only 1 rose, lots of mantas/goobs/saplings/etc
2 chariots are 1 on each side of the floor. can only kill 1.

So there's 7 Lv. 35 pieces in the zone. Say Ares Cuirass is a rare drop from ALL Qiqirn NMs.That leaves 6 pieces.
Sabotender = 1
Soulflayer= 1
Bhoot = 1
Orobon = 1
Rose = 1
Chariot = 1
idk. still so many permutations lol. Really hoping anything else can get a drop discovered soon, as that will narrow it down a lot. especially knowing what the soulflayer drops, or getting a drop from any other QQ in the zone to know how much overlap there is.
How many people is needed to kill princess pudding? We popped it last run, but our first floor only gave us 1 range, 1 melee and 1 magic. Had to zone it.
Assuming you steal a SJ cell from the QQ Astrologer, which someone has claimed is possible, and assuming you get 1 Ability on 1F which you give to a /WAR, you can do it with extremely few people. When I did it, we had a BRD using Mazurka to get hate then kite, and only 1 BLM was the main source of damage. Took a very long time. Honestly though, I wouldn't recommend fighting this NM at all unless you have a Lv. 25 body already.
how do you only have 1 weapon and 1 magic ? o.o
First time we did this, I think 3 or 4 blm's had magic, 1 whm and 1 rdm, maybe more.
We didn't only have 1 magic. We only had 1 blm, lol. And you're saying you got 5 magics on the first floor alone?
yeah, unless we got lucky on the drops...Originally Posted by divisortheory

where does the demonic rose pop again?
Summoned from rampart on 4th floor north path. IIRC that room has 2 ramparts in it, but only one of them summons the demonic rose.Originally Posted by futceez

It also got me to thinking that the first floor is there to be a massive waste of your time.
Has anyone noticed the Qutrubs on floros 2 and 3 having a better drop rate than those on floor 1? I'm just curious here. Because after doing the run today, unless I'm wrong. .
HP: Only attainable on floor 1 (and possibly 2, depending on where you go)
JA/Ability: Obtainable on floor 2 and 3 as well
Magic: Ditto.
Weapons: Ditto.
Considering how much of a royal pain in the ass Qutrubs can be and how shitty their drop rates are, compared to how freaking quickly skeletons die and their noticeably better drop rate, it seems like a *much* better idea to only kill the Qutrubs that are in your way in floor 1 (or hell, even stealth past, depending) kill the Lamia you happen to see in the way, but focus a majority of your efforts on killing skeletons on the first floor, and maybe the second floor, depending.
Given the path that most people take, you're not going to get HP after floor 1 or 2, whereas Soulflayers, who admittedly do have sucky AoEs, can drop magic / abilities (and seem to do so at a better rate than the crap on floor 1).
So I'm considering streamlining floor 1. The only people who really *need* weapons to be effective on the first few floors tomorrow for us are.. the tanks (2) the warrior (1) the thief (1) and maybe the RNG.
Any thoughts there?
Getting kicked out of zone in 30 seconds, and I can say with confidence that what Wafik and Aurik's group exeperienced the other day was definitely a streak of amazing luck. On the first floor we killed:
4 Skeletons
8 Lamia
12 Qutrub
From those mobs we got:
0 Weapons
1 Magic
1 Ability
1 Max MP
3 Head/Neck
I confirmed that stealing from the 2F Qiqirn Astrologer nets a Duplicatus Cell as previously mentioned, and I also confirmed that stealing from the south 3F Qiqirn Treasure Hunter nets a Cumulus (Body) Cell. This was also previously m entioned. So it stands to reason that Steals are fixed and not random, and you are guaranteed a Duplicatus on floor 2 if you use this method. Next time I plan to find out what 3F North Qiqirn Traesure Hunter contains.
We wiped to the large Soulflayer, but it doesn't seem as hard as I thought it would be. In order to kill this thing, you -need-
2 WHMs
1 tank with all 3 of magic, abilities, and subjob unlocked.
HP unlocks for at least 3-4 melee.
We got it to 60% with 1 WHM, 0 tanks, and 0 HP unlocks. Thundaga III did about 750 damage to it with INT cell unlocked and no elemental stave unlock.
In the future I plan to kill no more than 4 Qutrub under any circumstances, and kill as many Lamia as it takes to get 1 ability, since it's the only way to steal from the astrologer.
Edit: I updated all the maps based on what I learned tonight. If anyone has any corrections feel free to let me know. And if anyone can figure out what you can steal from North QQ that would be awesome. I'm willing to bet its Hands, but I can't say for sure. If so that would be quite awesome for giving a TH4 thief.
I linked them rather than inlined them since there's 3 in a row, and the first 2 were posted on a previous page anyway.

We killed it with 7 (0 BLMs) in about 15 minutes, nothing extraordinary either except a RDM is highly suggested for gravity (never resisted once, even mostly naked). PLD kited around with just magic, nothing else. MNKs and me on WAR with a weapon just trailed behind whacking it and WSing. Banish II did like 150 dmg on a couple of occasions. Hits very hard though and it's ga oneshotted our PLD at the end with max HP, be careful.How many people is needed to kill princess pudding?
For people who do this zone with 4 or more MNKs, have you considered sending 2 teams to different wings? Maybe send 1 group to start on NE, and one group to start on SW. Have your teams do nothing but Lamia. 2 MNKs is definitely enough to take these mobs down without too much trouble, this would definitely double your farming potential.
I was considering doing something like that, actually, next run. We only have 3 Monks, but ..7 or so native H2H users overall? Those being: MNK x 3, THF, NIN x 2, WAR.
But when I came to the conclusion that most of the first floor was a waste of time, I just decided that we'd focus on HP on the first floor and if we were really lacking weapons, kill other Qutrub on floor 3. Originally the plan was to have 1 Monk stay with the THF, WAR, and NIN, while the other two Monks and perhaps another NIN head to the SW wing and K.O. the skellies there.
Well, don't forget about ability. Otherwise you have 0 chance of getting a SJ cell until Floor 5. So splitting up will still help you, because you can kill 2x as many ability dropping mobs as if you don't split up. I still agree that most of the first floor is a waste of time, but if you're going to kill 4 Lamia anyway, you might as well kill 8 in the exact same amount of time.
Actually we can get SJs on floor 4. We will try for the abilities, but I'm really not going to sweat it -- we can deal without subjobs until that floor, more or less.
I'll see how our kill speed is this time around. Either way, I'm sending someone who won't be doing much on the floor to two of the porters: Depending on how drops are (i.e. if enough HP) we'll teleport up to a floor with Qutrubs. If we don't, we split go fight more skellies.
restating this to answer your question on stealing.Originally Posted by futceez
oh nice, that makes me think that perhaps Qiqirn Astrologer = Duplicatus, and Qiqirn Treasure Hunter = Cumulus perhaps throughout the entire zone.
Do you ever have more than 1 THF? If so, could you try to steal twice from the same mob?
If anyone attempts the Sabotender anytime soon, can you attempt to steal from it? Non NM Cactuar mobs you can always steal from in normal areas of the game, so it wouldn't surprise me if that carries over here.
