I haven't played much recently due to RL stuff. But I'm glad to see that the foundation of info I helped lay down has been built upon in my absence.

Has there been any confirmed (ie screenshot confirmed) drops of L35 gear from any of the suspected reinforcement mobs (Sabotender Maestro, Oboron, Demonic Rose)? If they do indeed drop gear, isn't it a little strange that none of them have been confirmed so far?

It's nto that strange. Almost nobody ever kills the Sabotender for one thing. And the Orobon and Rose were just recently theorized, and since not many people do this zone it hasn't been killed enough. Most people spend so much time on 1-4 that they never even get to 5. Personally my money is on Orobon + Demonic Rose = Marduk, and Sabotender = Skadi.

[pointless]Okay, now I came to the conclusion that this area's Lv.35 "dropping theme" is normally named monsters: Qiqirn TH x3?, Qiqirn Astro x2?, Deviate Bhoot, Psycheflayer, Orobon, Demonic Rose, Archaic Chariot. And the cactuar is similar to the S/W 3F Madame in Zhayolm and probably some Qiqirn here.[/pointless]

There's lots of monsters with normal names in the zone though. All the Lamia and Merrow are normal names. As far as summons go, Nippers, Devil Mantas, Demonic Pugils, Mourioche, Korrigans are normal. Sabotender Maestro is unique but follows the Cactuar naming convention. Other unique named summons are Migrant Russula, Goobbue Wanderer, Seasonal Treant, and Staggering Sapling.

If I actually had to guess it seems like the Sabotender and the Demonic Rose would be the armor dropping NMs. I'm just basing that on the fact that the ramparts that summon them only summon them, and usually waste little time doing so. The rampart that can summon an Orobon also summons Demonic Pugils, and my group has killed that rampart before with it not summoning an Orobon.

What I meant was normally-named NMs. I also don't mean normal as in "we've seen it before". Rather, I mean they have a name that would make you think "Where are the NMs!?" just by looking at the .dats. Silver Sea/Bhaflau NMs have obvious NM names. You could say the cactuar has a normal cactuar name, though. I'm pretty sure cactuar NMs have the same naming system as normal cactuars.

Well all Orobons in the game are NMs I believe. Which is why people suspected it of dropping lvl35 armor just from the dats.

And yes most Sabotender NMs share a similar naming convention. They all have a second word in their name which is Spanish (I think), e.g. Sabotender Mariachi, Sabotender Enamorado, Sabotender Amante, Sabotender Campeon , Cactuar Cantautor. The word also seems to share a theme of music/dancing/love. But regular monster Sabotenders also can have those kinds of names like Sabotender Bailaor and Sabotender Sediendo.

At any rate, the difficulty of the Sabotender Maestro alone would make you think that it should drop a lvl35 piece. Even with Arrapago drop rates, I couldn't think of a group that would willing farm it just for cells.

I think people overestimate the difficulty of the Sabotender. With 1 BLM, 4 MNKs, and maybe 1-2 abilities, it's really somewhat of a pushover.

I've fought the thing 3 times and wiped twice. Keep in mind the first time we fought it we had no f-ing clue what was coming. I think Sykes posting it on the first page of this thread was the first instance of people popping it.

    Yay picture
    http://www.tarupanic.com/sykes/misc/...dermaestro.jpg
I think NIN, WHM, RDM only had magic, RDM died after it popped trying to sleep it. WHM died from resting aggro from it. I tanked it as long as I could but with no curing and little damage on it, we wiped eventually.

2nd attempt a lot of people managed to die from back to back Roller Chains from the rampart itself and we got hosed on magic cells and had like 1 maybe 2.

Barely beat it on our third try, but it still involved some dying and a chunk of time just to get some STR, AGI, and CHR cells. Getting 4 MNKs for our group would be 2 more than we usually can muster. And BLMs often don't get magic on the first floor for our group. We could just give them higher priority if we were planning to kill the Sabotender I suppose since it doesn't have too much HP. But the fact that it hits like a ton of bricks is undeniable.

Well being a THF I couldn't really see much of what was going on when we fought it. I just know we had 1 death, but other than that I don't even think any red HPs. We gave all the HP cells to melee related people, and the mages got way out of range. We had probably 2 abilities, maybe 3 magic (I know 1 blm had magic, he was the one that died lol). If I had to guess, I'd say BRD and RDM had the other 2 magic. BRD was doing minuets and RDM was just curing. We had 0 weapons.

From looking at your experience, I'm guessing things would have gone MUCH more smoothly if your only sources of healing hadn't wiped early on.

