We kill bifrons and trolls, then flying wamoura, then backtrack for wamoura campa on floor 1 (west).. Floor 2 we clear the 4 flans for more magic then have a thf sac all those mobs away and port up SW.. Then finish off magics on floor 3 SW flans, which also drop stats, weapons and subjobs... By that point almost everyone is fully equipped.. usually if we do have a cell issue its HP or MP. According to how low we are on those we farm the next section of flans which can drop HP, MP and magic.. (maybe some other shit too) Skip the second half of floor 3 and all of floor 4. Taking this route we reach the boss with around 35 minutes left all important cells taken care of with 10-15 people.. (we almost always free lot magic, weapons, subs and ja's by the end)

Just a question for the observant ones:

Has anyone been able to confirm that the Socket is a 50/50 pop on either side? Of the last 6 runs or so I've done here, I've checked, and we're 0/4 on East path, and 2/2 on West path. It got me thinking that maybe it's West path only, and always there.

Anyone personally seen and popped the Socket/Socket NM on the East path?

(I want to do the East path today but I also want to duplicate ability cells)

One MNK tanking and meleeing doing whatever: started @40min remaining, ended with 26min left on the clock. No death till the last 10% when all the melees started zerging it....I died cause I got bound after 2hour-_-

I haven't tried this MNK tanking strategy, but I'm still unclear how MNKs are keeping hate after a Homing Missile gets off. If you consider that by the time LBC is like 25% the BLMs have probably done maybe 20-25% damage each, and then the tank gets a hate reset, how does everyone not just get their asses handed to them? A Counterstance here and a weaponskill there isn't going to do crap when the mages have probably knocked off 25% or so each of the mob's HP. So does this strategy basically hinge on him never being able to use Homing Missile due to positioning and saving TP for Shoulder Tackle? Or are all the mages within range so that they also get hit by HM?

I have to wonder the same thing. My team hasn't been able to completely avoid a Homing Missle to date. We always have 1 solo NIN tank, with another tank off to the side building hate.

How many melees did you have on it? You said the melees were doing "whatever". Does that mean they were attacking? Wasn't TP spam a problem?

Anyways, congrats. 14 minutes is an impressive kill time.

Neither, meleeing and using weaponskills normally pulls hate back pretty quickly.

Also, blm damage is far lower than mnk damage; a good nuke does what, 800? Asuran fists does 500~ and mnk hits every 3 seconds for 50 per hand. Mnk dmg rate is much much better.

We've eaten plenty of HMs using our strategy; he tends to cheese us by turning a fraction of a second before using a WS. Usually we recover with no problem. In the case that we do fully wipe, we just have someone dot-sac it and wait for weakness.

We go with one BLM and he is there for DOTs, stun, and if he gets SJ erase/para/cure. They don't usually nuke till the last 30% but if they decide to nuke they are usually the first one to get smacked down after missile.

You'll be surprise on how well and fast MNK can get hate after a missile. Hate is usually on me after missile and I just run towards the MNK so he can do his thing. We also have a THF placing hate on the MNK every 1min...you're just gonna have to trust in LordWafik's strat and try it yourself.

I guess I'm more suprised that WHMs don't pull hate than BLMs.

That's been our biggest failure to date. Tank gets HMed, LBC makes a beeline for the WHMs.

Actually I did get hate after the first missile but I got hit by the second missile and the BLM ate the floor....I think WHMs that doesn't get a HP cell should stand in line with missile so they lose hate with the MNK, else they don't stand a chance.

Can't the WHM get hit by homing missle and not get hit by the other AoEs also?

Pretty sure this was mentioned earlier in the thread, but I don't keep up.

Actually it does do something. No point theoretically knocking something you haven't tried, considering Cstance is big hate, and so is a MNK WS. After a homing missile, mages shouldn't make life harder for the MNK, if they have hate, stand still and let the mnk grab it off them quickly, then they run off and heal themselves if necessary.

Our last LBC win we had 7 homing missiles in a row, and no deaths. It's not that hard really. It's more of an intimidating thing.

We only have 1 BLM come with us to bhaflau, it's to speed up kills on the way up (esp for flans), and to be more of a supporter for LBC than a nuker. He comes as /WHM sj to paralyna/erase/cure what he can since blm dmg isn't so great on LBC in comparison to our more consistent damage source (monks)

It's true, HM is a wider area than the other moves. It would be possible to position your "high hate" mages such as WHM and BLM that are nuking in range of HM. With stoneskin up they probably won't take more than 300 damage or so.

I'm somewhat interested in how this strategy could work out; it could totally eliminate the need for a backup tank in plans like ours.

I'd really like to know how many melees other groups are putting on LBC. We've been very reluctant to put melees on him in fear of TP spam, but then we end up working him down far too slowly, and the longer we take the more opportunity we have to screw something up.

We use 2 monks, sometimes 3 at the beginning when he's not turning much. More than this causes his TP moves to outpace utsusemi timers.

Our error-free kill time is around 15 minutes I believe. Add 10-15 minutes buffer for a sure kill.

we used to do the 2 seperated tank thing... last week we tried blm/nin and rng/nin kiting for the hell of it. I've gotta say it was quick as fuck and fun to boot. Was dying far faster than I would have expected it to and we did very well...used shadowbind for periods of rest when we needed it and at 31% before tp regen kicked in for a final push (where we used 100 fist, slug > barrage > eagle > icarus > slug, etc)

This monk tank thing is great info though since our group is about to start arrapago and from what i hear, its monk or bust there ;/

Doesn't missile always take you to 1% HP?

EDIT: Our melees were BLU, THF, MNK, DRG(yeahyeah) and the MNK tank. BLU run in and do DOTs/heal melees, THF goes in for TA and SA if possible, MNK just runs in and punch and the DRG does his angon, jumps. We usually have our melee subbing /SAM so they can do something while they wait but somethings they just do get SJ.

I'm not knocking it, I just have a hard time getting how it's so easy to get hate off of approximately 10k-15k of damage with nothing but counterstance (if it's even up), WS, and punches. Especially at low HP when he's giong to be using HM every 20-30 seconds.

I'm even thinking about trying this method once since I'm going to start going with a second smaller group soon, so I do want to understand why it works. But I'm still not seeing how it's so easy to get hate off of 10-15k of damage starting from 0.

Monk hits the hate cap very quickly and stays there.

Also, blms won't do that much damage to LBC in the timeframe. Mnk damage is significantly better.
