It does dispel.
Diffusion must be whacking my songs every time, then. I haven't had the pleasure of losing pro/shell/regen/reraise/JAs or any drink effects.![]()
Maybe a dumb question, but has anyone ever tried clearing 5F Chariot in Zhayolm? The zone has a lot of similarities with Arrapago layout-wise, it could potentially drop stuff.
I guess the best way to guess would be to answer the question when does the chariot on the 5th floor pop? Is it always up, or is it like Arrapago in that it pops when you open the door to the teleporter? If it pops when you open the door to the teleporter, I bet it drops stuff.
It's always up from what I saw. We killed it once with no drops. It was quite a few months ago so it might have dropped a few cells but I'm fairly certain it didn't.Originally Posted by divisortheory

Killed it twice, one time it was very easy, one time very hard. Dropped nothing either time.Originally Posted by divisortheory
We're going for another boss run tonight, which is looking to have 11-12. A few questions for those who have fought the boss:
1 - Has anyone tried landing elegy/slow without equipping appropriate staves? I heard that it didn't seem to resist stun much, but I wasn't sure what the deal was with the others. . we're giving weapons to NIN, WAR, then BLMs / MNKs, but I wasn't sure how vital the other pieces were.
2 - I'm actually switching from THF to MNK on this run for more firepower on the boss, and because this zone isn't *quite* as TH dependent as the other zones. That being said, I know that's going to make the sac pull on floor 6 (and *maybe* running through floor 5) slightly more difficult. Did anyone ever test if it was safe to carby pull the chariot on floor 6? I figured that maybe we can have one of the WHM/SMNs do that. . but I don't want to risk wiping us if there's some odd catch there.
That's all I can really think of. . I'm going to convince the melees to bring remedy ointments for the paralysis on the boss (or just synth up a bunch for people) in hopes of it helping *somewhat* with the paralysis. I was going to have the NIN, WAR, and one MNK engage it to begin with, then when it got down to 60 or 50, just blast the hell out of it. . though perhaps I should shoot earlier for that one, perhaps?
It is safe to carby pull on floor6 from what I've heard.
I'm unclear about the question about the 6th floor. Maybe you can carby pull or not, but either way you have to clear the entire floor minus the ramparts, so no particular reason to fight the chariot first. Every time we do this, I cast on the chariot from as far east of it as I can be while in casting range, then haul ass to the NE enclave and die/RR while the rest of the ally waits in the SW enclave. Once the gears are popped they start clearing them until there's a clean pull of the chariot and 1-gears, then kill those, and finish the 3-gears. There's no good reason I can think of to kill the chariot first, and additionally if you clear the gears in the way you have more room to spread out, etc.
As for the 5th floor, if you don't have anyone with flee, just bring a hermes. While it's possible to open the door to the portal between chariot attack rounds, usually I end up dying at the door and reraising.
Edit: Oh and you wrote that you heard it doesn't resist stun much, which is probably due to my post a few pages back. I should have posted since we have done the boss again, and had 2 stun resists (out of probably 6-7), so it isn't as foolproof as I originally believed. However, it was double-earth conditions at the time which may have been a factor. Also, it wasn't like the last 2 stuns or anything, it was something like successful stun > resist > success > success > resist > success, so I don't think it was due to a cumulative stun resistance like Bhaflau.
Carby pull definitely works on the gears, that's what we did.
for the 5th floor, just have 2 people go together, preferably 1 of them a person with shadows and movement speed equip. Have that person go first and another person trail behind, you can usually warp before the first person dies.
Thanks for the help as always, everyone.
And Suiram, Aurik / Divisortheory answered my question, but what I actually meant was could you carby pull the chariot, have it spawn the gears, and have carby die without any consequence -- that would save a sac pull and give us one more body to have up and unweakened that wouldn't be normally to kill the gears alot faster.
The pairs thing sounds fine. I can't recall if we get a hermes quencher from a chest there, but I'll bring one around just in case.
Yeah, I buy a hermes in advance from AH, I've never seen one in a chest there. I wouldn't trust pairs personally unless there's movement+, and we don't typically fight anything for leg/feet slot.
PD + Flee works fine too, usually lasts long enough to get everything into a train. The Archaic Rampart isn't true sight or true sound, so all you have to is aggro enough stuff so that someone can make their way into the large room, and from there the second person can use his own oil + powder if necessary.Originally Posted by Suiram
Yeah, we did that fine last time, since I was on THF. This time around though.. more firepower, as THF's going to help us very little on the boss, sadly.
..Has anyone ever had a subjob cell drop from a Puk on the first floor, abilities for cockatrice? We were messing around on the first floor today in Zhayolm and got some REALLY odd drops today.
Apologies for not having screens to back this up, I spent alot of the run yelling at people and answering alot of needless questions that by the time I scrolled up, it was gone.
The entire floor has exactly the same drops every single time you do the zone.
Are you sure? I don't recall getting SJ cells from the puks.. even the Wiki didn't have it listed.
Yea I'm sure.
The 4 inner rooms of the map all have exactly 2 cell dropping mobs. Killing both cell dropping mobs results in 1 incus, 1 duplicatus, 1 praecipitatio, and 1 opacus for a total of 4x incus, 4x duplicatus, 4x praecipitatio, and 4x opacus from the 4 inner rooms.
The 3 outer rooms from each wing each have exactly 2 cell dropping mobs, which drop 1 cell each for type of cell that predominates that wing, and nothing else.
Still no word on the 4th and 5th floor Madame conditions.
I'm really starting to lean towards a random pop. I'm at the point where I think Zhayolm should go something like this:
1) Prepare for a boss run.
2) Get the bare minimum needed on 1F, rush to the 3rd floor, farm HP/MP cells, rush to 4F N.
3) If Madame isn't up clear shit asap and try to get to 5F.
4) If Madame isn't up race to 6F and go to boss, try to kill.
So you're really preparing for a boss run, and just doing the NMs if you get lucky.
Although I'd like to see someone clear the entire 6F. Most people ignore the 2 ramparts in the end rooms and don't bother clearing them, so we still don't know if that's the condition for the 6th floor.
I'm also still not sure if anyone has cleared 5F N.
As for the time, I think I figured out how to really cut down time spent in this zone. On the first floor, you split into two groups. First floor is the key, you need to get off it in 15 minutes.
Group 1: Clears the 4 center rooms in order, then outlying rooms of the SW wing. (preferably using the DAT trick as it shaves about 50% off of your time).
Group 2: Clear the outlying rooms of SE->NE->NW, invis'ing past all 4 Mamools, and sneak/invis'ing past all mobs that don't drop cells.
Using this method I think you can get off the first floor in about 15 minutes fully decked out. If you only have like 8 people, I think you can get by with clearing only the 4 inner rooms and nothing else.
On the second floor, clear the room you start in, then the mamool, then warp.
Third floor, clear first 3 rooms.
Fourth floor, warp immediately (if south), try to warp immediately (if north)
train 5th floor and have someone warp immediatley
This should put you on the top floor with approximately an hour left if you went south, and hopefully 40 minutes if you went north.
I don't think you can get any faster than this. The DAT trick and the fact that the 4 inner rooms of 1F drop everything you need is the key to getting off the first floor in <15 minutes
15 minutes on the first floor seems awfully fast. We didn't use any dat trickery, but it took my group ~19 minutes when we were rushing to the 4F. All we did was clear the 4 inner rooms, 1 room of lindwurms, and most of the wing of ziz. We would skip mobs if we got 2 drops in a room. And we skipped all the mamools.
