Did you "aggro" any of the Archaic Gear, causing them to teleport away?

Not as far as I know. I wasn't the one that fleed to the teleporter - and I forgot to ask him - and we never got close to any gear mob on the 3rd floor.Originally Posted by Stellar
So you straight tanked LBC?
And it looks like blm owns him pretty well, compared to other stuff at least.
Drops?
For a good part of the fight - at least until that first difficult Homing Missile - we used just the PLD/NIN and the NIN to tank it. At some point, the PLD/NIN was able to tank it himself with an occasional TA+Gekko from our SAM/THF (the SAM usually only did SA+Gekko).Originally Posted by Neosutra

My LS went tonight and followed the strat mentioned before. It worked extremely well and we arrived at LBC with plenty of time and almost all of our abilities unlocked. We wiped at 40-46% but we learned a few things:
1) PLD/WAR is not good for this mob. We had 2 PLD/WARs and they kept taking quite a beating, causing the WHM and RDMS to run out of mp and ultimately led to our wipe. We are trying tomorrow with PLD/NINs and are confident we will be able to win.
2) Stunning Homing Missles IS exteremely difficult. We had 3 established stunners, including myself, and no matter how fast we were, HM got off. Some stuns were resisted as well.
3) Homing Missiles seems to be a gravija type move and will not kill anyone. Incredibly annoying but not deadly. Inertia Crash, however, hurts.
4) BLM damage was solid and resistances decreased as its HP went down. They can average a 600-700 Blizzard IV MB if a darkness skillchain is set up.
5) There are two portals on the top floor. Do they lead anywhere?
Good luck! I'm glad that you were able to make some sense out of my post.Originally Posted by Toth
Hmm. I wonder if there is a lot of lag in this area. This is the only area where POL will crash, and I also seem to have latency issues - this is why I'm not in the tank party during Salvage even though I'm tank's WHM everywhere else.Originally Posted by Toth

Oh, crap, I forgot to take off the "Attacks evaded by foes" filter. I couldn't tell if any of our Stuns were resisted. From my SS Log, our stunners prevented quite a few Homing Missile attacks - this was the only mob special that we attempted to stun.
What?! Two portals? Do you mean on the LBC floor? (I've never thought to look anywhere on that floor other than straight ahead to LBC.)Originally Posted by Toth
Those 2 portals seem to exist on the boss floor of every zone (at least we confirmed them in Silver Sea). I can tell you that they are inactive after the boss is aggro'd (we tried checking them out after we wiped). I don't know if they're any different before though because we didn't even try stepping on one just to see if it was active.Originally Posted by Toth
the two portals are most likely to finish the mission off, don't see any other reason for having them in the boss room. All assault style missions have an exit condition, some are defeating the boss, but defeating the boss according to everyone's SS's, keeps you inside. So lot your shit and use the porters to leave.
Other missions like The Ashu Taliff for barbosa pants have a gate you click once your loot is settled.
We did a run last night with 15 people. Most were full geared except for rings/earring. We only killed 1 nm being the mad bomber(first time we ever saw it on the west side). Multiple archiac gears were agroed as we were trying to get to the LBC with as much time as possible . Ever since we got the remnants card from the Archiac Chariot we just skip the entire 4th floor.
We got to the LBC with 25 minutes remaining. We used 2x pld/nin as tank. We got it down to 5% before we ran out of time. I really don't think the NM's have anything to do with weakening the LBC. We didn't kill any extra NM's last run and got it down to 50%. We didn't realize we could stun homing missle. If it is stunned does it just spam it again right after stun is off?. If it doesn't then this thing is a joke... I have pics down to 13% before I died to homing missle. Wish i would have remembered to put reraise up again ><.
I thought I'd mention that the archaic gears might strengthen the boss when they teleport and weaken it if defeated. The only way to not have them teleport is to get an attack off before they aggro you. When they link I think they both teleport too, at least from my experience, unless I got too close.
For the boss I would say melees sleep TP, set up a stun order, PLD/WAR(ours didn't have a problem) kite and set up skillchains for blizzard type magic bursts. Boss can be paralyzed and slowed pretty easy, I think that's been mentioned though. Don't bother trying to gravity or bind.
Has anyone finished (successfully) any Salvage? Have you guys tried trading Bhaflau Cards to "Slot"? As I read on JP forums - it will probably finish the run.
We had 2 PLDs/WAR in full Koenig (one with a d. ring too) tanking it and it was very difficult to keep their HP up. They did mention that the damage fluctates ala Khimaira. I am psyched to try it again tonight with the new setups (we had no NINs either).
As for stunning, all 3 of us could not have had lag that caused us to mis the stuns. We tried at least 7 times and no matter what, HM went off. I am surprised to hear someone died to it though. For us, it was just a powerful Demi move.
Pretty sure wafik tried trading bhaflau card to the slot already but nothing happened. I also tried trading zhaylom card to the slot as well with no result. On the wiki it says you trade a cell to pop an NM that'll drop two more cells of same type; though I did that in zhayolm with the socket not sure if it is the same with the slot in bhaflauOriginally Posted by huckster
Our group has traded a Bhaflau Card and a Cell to the Slot and nothing happened for both. This slot still appears to be a mystery.
Oh, and for Mad Bomber, last night we cleared floor 1 to get as much gear as we could, then went and killed him. It was very easy with weapons/spells/gear/etc. He didn't drop anything, and no Rampart door appeared. We have had the door appear after killing the 4 flan on the second floor though, this must not be 100%.
We have all 4 cards now so I want to try trading them to a gateway and to a slot if we end up doing a salvage today.
wow all 4 cards >_> hardcore lol
If those ideas fail, it'll suck since Arrapago was a complete waste of time, except for the card.

It seems like LBC does a different form of regular attack based on where you're standing in relation to it. This was our first serious attempt at fighting it, so I can't exactly say where you should stand and what you should do - however, towards the beginning of the fight I was getting slammed for 120-300 per hit (non-blocked), but then halfway for some reason he stopped slamming into me and instead started shooting me with these little red lasers for like 40-70 damage. I'm not sure what triggered this, but I think it has something to do with the tanks positioning.
LBC doesn't actually turn with you unless you're standing on the other side of him. He's very much like a wyrm, in that you can move around in front of him quite a bit and still be considered "in front of him" (i.e., he doesn't turn just ten degrees to face you if you strafe over a bit).
Either way, we got this mob to 40% with two PLD/WAR tanks only, and we still had a good 15+ minutes left when we WIPED to LBC, so I'm almost positive that with PLD/NIN tanks and a bit more cell farming (we still had DDs who didn't have body armor, etc.), we can finish him off without too much of an issue.
And for the record: we followed Wunjo's strat to the T, however, on floor 3 we still couldn't get to the "Black Pudding" area that you mentioned. There's a door blocking access to it - how did you guys get there?
Oh, and Sentinel = hits for 0, 9, 0 11.
<3 it.
For killing archiac gears. We used holy on a gear at one point during the last run and it immediately despawned. I really have no clue what the hell those things are floor except to waste time. Agroeding them didn't make the boss harder, if anything it was easier than 2 runs ago when we didn't agro any when we got LBC to 50%. We're going tomorrow. I can take pics and explain how we did it once we know what we're doing, now that we know we can stun homing missle >_>. Homing missle was really the only thing that held us back from winning, within the time limit.
