It's just a suggestion - a very safe way to spawn gears on 6th floor as soon as the party port up instead of waiting for chariot to move to optiomal position, and virtually zero risk of screwing up the pull.Any job can do this. PUP is a very strong job in Salvage - decent h2h, automaton hit hard and tank well on first 2 floors. Our PUP also has BLM at 75 and we notice BLM automaton is able to land nuke on chariot more consistently (and hate free) all they need are range, job ability and magic cells which are common drop in ZR.

Besides, even if you got a ranged from starting chest, why would you give it to a PUP, and not a BRD or one of the three pathos free?
Because then the PUP can't tank with his puppet on weak mobs and feel super important.
Other than pop conditions, are there any notable differences between northern and southern Poroggo Madames in terms of difficulty?
No difference in difficulty. But no point doing south if you can do north since south doesn't drop 35s.
Unless....you are screwed on cell dropsSouth can be used to remedy the situation by still allowing 6F to be popped.
I beg to differ. The south madames are both much easier, I would guess the north route madames are nearly twice as difficult as the south ones.Originally Posted by tymora
PUP only need range cell to use maneuver. We don't usually give our PUP weapon since we clear the raptor wing to pop 1st floor Madame. PUP has the 2nd highest h2h skill + Martial art trait they do well even without weapon on first floor. Once they get JA cell automaton can be summoned.I think he meant the fact if you don't get one out of the chest you won't find any till 2f. So far we never have problem getting enough range cells for both tanks, RDM, BRD, THF, DRG and PUP. Can always duplicate range cells if necessary but we normally pop Madame with ring/earring cells.
Pet jobs are very strong on first 2 floors since mobs are weak, PUP can do decent damage even without weapon cells, on higher floors they can switch to BLM automaton which usually land nuke more consistently than unequiped BLM. More importantly their nuke is hate free which means they can nuke as often as possible compared to a BLM with half hp and no SJ.
I think SE do give the TAU job some advantage over other jobs in TAU related events - BLU is a powerful job in Asuh Tarif quest and Einherjar whereas PUP is strong in Salvage since automaton is less likely to be restricted by Pantos.
We're either completely capped on 5N drops, or close to cap - if it's any faster, we might be better off going south, to allow for extra time on the mega boss.Originally Posted by tymora
minimally, you can save some time farming on 2F since 5F south only requires one person with full unlocks, I suppose.Originally Posted by Francisco II
Normally on 5FN, I will use powders boots and flee to the porter on brd to clear the way for everyone else to get to the Madame. This of course means I can't fight the madame.
I'm looking for suggestions on what possible ways to avoid going to the porter right away, so that I could stay and help fight the NM to speed it up a bit. Also, incase I were to go as BLM and I wasn't able to flee to the porter. I'm aware I could just sack them and then RR up, but it worries me a little incase there are any water bombers while I'm singing songs that could kill me. Other than getting a Fanatics drink and doing /logout, are there any methods people use to avoid a death, and still be able to flee the gears to not have to worry about aggroing them with the group?
The only thing I could think of was having a thf do it, and have a macro such that:
/ja "Perfect Dodge" <me>
/logout
When I was doing something similar with JAs on brd, I noticed that often enough the JA wouldn't go off and it would just start logging. Other times it would work perfectly, which would allow for a safe logout. When adding a /wait 1, it would give me 1 second where I could get hit and not be able to logout. Suggestions?
We usually have a RDM with w.legs run towards the porter and most of the time he manages to not die too. But maybe in your case you could try powder boots as a thf and first dash towards madame -> PD -> steal/claim madame -> dash towards porter and use flee when powder boots wear off.Originally Posted by Lilswitche
Hmm. Wouldn't the madame then run through the gear rooms toward the THF when everyone got charmed?Originally Posted by rithridan
You can actually get pass the gear room without having to sleep them or log off, you do need a THF though.
Basically make sure 5th floor Madame is not up when your group hit 5th floor, I usually play RDM in salvage what I normally do is use all the cells except Vit. Gather in front of the gear room, THF uses 2hr, run in to aggro all gears and immediately head back to the room where your group first port up to 5th floor. The rest of the party should head straight to Madame room. At this point THF can flee to Madame room and the gear train should lose aggro. Once the gears move back to where they usually are, I use the last cell to spawn Madame.
I usually bring powder boots for this zone. After Madame is defeated, both THF and I flee to to hit the porter.
This is the method I use, although we don't worry about not popping the Madame first. It's easy enough for the fleeing THF to avoid aggroing the madame, and even if you do the RDM can just sleep it. You have to run to the right hand side far corner to reliably lose aggro though, not the left corner.Originally Posted by Ahlah
Also, Fleeing to the porter with AF1 boots macro'd in makes it so you won't have aggro caught up to you at the door, and you can just open it and port up before anything catches up. Just make sure you stop a second after the second gear room to pop a silent oil to get past the chariot (since it aggros sound).
We usually have everyone go into the madame room when the gears are being trained and fight the madame in there, any action would probably grab the madame off the thief. I'm just theorycrafting here though, I don't have any experience doing it that way.Originally Posted by Lilswitche
^If everyone get charmed, expect a massive wipe when you uncharm in the middle of 10 gears, otherwise, it would work fine.
We usually have the thief aggro everything and die next to us. After we killed madame, I use my flee boot (on war) and follow the thief who aggro everything, and zone up before he dies (if possible)
