There numbers are going to be rough from me because they're just from memory
    0/1 1F Sabotender
    0/6 2F Astrologer
    0/4 3F N QQTH, 0/2 3F S QQTH
    0/1 4F S Psychflayer, 0/4 4F N QQTH, 0/2 4F S QQTH

Sykes might actually have the runs logged still and would have better numbers. And they sometimes have done small runs of people at like 1AM when I've been asleep, so the numbers might even be higher then as well.

I have the runs logged, but my data wouldn't contribute much except a few more 0's ... or rather the same number of 0's but larger denominators.

My money is on 5% drop for all the Lv. 35 pieces in Arrapago. Maybe 10%, but I'm going to go with the pessimistic figure for now.

That's fucking lame. I hope that for the sake of sanity the Arrapago boss is retardedly easy by comparison..

Wait. So the 1-item drop isn't just a rumor anymore? Wow. Just... wow. I think this confirms the notion that Arrapago is SE's giant "fuck you" to us.

Why must everything horrible in this expansion be Undead Swarm-related? Only thing they have for them that I can think of at the top of my head is Khimaira.

EDIT: I'm praying that it's unintended.

Anyway, how much armour has not been 100% confirmed (including the robe) and how much Qiqirn (by floors and including 3F/4F) have been 100% confirmed on what they drop? If it's 4 for each, maybe that's something to think about. (Not sure if I said this already. >_>)

My group tried Arrapago today (most first time) going for the lvl35 drops. We had only 1 MNK and felt incredibly helpless the entire time. I had read that MNKs were a big deal on this but didn't realize just how big a deal. Had we brought 0 MNKs, I think we wouldnt have made it out of the first floor.

Anyways I have a couple questions. Our situation is we have a maximum of 8 members on any given salvage run - the vast majority will be in the 6 or 7 range. Typically we want to do bosses if we can get 7 or 8 so ideally we want to do arrapago with 6 (if that's even possible). We can get a max of 2 MNKs right now.

    1) Can 2 MNKs with 2hr kill the 2F Astrologer before warping? If we can't do this NM with 2 MNKs I'm not sure how we can farm the Ares body...

    2) The Flayers gave us a ton of trouble, espeically with magic shield. Is there a way to get rid of this or can it come down after X amount of time? Also RDM dispel doesn't work on this but I assume BRD's does?

    3) Equipment was extremely rare so would you just give it all to the MNKs? Is there any other DD that works semi-well outside of MNK or PUP? I really don't think we can count on more than 1 weapon cell dropping...

    4) Would you bother using the socket NM to dupe any cell in particular?

    5) For the 2 head piece NMs, do these give you guys a lot of trouble? More difficult than the normal ones?

We tried to 4F QQTH like Divisortheory recommended and it was pretty much the only NM we felt like we had any real shot at killing. It runs on a very small route and basically never stops. We noticed it just runs on the path hitting anything that happens to be in range while spamming mines. The HP on this NM we think is around 7000 HP (chi blast for 140 got it to 97% on the pull). We probably could have DoT killed this NM if we had stayed out of the path.

I guess I'm a bit shocked right now as to how much harder this zone was compared to everything else we've been doing. We're stuck with about 10 sets at 2/3 right now and everyone is itching to complete something. We don't think recruiting MNKs is a really viable option right now and I don't think we're ever going to go beyond 8 members at this point.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

To my knowledge, the magic shield stays regardless.

The funny thing about Arrapago is that from what I've read here and been told, the first few floors are basically a giant waste of time -- the equipment cells that drop in abundance, sans rings/earrings (which can be found on the first floor) basically drop in huge abundance on the 6th floor, right before the boss.

    4) Would you bother using the socket NM to dupe any cell in particular?
On our first Arrapago run, it was suggested by Icon (who's been on just about all our Salvage runs) that you try to dupe a magic cell or two from the socket. We could get the Soulflayer down a . . decent amount with enough Monks, the sad part is, as Aurik's pointed out, the thing hits like a freaking truck -- you may have to risk burning Monk two hours on it just to get it down, which admittedly, could nab you most of the magic cells you need by floor 2, but eh.

