Does this tend to happen in a row of trying to Stun it?

The reason I ask is because some mobs in TAU have been displaying unusual behavior regarding magic accuracy/potency based on unseen "forms" they might be in.

For instance, Cerberus will sometimes take additional damage from magic, and sometimes it'll reduce it down to about 50% like a CoP Wyrm. Example: My base Nether Blast damage is 523 with 3 Avatar Magic Attack merits. During its reduced magic defense phase, Nether Blast can oftentimes hit around 580ish with no Darksday effect and no Dream Shroud. In fact, my record Nether Blast damage on Cerberus is 648 on Lightningday with a 1:00 Dream Shroud.

There is seemingly no trigger when its mode "switches".

Are we sure the Salvage bosses aren't similarly programmed, with these various "defense modes"? It could possibly explain why some people have noticed nerfs regarding Souleater damage and others haven't.

    This can probably fix that.
It won't if it is a resist trait (rather than just high lightning defense) but yea give that a shot on a rdm/drk, let us know how it works.

I'm probably gonna just go on blu. Lost to LBC enough times already. >.< No need to be reckless some more. >.>

But as a trait, Ive never had stun resisted say "Resist!". It would be a regular resist message.

We tried an Earth Threnody actually and our BLMs were not resisting stun nearly as much after that.

we're trying the boss tonight for our first time (been playing around with other zones past little while) and im still not sure what the best approach to killing this would be

im not too fond of the zerg plan because it seems too chaotic and tbh im not sure how to even handle LBC after everyone unloads everything they have if its not enough...

im leaning towards a more controlled fight with multiple tanks with 1 tank out of homing missile range incase he does fire it off, so that LBC doesnt go eatting our mages... only problem i fear is that with longer fights, you have greater chance of something going wrong that'll totally end it =/

if everyone attends tonight we'll have a group that looks like this:

    whm
    whm
    nin
    nin (or mnk/rng)
    nin (or pld)
    mnk
    mnk
    mnk (or rng)
    mnk (or blm)
    rng
    rng (or brd)
    blm
    blm
    brd (or rdm)
    blu (or kraken drk)
sam (or kraken drk / ridill war)

that seems like a really nice setup(little low on the support side maybe), but for most people it will be their first time at the boss, and for some it'll be their first time in any salvage zone

im planning on farming the first floor, then second floor for magic... then running pretty much straight to the boss.. hoping to have at least 40min for the fight

    any suggestions?

Actually it wasn't a typo, it was just me being stupid and not knowing what I'm talking about lol. I got confused with the actual spell element, and the element that it weakens. It ws actually Lightning Threnody that was used though.

To Safer: Get those 2 RNGs. RNG is totally awesome for this boss, highly underrated. you have a shitton of MNKs already, and 1 NIN is plenty.

Well the zerg strat would only be done at 20%. Before then its a safe happy thing where it isn't completely nuts.

And yeah I thought you meant that, as soon as I read that I thought you lowered its resist to earth first or something, then did thunder.

And oh yeah, the wiki says that by killing the 3rd floor single gears or something will take out the add effect on LBC's weapon skills. Is there any truth in that? Like if it did that aoe bind+dmg it would just do damage. That seems super easy to test.

There's no truth to it, but test it if you wish. It's typical retard-rumor-mongering.

wamouracampa on the first floor west usually drop em...

if you go through 3 and dont get any, then you must be REALLY unlucky.

Trolls also I think. I just remember getting like 5 from a single mob once.

If anyone goes for Ramparts any time soon can you try doing a darkness chain and bursting a bunch of ice spells on the 2 triple gears on 3F? You'd need to build TP outside on flans, then open with the darkness chain and try to kill it asap. On our last run we got the first geat to 15% before it even lost a single gear, so I'm pretty sure it's possible to kill them in 3 gear mode if you're fast.

Also I don't think it does Homing Missile until it gets under around 80%.
I once brought a PLD who never had the pleasure of tanking LBC to Bhaflau. He failed to pull LBC all the way off of his platform, and stood awkwardly to what he thought was the side. At 95% HP, he and I (MNK using Hundred Fists) ate Homing Missile, so LBC is definitely capable of using missiles right away if you're not positioned properly.

