Speaking of which, how often was it using TP with nobody engaged? Can you estimate how fast its TP regen is?

And you said Stun is about equal to provoke, yet you didn't have any problems with stun getting resisted? Our BLMs and DRK both were getting resisted with capped Dark Magic skill after probably only 5 or 6 stuns.

With only 2 erasers in the tank party. . things did get a little hectic. Perhaps it was a mistake, but one of the main reasons I left a RNG in the tank party was due to him having a Yoichi, so an attempt to maximize the damage from that. However, I think I can switch out a WAR/NIN next time for a BLM. . that way there's an extra person benefitting from ballad, and an extra erase.

There are still some tweaks in strategy to do, though.

I know we went with PLD/WAR last time, and that seemed to have few problems holding hate. The problem is that paired alongside a NIN, it becomes a bit uneven.

I'm looking forward to when we try a successful run again, but rather discouraged from the long string of failures that *could* have been successes, so I'll likely be attempting.. Silver Sea, or Arrapago next, to make use of our Bhaflau cards..as well as benefit from an Arrapaggo card when we do attempt Bhaflau again.

is not Pld/war can't put in enough hate, is that his losing hate too fast
Why not just move the whm to tank pt, and exchange a bard inside the 2nd pt? that why all the melee can get minuet. Have the pld go /nin next time and probabbly have better result.

Yeah, I would definately exchange out close class melee to long range DPS.
    Reason been:
    1. Extra mp to keep them alive.
    2. Extra people that'll need erase incase he turned.

You still generate hate even though the stun is resisted.

Actually, he had no problem both getting and holding hate. This isn't an Aegis/Surcoat/etc. PLD, but a very well equipped one. BRD was in the tank party so that the PLD could get Ballad, NIN could get march. I may have him go /NIN again next time, if only so the hate between he and the NIN will be more stable -- bringing another PLD is an option I'd rather save as a total last resort, as our group is a fairly close-knit one.

I'm not entirely sure if that was directed at my strategy (apologies if it wasn't). I'd be tempted to bring another RNG, except that our WAR/NIN makes the first few floors *up* to LBC such cake (Ridill/Adaberk WAR. Yes, in something like Salvage you *do* notice the impact). The MNK can attack from a distance. . the WAR and I can at the very least, build TP from a distance. It's a bit trickier (in that we have to hold our WSes and run in just after a TP move) but still effective with coordination, which our group has.

Stun was pretty much always resisted. It's a little too inconsistent for me to include in our strategy, even from a drk or blm. That said, it still creates the same amount of hate, whether resisted or not. As far as TP regen, it definitely has regen, though I don't know a scale I could measure it on.. not nearly as much as Fafnir. Another thing to consider is when one tank has hate, the backup tank who is building hate cannot melee without being at risk of eatting missiles. So from ranged only, /drk is quite a bit superior to /war.

I was thinking, you guys know how assissan drink increase magic accuracy?
Is it possible for a rdm/drk pop that drink and spam CS stun? or is the resisting work in a different way

The TP regen, not shockingly, kicks into high gear when it gets low on HP. Low HP Fafnir is a good estimate of the TP regen. Solo tanking it gets to be a real bitch then, because it's pretty much impossible to avoid homing missiles completely at that point. And I really want to melee with katanas for the hate, but earth staff becomes really desirable with all the face tanking you have to do as a result of the TP move shadow rapage.

Just had a thought, but has anyone ever tried sticking a Dark Threnody on the boss to see if it helps Stun resist rate?

It kicks you out with a "win" instead of a "loss". Which right now is functionally no different. No title or anything.

We always use two PLD/NINs for this, and never lose hate unless a freak HM happens to get off. Even then, it's really easy to grab it back with a Rampart or Sentinel (even moreso with a Flash).

Two well-geared PLDs take very little damage from this mob's melee hits, just the AoEs really. And that can be dealt with very easily. No Aegis, but one D. Ring for our tank setup.

Anyway, the other strat that seems to work very well is to bring one PLD/WAR and just have him keep hate with Flashes and Cures, saving Provoke for Homing Missle.

There's an Aegis PLD on Fairy whose shell uses this strategy and they've gone 5/5 or 6/6 on wins. Then again, I'm sure the Aegis helps out a lot (-25% damage from Homing Missle, unless I'm wrong in assuming that it's not magical damage).

Anyway, I love the strategy we use. :D Two PLD/NINs at 90 degrees, quick Erases so that you can move, and saving JAs for HM.

Apparently percentile-based damage of this sort can be reduced by appropriate damage reduction gear? I think I read something like that on the wiki about something. I've never looked into it, however.

I think its % attack because I had taken 2 in a row and not been killed by it. People usual die from its aoe after homing missle landed.

Colossal Blow from Omega is a similar % based attack, and I'm almost certain I took reduced damage from it with post-update Sentinel on. So if anything that would imply physical damage, but a special kind like 1000 needles?

I'm not sure why whether or not Homing Missile being a percentile-based attack is being presented as a question. It's been known to be a % attack since the first time anyone ever posted about LBC.