I was able to confirm (at least to myself, other people may need more verification) that the rampart pops after clearing exactly 50% of the mobs on floor 1. So I would probably recommend doing all the lamia on the west side, and clearing the east side.

Sorry if this was mentioed earlier, but for you guys that have actually been farming this zone for lvl35 pieces, how much HP do you think the QQ NMs have? The group I'm with typically goes with around 6 or 7 and I'm wondering how difficult it might be to actually kill 1 or a number of the NMs with just 6.

How many do you usually bring?
How many people have magic and abilities by each NM?
How do you deal with the running/warping on the QQs?

    Thanks!

4F Qiqirn Treasure Hunter will be easiest for you. 2F Astrologer will be difficult unless you have one or two Hundred Fists. Not because you won't survive, but because it will warp too quickly. The 4F Treasuer Hunter is fairly squishy and 1 mage is more than enough to keep up with the healing. Furthermore it's pathing is very short, so you don't have to worry about it like you do with the 3F Treasure Hunter who runs halfway across the zone. 3F Treasure Hunter will also be difficult because you'll have to clear the entire 3rd floor, which may be time consuming with only 6 people. On top of that, you'll probably waste a ton of time DoTing the Qiqirn to death.

Thanks, great info. Also it seems the drop rate is horrid... I've only see a Macha's Crown and a Deimos Body out of like 3-4 groups that post their results on this board... Drop rate seems maybe 10% or worse?

    I don't think it's worse than 10%. I think somewhere in the 10-15 ballpark.

I don't see how you can still be that optimistic. We've done 2 arrapaga since my last post and gone another 0 for 10 on drops putting us at around 1 for 30-35 on mobs people expect to drop 35 AF [ assuming all Qiqirn can drop something ]. We run with 2 THF in our group of 8-9 people so aren't lacking TH either. I still say drop rate is around 5% at best.

You're not considering what other people have done though. Me, for example, I've killed a total of 2 Astrolgers, 2 Treasure Hunters, and 1 Psycheflayer (not counting Sabotender since he may drop nothing) and we've gotten 1 Morrigan Head to show for it. Also I've been watching the JP forums, and the group that first reported Ares Mask from the Deviate Bhoot did not have a ton of kills under their belt either. If the drop rate is 5% (1 out of 20), then it won't be terribly uncommon for individual groups to go 0/40, but I've NEVER heard of that happening. You take the lucky people and the unlucky people and the true drop rate is somewhere in the middle. 1/20 is just stretching it IMO, that seems like the extreme case. 1/10 seems more like a middle ground.

How many kills have people on this board gotten is my point. There are more than just our 2 groups doing arrapago and we are the only ones to have any drops to show for it. If it was a relatively higher drop rate someone else would have reported a drop other than just the two of us. How many kills have been reported by Aurik's group, Sykes' group, etc. I wouldn't be suprised if we are exceeding 60-80 kills among people who post on this board yet we've seen a grand total of 2 drops.

We were late compared to most shells to start arrapago, we didn't do our first run here until after 9 Bhaf Boss kills sort of forced us to come here, but have done 3 salvage a week here since then until Nyzul came out and slowed us down. There has to be other shells posting here with a fairly significant volume of kills as well.

The fact that Bhaflau is arguably the easiest zone to complete and drops all the matching 25 gear, it seriously would not suprise me for SE to give the 35 gear here a 5% drop rate to ensure the rarity of salvage armor.

I would also suggest that if the possible theory on all Astrologers dropping Deimos Cuirass and all Treasure Hunters dropping Macha's Robe ends up being true then the drop rate might be even lower offsetting the greater number of chances to kill those types of mobs per run. The majority of our kills have been concentrated on Qiqirns since we don't really care about the head pieces so we aim the 4 Qiqirns, Archaic Chariot and Sabotender which never pops for us.

Well I guess time will tell. I'd be curious to hear from Sykes' and Aurik's group to see if they can estimate the total number of Qiqirn, Sabotenders, and 4F NMs they've killed

    0/3 1F Sabotender
    0/3 2F Astrologer
    0/3 3F N QQTH, 0/1 3F S QQTH
    0/2 4F N Deviat Bhoot, 0/2 4F S Psychflayer, 0/4 4F N QQTH, 0/1 4F S QQTH

    I think we're about:
    0/4 on 2nd floor QQ
    0/5 on 4th floor QQ
    0/1 on 4th floor Soulflayer
    0/2 on 4th floor Malboro
    0/1 on 5th floor Orobon
    0/1 on 5th floor Chariot
    0/1 on 5th floor Astrologer