On Stun: I'd like to know what other groups have determined is the average rate of a successful Stun spell on LBC. A BLM in my static reports that he has never been resisted in 15 casts. I say he's just lucky, but he says I'm crazy to claim that LBC tends to resist Stun.

Are we certain that LBC simply has "a high chance to resist," or is it a resistance that builds from repeated casts?

I would say resist build based on my experience. I dont remember having any trouble landing the first 10 stun, but was getting 1/2 resist after, and more.

Just thought i'd post my experience since it was being discussed.

The last time I fought LBC we opened with my Rdm/Drk chainspell stunning while some other melee went balls to the wall. My Rdm only has a dark torque, crimson finger gauntlets and a jupiter staff to help with dark skill gear and resist rate. Rest of the gear I just try and pump out Int as much as I can.

I was able to use an Assassin's Drink for the CS-Stun, and the only stun that got resisted was the last one I cast as CS wore off.

I don't know if the Assassin's Drink was still in effect near the end of the CS, as at that point I was focusing on other things (namely running the hell away from LBC). However I was unable to land another Stun for the majority of the fight after that until the very end. Wish I could recall of the Blm's were being resisted or not, but I tend to filter that information. Hope this helps a little bit.

    Data

Well my new salvage LS just went on our first run last night. 8 of us went in 7 of us came out lol.

    setup:
rdm blm(2) mnk(2) nin ranger drk

the nin had an emergancy and ditched us right after porting up from 1st floor.

    Mad Bomber
    Earthday WXC 21%
    Entered salvage at 2:00
    Pop: G-8

we got bomber down to 47% before he blow up everyone had a weapon but we had not went up to get mp from wamouras yet.

next we went and killed wamoura and trolls then headed up to floor 2 admittedly a little early because we all had hp weapons and rings but we each had only 1 piece of armor.

we killed flans in the order we got to them from the first and moving counter clockwise. the crown of spikes started after about to 4 hit on each of them and never went off. we used WS freely. I did not let the blm nuke until the N/S was at 40% and the W/E was at 20%. it did not take to long to kill them and rampart did pop.

entered rampart. rested for a min then casted gravity only on the rampart. the rampart started sumnoning. we killed about 50 of them when they began to overwhelm us. it was our fault because everyone was trying to solo there own instead of ganging up on the ones that were not asleep. at this time we had no provoke and our only nin or /nin job that came had left. needless to say we wiped when rampart was at 47% health. we all had RR up and after the mobs gathered back in the middle we started to raise. while resting the rampart continued to decrease health by 1% every 3 seconds. by the time we got up the rampart had 7% health. we did not dot rampart in any way. we ran after a bee and was warped out mid stride lol.

next we proceded west to the womoura/troll room to try to get some gear. i pulled(ranged) to what i could have swore would not have linked. I mean the troll was right at the door and nothing around. then another troll and a womoura came in with it. we started fighting then salvage ended. Im starting to think those mobs in there are like fomors and form parties.

in reflection one thing i will do differently is bypass the South flan and start on the East flan this will give us more mp users for the N/S.

anyways there is my wednesday log of our event ill try to do this every week.

well not much luck last night... quick question though since we got totally jipped on subjob cells ...after the second floor we ported SE to the third floor and on wiki the map shows the flans in the second room should drop SJ, but none of the flans in the first 2 rooms did... we pulled a couple flans from the large middle room and finally got some SJ cells.. putting us at 4 total

anyways.. my question is, which mobs are best to fight for SJ cells after the second floor?

If you find yourself gipped on subjob cells, take the southern porter on floor 2. The mobs on the next part of floor 3 will drop subjob cells for you.

Since he said he was fighting flans, I can only assume he did take the southern porter. But yea, Flans are the best for SJ cells, and I've definitely gotten some SJ cells from the flans in the first 2 rooms. I think you just got unlucky.