We don't think recruiting MNKs is a really viable option right now and I don't think we're ever going to go beyond 8 members at this point.
I can sympathize with you. I truly prefer doing things with as small a group as possible, but after some advice from other leaders within the LS, I've forced myself to up the amount of people I bring to me for Salvage (which means more mouths to feed, sometimes) -- I think with a solid group of 10, you might be able to snag it.

I'm sorry I couldn't offer more concrete answers, but hopefully that one is prompt enough.

Thanks for the reply. Anything is helpful at this point. We're not going for wins in Arrapago right now, just doing the lvl35 NMs, so things don't have to go super perfect. I guess the overall goal for us is to be able to something like Ares body, Morri body, and 1 head piece NM with 6 members.

At this point the biggest concern is the 2F NM as it warps. The 4F QQ I think we should be ok on because it won't run that far so it's not hard to just DoT to deaht worse cast. The Cactaur on 1F and the chariot on 5F I really have no clue how we would do that with 6 though. Luckily the biggest drops - the 2 bodies, seem within reach.

As far as the #s thing, I still really hope to maintain what we use right now. I think giving in on this may be a bit premature on this. Right now, we've already gotten Bhaflau boss wins to 7 very consistantly and pretty sure Silver Seas with 7 soon as well. People are already starting to do Zham pretty quickly too. The salvage drop rate are really really poor and I just don't think there are enough lvl35 drops to support that many members.

Yes. Two Hundred Fists mixed with Asuran will do him in. However, they must anticipate his movement and have mages ready to cure the MNKs in the event of Sleepga. The best thing that can happen is the Astrologer casts some AM or elemental -ga, because then you'll have a big chunk of time to wail on him.

Of course, it doesn't hurt for any unlocked BLMs and RDMs to throw nukes.

    Typo. Meant to say Skele.

In regards to farming bodies, I've been doing that as well. The 2nd floor Astra is kind of gay, in yesterdays run it spammed stupid spells and ran alot. From what I hear the socket nm is really hard and at a point where people don't have alot of cells, so not really worth it. It would probably be best if you guys avoided the 3rd floor TH because it's a huge chunk of time clearing the north or south side. The north 5th floor rampart NM (Malboro) wasn't too hard, it just had alot of HP.

And my overall assessment of the zone is getting weapons to drop is gay. Going north on 3rd floor we easily get everyone magic/abilities it's the weapons that never drop and only head/neck from quitrub.

Also you do bhaf boss with 7? >.> Pm me what strat you use. <.<

I can just post it here since it's really pre-written already.

    http://kanican.livejournal.com/8169.html

    Typical setup: NIN/WAR BLM BLM BLM RDM/WHM XXX/WHM XXX/WHM

Where the XXX is a melee - second NIN, WAR, THF, MNK etc.

The boss only requires the first 6; in the LJ we actually fight it with 6 b/c the 7th member was a dual box just needed to speed up first floors.

Actual boss strat consists of a pure kite tug of war with hate with NIN and 3 BLMs. Takes about 25-30 minutes to kill usually but we get to boss with average 45-50 minutes left. The XXX/WHM just help cure and -na spell. Stream and Discharge are very easy to dodge on this. Missiles takes some practice and/or luck. We'll get hit with a couple of these but nothing you can't recover from. Pretty much all the BLMs have Gaiters; in conjunction with the kiting strats I have on the LJ it's really effective. We've done the boss 7 times with this strategy - 6 times with 7, 1 time with 8.

It's really just a slightly modified method from what BtL does. I think they tend to balance with some RNG in conjunction with BLM. They also take a PLD I think which helps pull off an initial gank to speed up the fight. Kiting + lowish members is definately safer and more consistant than the normal sized groups.

    *******************************************

The 2F QQA looks doable with double MNK it sounds like. It runs before it warps though? I was under the impression it just runs away then warps off, so you're pretty much out of luck the instant it runs. You get multiple shots at it before it warps?

The 2nd floor Astrologer will actually run in 3 or 4 sequences where he runs a short distance, then casts a spell or attempts to use a TP move on someone. You actually get a fairly decent amount of time and as long as you have a few people with weaponskills its quite easy to take him down. I would say you get around 45 seconds at least to kill him, maybe its closer to 60, and we've only failed to kill him once in 8 attempts with 7 or 8 members never using SPs on him.

