Guess my chi gear isn't really that lol-able? I just took my rdm's mnd gear (lv47 or 48, forgot) and mixed it in with a kirin pole and osode =xOriginally Posted by aurik

As long as you get over 100 total mnd, it's decent. My kirin chi gear is +77, but most of that stuff is stashed on a mule since it never sees use.Originally Posted by Julian
Yeah, what I'm saying is that if he wasn't exaggerating / jesting, wouldn't it be odd for his Chi Blasts to do the same (300ish) if in one scenario, he didn't have full MND gear aside from an Osode, yet we killed gears, versus another scenario where he had the gear, and no gears were killed.I did 500 chi blasts without killing any gears at all. 650 with a bard etuding me. (I didn't get to remove my mnd limiter either)
I'll test for sure next run.
do not think the gears in this zone have anything to do with boss, because there's a dormant rampart in the dat on each lvl aside from 5th (boss) but nobody's found lvl3 and 4's ramparts.
I highly suspect the gears to play a big role.
LS won last night
Drops: Bodb Crown and Bodb Robe ; ;
Interesting: Sorry to ask if this has been already, but were their mobs associated with the gears (like the widow and such)? If that's the case, killing the gears may still yield worthwhile resultsdo not think the gears in this zone have anything to do with boss, because there's a dormant rampart in the dat on each lvl aside from 5th (boss) but nobody's found lvl3 and 4's ramparts.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but Gate Widow is NOT 100% pop. I hit Dormant Rampart with one bloody bolt to get him to start popping Chigoe, which took off 4% of his HP. After that, we did not touch him again until he died on his own (since he loses 1% HP every Chigoe pop), and we never got a single Gate Widow.
Today's run went pretty well, my first in Bhaflau. This has probably been answered, but is there any trick to killing the triple Archaic Gears on the third floor? It did 1 AOE that wiped half of our alliance basically which was fully equipped / HPed / etc. Im guessing competent stunners but we didn't have many.
Not sure what the pop conditions are for it, but we killed all 4 and it did not pop. Someone mentioned some theories on how you kill the flans, but no idea.Killed S, E, N, W flans and Rampart popped in west room, if it helps at all.
If you read the very first post of the thread it shows you the list of mobs. It shows 4 ramparts and 4 sets of mini mobs + NMs.Originally Posted by Ayn

We had the same thing happen to us. Killed Mad Bomber and took DR. I flashed RR to get it going and it spawned 100 chigoe and died. Never poped a Widow for us, so lame.
Gate Widow just seems completely random, as does Skirmish Perphredo. It's definitely not 100% though.
One time we didn't have it pop a single time through the entire duration that Reactionary Rampart was alive. Another time, we had it pop twice in the first 25%. as far as I know, we didn't do anything differently.
We've been experimenting with trying to pop the 3rd floor Dormant Rampart but haven't had any luck yet.
Is there a point to killing Archaic Chariot?
And has anyone successfully made it all the way through floor 4 without aggroing a single thing?
Don't know (rumored to affect movement speed), and yes, I've gone through the entire floor without aggro'ing. Real tough, though.
it doesn't affect movement speed.
How hard do the chigoes hit? We never ran into this. Do they rape people or hardly do any dmg?
Hardly any damage. Kill Mad Bomber without having him self destruct on you then you can warp to a room where this window looking thing keeps spawning chigoes. They're really easy though, nobody ever went yellow while we were fighting them, and you almost never have more than 1 Chigoe at a time.Originally Posted by Lordwafik
ok, can you have more than 1 up at once? (this is key for my next question).
Yes. The rampart spawns them automatically at fixed time intervals. If the first one isn't dead yet when he pops the next one, you've got 2. Most we ever had up at once was 2.Originally Posted by Lordwafik
Also, it should be noted that each time he spawns one, he loses 1% of his HP until he dies.
ok, well considering there's only 5 Chigoe in the whole entire dat, holding them all should force gate widow to spawn. Anytime you have one held you are decreasing the chance for a chigoe to pop and increasing the chance for a widow.
5 chigoe, 1 widow, all share the same pop so at the start it's a 1/6 chance for gate widow, if you kill a chigoe you reset 1/6, etc, however holding a chigoe will then turn it into a 1/5, 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, and finally 1/1. I'm sure he'll have a "Maximum spawn limit" but if you're confident in holding them, get a PLD to hold them so they can shield block and take 0 dmg.
The losing 1% thing actually seems to be a timed thing ... it is not directly related to the summoning of the chigoes.
There can be up to 5 chigoes summoned at once. If all chigoes are up at once, it will continue losing health but will stop summoning.
I have damage filtered, but I can tell you that as a main healer, with fully-equipped melees, I rarely had to throw out any cures. Usually a regular Regen was enough to keep anyone that started getting hurt back up to normal.
Lame, so you guys tested it, ok. If you're 100% about that then that sucks, because that trick works on other NMs I try that are similar, oh well.Originally Posted by Sykes
