I agree with that much that going in with less will be a kick in the balls the first few times, but there are very few groups that can come up with 4 MNKs. It's best to at least make it known that this zone can be done without an ideal setup but just like small manning Bhaf Boss takes a few times to get the hang of it, this retarded zone has a steep learning curve as well.

The other group my LS runs recently started doing this zone as well, and they got their ass kicked the first times out since they can only muster 1-2 MNKs as well. On their 4th run yesterday they finally got the hang of it and killed a few Qiqirn NMs as well as Orobon, no drops of course. The stupidly low droprates of 35 armor I think will scare more people away from this zone than the low drop rates on Qutrubs. =(

I think Lhexh does bring up a good point: In making sure that if you cannot bring more Monks, at least have a good size of native H2H users. We typically have, on our smaller runs:

    1 WAR/NIN
    2-3 MNKs
    1 THF
    1 NIN

The WARs H2H is only slightly below cap. Mine is capped on THF, with 5 H2H merits from being a MNK. I'm able to pop attack food and hit the Qutrubs with no apparent difficulty. The Qutrubs in the NW wing are honestly much less troublesome than the BLM Qutrubs without a doubt.

If we get one weapon, we typically gave it to the WAR, since multi attacking weapons like Ridill/Joyeuse have quite a distinct advantage in zones like this. In the future, we'll probably give it to me for lolplacebohunter knife.

I'm looking forward to tackling this zone again soon. The Psycheflayers are *definitely* more efficient in this zone.

    The zone sucks, nuff said.

The main reason you want to take primarily monks and very few incus-needing jobs is not the first floor, but rather floors beyond where having useful damage dealers helps a lot. with 3-4 monks and 1-2 "other" jobs, you only ever need to farm 1-2 incus, and let your monks barehand the whole entire time.

If you want to kill qutrub, kill the DRK ones in northeast (floor1/2) or any qutrub on floor 3 (they're all DRK there). BLMs are not impossibly hard, but put up spikes and cast gay spells like bio, etc. Personally I like starting in SW (avoiding qutrubs), then SE, then porting up in SE, and hope to get incus on floor 3 for 1-2 people. You could also do SW, SE, and port up in NW, hoping to get incus off the 6 qutrub in that wing of floor2.

2F astrologer is really not hard. He follows this pattern: cast spell, run to stairs, cast spell, run to porter, cast spell, run back to stairs, cast spell, run to spawn point, warp. Plenty of time to kill him, especially if he casts things like AM. He can be lullaby'd, but bind/stun/sleep are all resisted.

We landed bind on Astra yesterday, and have had 0 luck in 2 runs of landing lullaby on him.

So I guess some guidelines here...

    1) Avoid the BLM Qutrub if you're going for weapons - the ones on NW wing 1F and 3F are DRK and easier.

    2) For the QQA 2F just make sure 3-4 Melee have Abilities and TP stored. Throw 2 Hundred Fists + WSs and it should die before warping.

    3) Flayers on 3F are the best way to get any magic/abilities missing. Only uses the Bio move at low HP so store TP and gank at low HP.

    4) Doing the QQTH on 3F requires you to clear the floor first.

I think we can probably get 7 tonight and try again. I'm thinking of going with something like NIN MNKx2 THF RDM BLM WHM with the hopes of killing QQA 2F, QQTH 4F, and Flayer 4F.

You don't have to clear the whole 3rd floor for the TH. It just runs from it's spawn point to lvl start and back. But it's a TON of mobs to clear and takes a while. Like, if you go north kill the north half mobs, south the south half etc.

Also anyone know what the pathing is on the 5th and 6th QQs? I've never seen the 4th go into any agro rooms and looks super easy to farm w/o having to kill stuff (although we kill gears anyway).

Nobody's ever popped 5th and 6th floor QQs to my knowledge (well maybe they have the 5th, but I'm pretty sure not the 6th).

Fifth floor is an astrologer who will start in the large room where he spawns then run down the stairs and attempt to warp like the 2nd floor astrologer will. I have never seen any Qiqirin Treasure Hunters on the 6th floor at all and I've cleared the entire floor, and let all 4 Ramparts on that floor summon mobs. Not really sure what the trigger is for those 2 Treasure Hunters in the .dat files.

Edit: Opening the door to reach the 6th floor is what pops the Archaic Chariot and the Astrologer.

i've killed the astro on the 5th floor. that run, we cleared the entire 5th floor and had 10? minutes left for the 6th. had we been boss-focussed we probably would have gotten to him.

So lemme see if I got this straight, you have to clear all of 5floor to so you wont get agro chasing it? I havn't seen the mob placement for that lvl yet.

Astrologer pops in the room in H-7, H-9 depending on north/south path and its empty. Really only need to clear the room with gears to the south or north of it, I think it was 4 or 5 gears total while someone MGS to the door to pop Astrologer + Chariot.

lhexh has the idea, you don't need to clear the floor at all. we just did, because our primary target was the 4th and 5th floor NMs, and we completed with a long time remaining.

What drop rate are people seeing on the 35 gear?

1/5 on body? 1/10? any rough numbers, I know it won't be exact cause the sample pool is too small, but maybe people could just post how they've done so far on these.

See above, other people have posted theirs already.

A guy in my LS theorized that killing the Sabotender increases the drop rate. I think it's BS personally, but we're 1/1 on the Morrigan 35 Head after killing the Sabotender lol. We'll probably try it again just because the Sabotender was really easy and I'm 2/3 on Skadi Feet, with the 35 possibly dropping from Sabotender . if we go 1/1 again I'll make sure to post, lol.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last 2 drops have been uncovered in Arrapago. Well, if we believe Aircommand anyway. Supposedly Marduk Hands, Skadi Feet, and Usukane Legs ALL come from the Archaic Chariot. This means the Sabotender, Orobon, and Demonic Rose drop NOTHING.

I'm going to start spamming the archaic chariot now since I'm 2/3 on Skadi Feet.

That is freaking nuts and something I want to try tomorrow. I'm going to skip 4th floor farming (just killing the TH) and wipe out the 5th floor to try that.

I doubt it's true since thus far as a rule nothing drops more than 2 things in Salvage except bosses, but my group will also be killing it for the Usukane legs since we have several pieces 2/3 so maybe we'll find out. Not particularly interested in the Rose or Orobon but I'll stick to trying the Sabotender since it's easy to get to. Even if it was the Marduk hands I'd be pleased if I could confirm it had something.

Yeah, I'm 2/3 on those boots too.