I would like to echo the other peoples' sentiments. You really should find 1 or 2 more people. It's imperative that you can kill Psycheflayers, as they are probably the most efficient mobs in the zone for increasing player usefulness, since they have very high drop rate on both ability and magic cells. My reccomendation is this:

    1) Do not fight a single Qutrub on the first floor.
    2) On 1F split into two groups, where each group has 2 MNK. Take the first group to NW, and take the second group to NE with Sneak + Invis.
    3) NW group use Sneak+Invis past all Qutrub, and kill only the 4 Lamia. When they are dead Sneak+Invis to the SW portion of the map and repeat.
    4) NE group kill everything, including Skeletons (Ignore Gespenst).
5), After NW and SW Lamia have been cleared, and after NE wing minus Gespenst has been cleared, everyone gather in SE wing and clear it.
    6) Archaic Rampart should be up. If you have 4 MNKs you can kill the Sabotender without too much trouble, especially if you have some BLMs burst Thunder on it.
    7) Port up, kill skeletons to get more HP cells, then kill the 2 lamia, then go after the QQA.
    8) Port up, go west and skip the Qutrub. Kill the 2 Psycheflayer in the first room and port up from the South.
    9) Kill gears for SJ cells, then kill the QQTH for a chance at Morrigan Body.

At this point it's up to you to decide what to do. You can go after the large Psycheflayer, although if the small ones are giving you trouble you probably won't get anywhere close to killing it. Or you can port up and go after the Chariot which drops Lv. 35 Usukane Legs.

Arrapago isn't really bad once you get used to the layout and start making your runs more efficient. however, I really feel that 4 MNKs are necessary.

You really don't need 4 MNKs at all for this if you're only goal is to farm the 35 NMs. It sure can make it easy but the mobs just aren't that hard to kill on the first floor that other native H2H users can't get the job done. We run with 2 MNKs ideally, but on a few of our runs we had only 1 able to make it. The setup we've used the last 8 or 9 runs is 1-2 MNK, 2 WAR ( both capped H2H ), 2 THF ( both capped H2H ), 1 SAM, RDM+WHM. We also had a BRD 2boxed recently for our last few runs.

That setup can all eat meat on the first floor, with the WARs hitting for 50-60 a punch on Qutrubs. There really isn't a need to rush up on the first floor, we kill the entire NW wing and the entire SE wing and can warp up at around the 35 minute mark every time give or take a few minutes. We want to get at least 1 weapon for the SAM, anything more is bonus but not required to get the job done on upper levels. Every single run, save the one I tried to play with the BLM Qutrubs ( HUGE MISTAKE ), we've had plenty of time to kill 2nd floor Qiqirn Astrologer, 3rd+4th floor Qiqirn Treasure Hunter, Giant Soulflayer, 5th floor Qiqirn Astrologer. We recently added the Archaic Chariot to the path, and we just save our 2 hours for him and he's been cake as well.

There is plenty of time in this zone so no need to avoid farming the weapons on first floor. Stating an obsolute requirement of 4 MNKs to do anything in this zone is just ridiculous and totally unnecessary especially since WAR, RNG, SAM, etc once they get a weapon are stronger than MNKs without a weapon so the team becomes even more efficient killing on the upper floors.

The only real requirement to this zone is you need at least 1 MNK and 2-3 other native H2H ( WAR, NIN, THF ), a heavy manaburn setup really will struggle to start here. Also for the Psycheflayers, dont use your TP on them early, save the TP for the last 25%. It never uses it's AoE Bio move until near death and we can kill him instantly from 25% and avoid having to deal with massive erases. We haven't had one go off in a while since someone noticed that.

I think they'd be more put off by going in for a first, second, or third time with 1-2 MNKs and getting owned than they would be by the intimidation of thinking they have to find 4 MNKs, which really isn't even that hard. If you've done the zone a bunch and are really used to it, you might be able to get away with fewer, but IMO making people go in and think they'll be ok with 1 or 2 MNKs when they have no experience with the zone is worse than telling people they need to overprepare.

The reason a lot of people were turned off to Salvage in the first place is because they went in not knowing what to expect and their run ended in less than 10 minutes. That's what's gonna happen to a lot of first timers in Arrapago if they go in with 1 MNK and don't know what to expect.
