Bringing over 8 to Zhayolm is a huge headache, and you can do 5fn+6fn+boss with 6 pretty reliably.

Yeah, but I don't like to leave people out, as everyone in my group is a good bunch of friends for the most part, all pretty decent. We go with 8-10 usually, and it's not too bad if I make up the cell order beforehand. I got two more old friends who just left their HNM LS's Salvage due to retarded rules, so I wanted to try and work them in. No one else in the group is really leader material, except maybe one, but their jobs don't mesh well with others if we split up.

    Re: Salvage: Zhayolm Remnants

    Hi!

I would like some advice on the 6th floor of zhayolm on a boss run, here is my groups clear times on the whole remenants

    First floor 23 mins
    second floor 17 mins
    Third floor 10 mins
    fourth floor 3 mins
    Fifth floor 5 mins
    6th floor 42 minutes
    7th floor did not reach

We had great momentum going up the ruins everyone had most of what they needed unlocked. we had 9 people BLU PLD NIN WHM SMN THF RNG PUP RDM.

unfortunatly the only mnk we have is severly lagged behind in assault rank and has no static so he shows up randomly.

I've read that you should actually roam the room instead of camping in the little cubby in the south east.

We managed to kill all the gears in the room within 18 minutes, i think thats slow and timed out on chariot (see wiped) at around 10% i say timed out because we had 3 mins left anyway.

the gears don't sleep and they link so how do you do this without getting yourselves killed?

Everyone in this run has atleast 2 jobs avail. to them.

Gears can all be solo pulled, if you do manage to get a link, grav and bind work. As for you taking that long to clear the floor? more emphasis on your dd...jeez with 6 people that floor takes 15-20 mins :X

I think the reason we took so long was the amount of time we between pulls rather than the dds, as we had a smn go out carbuncle pull and trail it back in which took some time, thanks for the response though it helps

absolutely no reason to smn pull. I either pull it as thief, or if we're going for speed, wejust have the bard pull it (so I can focus on DD) I can honestly say pull speed is about one of the most important things in salvage. You cant dick around.

the gears have a very easy pattern, you shouldn't get links

To avoid the positioning issues that I see many groups have on their first BC runs do any players happen to use distance windower plugin and know how far everyone should stand away from the tank and from BC himself? If I read correctly Discoid is a 10' radius around the tank but how wide of an AOE are the regular AOE's the chariots use? Would standing 9.9 away from the tank work?

It's 10 from tank, the other AoEs are 10 from BC. So if you used distance plugin, you'd just want to make sure that you were less than 10 from tanks and greater than 10 from him. I don't use distance plugin, however, so what I do is just have tanks aggro it and nobody touch it while we get into position. Then when it seems like we're in the right spot I curaga myself or healing breeze depending upon what job i'm on, and if it hits tanks then we're in discoid range, and everyone else comes and stands on top of me and we start damage. Usually it's clear that we're far enough away from BC to avoid discharge/inertia stream, but occasionally if I misjudge and we're too close, it's pretty easy to take one or two steps to correct it when it happens the first time. After that you just stay in those spots until it's dead, with the exception of the brd who always has a reference point to return to anyway.

You can avoid Diffusion Ray by positioning the group to the left of right of its conal effect, while being positioned correctly for Discoid.

    Re: Salvage: Zhayolm Remnants

I would love to browse through this thread for the answer to the question that I'm about to ask, but, yeah it's 66 pages and I haven't really read any of them. So yeah, this is pretty concise but. Could someone give me a very quick run-down of the best PATH to take to clear Battleclad Chariot? We plan on using a somewhat heavy melee strategy (no MNKs, though) so the most gear/stats as possible would be best.

    Thanks.

Please do not lynch me for linking the "other" wiki but I located this boss run guide awhile back. Not sure how accurate it is since this is the one chariot we've yet to do but:

    Re: Salvage: Zhayolm Remnants

The way we used to do it was gear 2 tanks fully, widescanning the top mob from the group of 2-3 by the door to NW/SW/SE rooms after clearing NE, or alternatively clearing them until a set drops it if we don't have a RNG. Then get HP for as many people as possible minus 3 on 3rd floor and as much MP as we can get in that time. Then port up, kill Zenist > kill rampart > port. Train 5th floor > port. Kill gears > gear > chariot > port. Then go boss. Now we usually just do 5N + 6F madames with time for boss at the end, but that's the kind of thing that just comes with a little experience. Alternatively, with the zone now figured out, you could just do madame runs and slowly find yourself with more and more time left at the end until you are able to kill the boss. I'd probably recommend that.
