Poroggos can be slept with lullaby, just not 100%. Our pro puller seriously got every Poroggo in the room minus 2 on the first pull and we survived with just a few deaths. Our bards had instruments, CHR, and gear back at that point.

The north path most likely has the Poroggo Madame NM, but that's only if those Poroggos don't drop cells. The south path was just another ton of mobs giving more cells. I'm only assuming this based on how the third floor is set up with the mamools.

I'm just hoping these NMs aren't luck based like the Ramparts in Bhaflau, simply because it takes a considerable amount of time to clear entire rooms. And at least the Poroggo Madame on the third floor pops 100% when you clear the area. The only other possibility would be on the higher floors that the Poroggo Madame is a reinforcement.

Northern Poroggos do not drop cells.

My LS tried to pull them our first run.. yeah, went pretty bad =x Cleared maybe 70% of them before a wipe.

I read through the entire thread, and it doesn't seem like this zone is too bad for cell drops. If I'm reading things right, the first floor alone gives you a guaranteed 12 weapon, 12 subjob, 12 magic, and 12 abilities. I've only done Silver Sea mostly (and one Bhaflau), so I don't know what Zhayolm is like from experience.

This, at least, sounds better than Silver Seas where you're lucky if you have even 5 magic or abilities by the boss. lol

Huge loot pools is hardly a bad thing. Does the boss drop like 10 level 25 pieces or something?

Pretty sure he means "diverse". Like it's guaranteed to drop exactly 2 items every time, choosing from a loot pool of 25.

It is nice because you can target exactly the cells that you need. The problem with that is kind of a human one though: time management becomes an issue because it is easy to spend way more time than is really necessary on the first floor. The same is true for the second floor. I would recommend making a list of what cells everyone actually needs (opposed to those that would just be nice to have) and only getting those on the first floor (but also knowing that once you port up, you probably won't see any more of those cells for the rest of the zone).

Very true, and ive found card farming and mini NM farming easy in this zone, as a party or two can be equiped with JA/Weaps/Magic and be up to farming in about 30 or so minutes.

The hard part i havent overcome with this zone is farming with an alliance when going after the boss.

Needed Magic: Pld, nin, whm, blm, brd, rdm. In our group, typically 2 blms. So thats 7-8 Magics we need.

Needed weapons: Pld for sheild, Couple melee for SC, but few more helps just for farming rest so get 6-7 here.

Needed JA: Pld, Nin, Melees for SC, cor for rolls. So 5-6 here.

Then have to farm at least SOME armor on the second floor. Each wing only holds like two armor unlocks, body + another. So if you want to fight boss with more then just a bodya nd feet, have to clear entire room to open other doors and farm for more armor.

need to grab at least a couple stat cells and max hp/mp off the west path of floor 3.

    Can bypass floor 4, 5, 6 i guess.

But thats a Hell of alot of time just getting basic gear you need to fight the boss.

Any tips or clues you guys have come up with?

Has anyone ever even GOTTEN to the boss in Zhayolm? I don't think I've seen it mentioned anywhere. Fuck all those cells, get to the boss with an hour, doesn't matter what cells you have. Then learn about his moves and behavioral patterns so that next time you know what cells are necessary and what aren't.

Nobody knows how to get to the boss.

Everyone stops at the sixth floor:

    http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/maps_norma...remnants_6.jpg

The middle room has an Archaic Chariot roaming around. The two little rooms to the sides have Archaic Ramparts that spawn manticores. Once you pull the Chariot, a crapton of gear(s) spawn in the middle of the room.

The south room which is assumed to have the teleporter to the last floor is locked by a door that gives an ambiguous message of "...the door is sealed by a mysterious force." Something along those lines. Tyche's group killed the Chariot and the two ramparts and the door was still locked.

Short of killing all the gear(s) and the chariot, nobody is sure how to unlock the door.

Nobody's ever killed the 2 chariots on the previous floor either, I don't think.

Would seem awkward that something on floor 5 unlocks the door on floor 6, because you can't backtrack floors.

I know, seems odd to me too. I vaguely recall seeing an unconfirmed mention that a JP group had cleared the entire 6th floor though, and the gate didn't unlock. This could have been a different zone that I got confused with Zhayolm, or it could also have just been false.

Seem to remember the same thing. Perhaps one of the NMs that is a lotto pop of the Manticores unlocks it?

    Plausible possibilities:

Things we know: 2nd floor - You have to clear a room AND kill a NM Mamool Ja to make the other doors open. Perhaps a NM popped that the JP group didnt see after they cleared everything.

Perhaps killing the gears/ramparts isnt needed/enough. Perhaps you have to kill the NM that pops randomly from the Rampart(s) to get the door unlocked. (assumming the ramparts follow the same pattern of every other rampart).

If thats the case, jesus... only gonna have like 5 minutes once someone gets to the boss.

My group is farming lvl 15 body peices, cards, and a few NMs/bosses atm, so our next run in this zone may be a week or so, anyone wanna test this out?

I'm planning to do Zhayolm saturday. Never done it before, so no clue how far we'll even get, but assuming we make it to the 5th floor I do plan to make an attempt at the 2 Archaic Chariots guarding the center room and see what happens.

Make sure to read up on the whole topic, don't be like other people skipping all this info that's already been mentioned.

Is there anything remotely special about this zone that may require certain actions in the other zones to open this door?

It's doubtful but worth considering that this may be the "final" area of Salvage and they are intended to be done in a certain order...

Has a person who's completed Bhaflau or Silver Seas tried to open the final door in Arrapago or Zhayolm?

Each one of the "final" remnants areas (Zhayolm/Arrapago) correlate with 1 of the other 2 when it comes to Slot NMs (Zhayolm/Silver Sea and Arrapago/Bhaflau). Maybe you need to do something with Zhayolm/Silver Sea cards here? Or maybe the other 2 cards? I also remember some of the undersea remnants sections (the sections right before the actual Salvage zone) mirror each other with their maps. I'll go check out ffxi-atlas.com.

EDIT: The undersea mirroring are the same as the card relationships (Zhayolm/Silver Sea and Arrapago/Bhaflau).

You'll also notice that the glowing orbs reflect their positions on Alzadaal's map (i.e. Bhaflau is southeast, Nyzul is center). An Astral Plinith is in Nyzul Isle.

There are 5 Candesences, but 6 slots. Not counting the "man-made" Pliniths in Al Zahbi and the Beastmen territories, there should still be one more, the north one, which is the Candesence that is the subject of Besieged I'd guess.
