Just had a crazy idea. Bear with me here lol. How much damage would Thundaga III (unbursted) do to a Qutrub? I know they take like double/triple damage from shit.

Would it be realistic to just Thundaga III a whole room of Qutrubs?

They have decent amount of HP to go with their damage multiplier, that and ga-spell damage is lowered with more target.

I think they have around 2,500 HP. Not exact, but seems fairly close based on how much damage we do per hit and how long it takes to kill them. Even if it didn't wipe an entire room, a couple melees could go in there and finish them off in just a few hits.

Never had more than 1 THF but took us so long to kill the 3F QQTH that I used steal twice; first in succession, second in failure.

Don't forget the BLMs won't have armor or staves, and will have that nice -INT. Rough guess on base damage would be maybe 700 with Thundaga III, so 1400 on Qutrubs. But I'm not sure what jobs they're really considered because of the triple attacking and high level ga spells from some. If they have BLM type INT, then probably less, and expect resists as well.

    Similar shitty luck for us.

I wonder if "Armored Chariot" is some sick joke that's taken out quickly by anyone with even a remote inkling of being equipped?

I think I'm starting to see how to do this zone with 18 people.

    First Floor
Divide into two groups of 9, with each group having 3-4 MNK. First group do SW > NW, Second group do NE > SE. Have both groups do all 4 lamia per wing before doing Qutrub. Only get 1 weapon per group, then stop doing Qutrub.

    Second Floor
Although you can only farm 1 room, you can still do 2 enemies at once.

    Third Floor
First group go West/South, Second Group go East/North. Exit through South.

    Fourth Floor
First group do Soulflayers, Second Group do Archaic Gears. Everyone team up for Archaic Ramparts. After Archaic Ramparts, everyone team up for large Soulflayer.

    Fifth Floor
Not sure, never been this high.

I agree: The key is dividing up in a full alliance. Though honestly, I wouldn't go in with anything fewer than 5 Monks and two thieves.

the reason it's not efficient is the lack of cells really. Unless the 18 people agree that only 6 people are getting cells. The mobs on floor 4/5/6 can put up some numbers, which will 1 shot people .

    The zone needs major patching.

The reason you normally have such a high lack of cells is because you don't typically kill every mob in the zone. With this method you would be killing every mob in the zone. The third floor, for example, has an asston of mobs, most of which are normally skipped over. They also have a higher drop rate than 1st floor mobs. Of course you would still give certain drops to people who already had other specific drops rather than dividing them up, but the idea was that this would essentially double the total number of drops you get in the zone, by doubling the number of mobs you kill.

Au contraire, we kill virtually every zone in a particular path. Reviewing my run from a week ago, we killed:
-all lamia, 3/13 qutrub in SW
-all lamia, 9/13 bones in SE
    -100% of mobs on floor2
-all mobs on floor3 south except the QQTH and the soulflayers (we were already freelotting magic/abil at this point)
-all mobs on floor4 except 4 soulflayers (again, no need for their cells)
    -all mobs on floor5
    -timed out on floor6

The only difference complete annhilation would have made is given us a few more waist/head cells (we were pretty much full on both) and more magic that we didn't really need.

If I chose to bring more people on this run, it would have been additional BLMs, WHMs, RDMs, MNKs. No other jobs welcome.

I don't doubt that's the most effective way actually. Assuming a full turnout this Saturday, I plan to try this with 8 MNKs.

How exactly do you guys kill the QQTH and QQA? It runs away so often and can regen back if no1 touches it and DoTs wear. We tried with 6 yesterday and the QQA (2F) ran away into one of the rooms we cant access. The 3rd floor one run so much and the path was so long it just ended up regening back everything.

Do you guys try to kill it quickly before it runs? Or maybe prevent regen with DoT?

For the 3F you can position a few people who can DoT along the path. That way you can make sure DoT is always on. For 2F, you just need a ton of damage, really fast.
