X on the AF gloves. We can try that next time, but seems like a big difference. My standard dagger swings with mandau were also doing around 19, if Wafik has gone as THF you can compare that to his.Originally Posted by aurik

AF gloves make a huge difference, approximately doubling damage.Originally Posted by divisortheory
My melee damage on various runs both with and without killing off the gears/chariots on lower floors was similar, about .75-1.0 x WD with no bard, 1.0-1.5 with minuets and zerk and shit. I don't think killing gears affects him at all, people just made that shit up.
Wafik usually doesn't go thf to boss runs.
Also worth mentioning. Use a fucking earth staff on this guy. Maybe we went on the wrong day of the week, but even with a Soul Voiced mambo x2, full evasion set, evasion earring + merited evasion, our NIN evaded about 10% of attacks. He hits like a fucking mac truck as well, normal attacks were 400+ with crits for over 700.
Next time we're thinking about having both NINs sleep TP to 300 with a Sword before engaging, open with Spirits Within x2 then switch to earth staff for the duration of the fight.
We used pld/nins, shield is wonderful. His base damage seems to be 300-400, which means lolvit, but his attack is fairly low. Often he was hitting unblocked for some 100s number. When he crits, it was nearly 600 dmg.
Base damage is approx crit_av - norm_av.
That's odd. According to the PLD we took that time (who has good gear, but no K.Body/Surcoat/Aegis) etc. said "50-70 with shield block. 150-180 unblocked. I only found myself casting Ni because I wasn't taking enough damage"We used pld/nins, shield is wonderful. His base damage seems to be 300-400, which means lolvit, but his attack is fairly low. Which is about what I just said <_< some 100s number unblocked. Crits are much, much higher because once again, high base dmg, low attack.Originally Posted by Ayn

Buh? Was it blinded? I've tanked this thing a half dozen times now and I use a piddly amount of evasion and it probably misses around 20%. And did you unlock AGI for your tank? I usually solo tank it on NIN/WAR, and the best setup seems to be haste gear and double march. Melee with katanas so people can actually damage it. Make sure slow and elegy is on it, or you're in for a lot of pain. Only cast Ni after it uses a WS. I usually can go Ni->Ichi and by the time I run out of shadows it'll do another WS and I can cast Ni again.Originally Posted by divisortheory
Oh I also snag every sort of melee potion on the way up, and I start the fight with the boosted atk, acc, crit rate, etc. Body boost also lasts quite a while and it's really easy to get well over 2k HP with it. So if you give your Ninjas that, then the spirits within might be worth it. But save yourself some time and just have them build TP on some mobs and then port up, sleeping to 300 TP takes a while. Also if they use the body boost before porting up to the last floor, they'll get their HP filled.
also make sure you unlock mnd for your rdm. Para works wonder on it, it can even para homing missle.
Um, I'm not going to say there's no way that's possible because there's some weird things in the game. But paralyze should have no effect on weaponskills, so I really doubt it.Originally Posted by Muze
Maybe it's not TP based, the same way Chi Blast isn't TP based.Originally Posted by Sci
I would think BPs would be a better comparison, since they "ready" like a weapon skill or enemy skill, but don't use TP and can get paralyzed (I think? It's been forever but I'm fairly certain I would always get pissed when my avatars get paralyzed a second before I click on the BP). But then again I don't really know much about Chi Blast or Monk in general.Originally Posted by divisortheory
well Chi is a /ja so you can get paralyzed while trying to execute it.
avatars dont get paralyzed during a BP, however you can get paralyzed while trying to issue a BP (cause its a /ja)
A paralyzed avatar attempting to execute a Bloodpact will not get paralyzed on the attack (it's an avatar's weaponskill). A mob's TP attacks will never be blocked by Paralyze.Originally Posted by Sagacious Sundi
However, on the summoner side, Bloodpacts are considered the summoner's JAs, and if the summoner is paralyzed when trying to issue the command, paralyze can block the command and restart the timer.
The only number that looks crazy compared to the damage we've seen is the 1945 sidewinder. Maybe flashy shot has a huge effect on this guy or something though, because i'm not even sure the rng has it that we take. Monks chi blast with unlocked mind seems to average around 400-500.
After fighting LBC 7-8 times, I don't feel that killing gears or chariots on the fourth floor have any effect on the strength of the boss.
The 1945 is unbelievable to me as well but it is mentioned that it was a Yoichi RNG so I won't argue something that I really have no experience with. My 2x Minuet / Sushi / E-Bow / LV 8 Archery / Flashy Shot Sidewinder did just into the 600's hence my amazement at the 1945.
How many hits landed? I can ask our Annihilator RNG how much his Slugs were doing.Originally Posted by Wulfgang
eh? slugwinder is 1 hit, even though the animation looks like more shots....
i think the descreption used to say/still says "delivers inaccurate shot that deals quadruple damage" ... (not sure about that)
Err, I fail. I had it confused with either the 5x TP modifier or 5x shots from Barrage. Or maybe both, lol.Originally Posted by safer
