Judah, did you kill the flans in a certain order each time?
Were people using Dia/Bio or additional effect weapons like Sirocco/Algol/etc.?4. Killshot on North/South was BLM, no nukes were used on West/East
Not sure if there should be a boss only thread, but I'll post here for now.
Our usual boss strat is everyone stand at where LBC is at start, while the 2 NIN/WAR tanks stand on 2 sides of the platform. This way, all mages will be out of all AoE except for Homing Missile. And every time HM is used, everyone but the second tank will get hit by it. This way everyone but the second tank is guaranteed to have hate cleared pretty often.
Everything above seems good, though we have yet to win with this strategy. Always wiped at around 10% or less. Few of the problems:
- LBC doing AoE while moving from 1 tank to the other, killing low HP (from HM) mages - This can be avoided by letting mages move further inside the platform.
[/*:m:37246]- Someone too far back in the platform not getting hit by HM, pulling LBC there and wiping the mages Faust style - Solution would be the current tank with LBC moves closer to the platform, so everyone on it eats HM.
[/*:m:37246]- Homing Missile kills - I didn't believe the MNK in our group saying he got killed by HM 2 times in the past until I was killed by it twice myself in the last run. No additional hits in the log, no AoE right after HM. Just HM hits and "i was defeated by LBC". Not quite sure what to do for this
[/*:m:37246]
Here's the outline of our positioning.
Code:||Mages || || || === === Tank1 | | Tank2 (LBC) (LBC)
I don't have much to add onto that last post but just to let you know I got hit by a HM when I had 6 HP and I still didn't die.. so I'm not sure how it killed you >_>
We're considering using a strategy similar to that with two minor alteration.
1) Mages stand in the hallway where you enter LBCs room, not on his platform.
2) A RDM/NIN stands on the platform and generates hate, but tries to stay behind the 2 tanks in the hate queue. The advantage of a RDM/NIN is they can generate hate fast as shit by spamming various spells like Sleep II and Dispel, etc, so ifthere's ever an "oh shit" moment where he goes after a mage, just have the RDM start spamming to get it back to the center.
hi
first time posting but after seeing some of u guys with trouble to pop rampart on lvl 2 and with some "we tried and always worked for us 100%" tactic, heres the real deal:
Flans have a angry mode.....That means he will have "sharp pointed horns" on his head after a certain point of time. SOmething like breaking weapons, but i dunno if crit play a part.
However if u just simply melee all flans without WS, or magic, it will turn to this mode, just a matter of time how long he lives
when u see the sharp pointed horns on his head, u can kill it, but my advise is, keep meleeing unbtil 20 or so % then u full attack it with WS or nukes. U DONT WANT HIM TO GO BACK NORMAL MODE(i dunno if they will reset but u don wanna risk, do u?)
The NS magical flans r easier to make angry mode since they strong to melee, WE flans turn angry faster i think
with all flans in angry mode "horns on head", u get rampart to pop
Theres this multi hit WS it does, when he uses it, he have sharp horns too, but if he used the WS and in normal attack he dont have the horns, that means hes not angry yet. Its just the WS animation.
This is the real pop condition for rampart on lv 2
However the bloody bee NM, is currently like 0/400 for my Salvage LSs
i strongly think theres a pop condition to it ;\
we tried keeping all 5 bees to see if a 6th pop (since max is 5): no luck
we tried keeping all 5 bees up, and only kill 1, so only 1 repop and rampart wait for u to kill: no luck
finally, sorry for weak english, i am from singapore lol
Can anyone provide screenshots that demonstrate the visual difference between "angry" and "not angry"?
i will be demonstrating it to my 2nd salvage LS on saturday, i'll post for u asap after it
basically its something like
^^^ <- pointed on the flans head lol

SE just pulled up verts, lol.Originally Posted by aurik

edit : Gah I got beat.
ah yes thats the one
when u see the horns, u kill it
do it for all 4 and rampart will pop in W or E side
i hope it helps so more people have a shot at the rampart, and pls tell me the bee NM is not random, cos i am sick of no NM after all the trouble -_-
Nice post Arthars.
I'm pretty sure you can't die still unless he's wearing something that's increasing the damage. This happened to a PLD twice on one of our first runs, but we figured out why... He was wearing Jelly Ring. If you're wearing any kind of +magic damage taken then Homing Missle can kill you. But, after removing the ring, on the last 4 wins (and 3 losses) no one has ever died to a Homing Missle, even at 1 HP.Originally Posted by ntgn
I know it's been said before but I'll repeat it. Don't try to let the rampart summon all the normal mobs in hopes that it will spawn the NM. It loses HP based on time, not summons, and it won't summon if 5 mobs are up. So by holding mobs, you're just wasting time and the rampart's HP. I've seen as many as 3 NMs pop from the same rampart. We just always kill the summons as fast as we can, to the point were there's often 0 up. That time 3 NMs popped was nice, got two drops. :D
Thanks for the reply. I didn't have Jelly Ring or any +magic dmg taken gear on. Unless BQ ring has anything to do with it. I didn't die from the first 5-6 HM on that same run, but then 2 deaths in a row. First one did around 1050 dmg and killed me, forgot about the second one, I was weakened then.Originally Posted by RKenshin
possibly the way dmg is calcualted with gear that adds +hp ?
If it is magic dmg, is it possible there is a random day bonus on it? Could be light based, or dark based. I would have thought missile has no element like spirit within and the like tho
-HP maybe, but not +HP.Originally Posted by Lordwafik
Worst case scenario, it counts all your +HP and is a % of your max modified HP which gives you the biggest damage (but still can't kill you).
Best case, it doesn't count any +HP and is a % of your max unmodified HP, which gives you a lower damage which still can't kill you.
It could be in-between, and is calculated using only main armor slot HP mods, like some other items do. This will give a damage somewhere in the middle between the two above scenarios, but still won't kill you.
The only way counting or not counting HP gear will allow you to get killed is if you were a mage wearing -HP gear and it didn't count -HP gear in its damage calculation.
cant be, it has to be calculated by current hp otherwise it would kill people.Originally Posted by Lordwafik
