > 5N > 6F > boss. I was originally writing this post as though I had something informative about what we did to share, but then I realized that it was just thinly-veiled boasting, so I'll just come clean on that and I hope nobody will begrudge me it. For what it's worth we did get a rings and 2 MP in the chest, although we got ample rings from lizards and 4 MP from the mamools we killed anyway. Got only one chorus from 2F frog, and ended up clearing just all but 4-5 non-droppers on 1F and 2F because neither myself nor the other person pulling uses modified mob names, so I actually think it might be repeatable given the right luck on MP from from 3F, chest, or both. At the very least it's easy to abort with little harm done if you don't have that luck.

    Kill any frogs on 4F?

And yes, if you port before 30m you're set. If you can't port by 30m, abort and kill 3f frog instead

No, we just hide-pulled the madame (kinda) and killed it and ported up. We didn't even kill any mamools which in retrospect we should have for BRD's CHR, RDM's MND etc, since at this point you have 110 minutes to kill 3 frogs, a Rampart, 10 gears, a chariot, and the boss. But we were in rush-rush mode from the first three floors and didn't make the transition right away lol

Not to be picky, but 12 gears <_<. Grats on the accomplishment. Luck is definitely a factor and I think everyone in the group has to know what's going on, rather than just the leading few. Unfortunately, on Remora that's not so common.

To further the charm discussion: I've never run noticably faster than my party members on 5F or 6F while charmed on THF, and I full-time in Skadi boots. Neither have I ever seen anyone run faster than the mob of charmed players in Dynamis. However, I've seen players run slower with Dusk on in both situations, and when charmed in Lamia No.13 on NIN with boots on at night, the mages have a very hard time outrunning me.

Not sure what affects it, but there's definitely something there that changes between certain scenarios... I'll keep a closer watch next Zhayolm I go THF to. Admittedly, since it hasn't been an issue, I never specifically looked for it.
