That's only 6 SJ cells. Probably works good for your group with 7 people, but I go with a minimum of 12 usually. I'd want at least 8 probably, especially for the BLMs and the MNKs, and probably for a RDM as well.

Our last run he bolted straight for the teleporter, and actually got up to it after maybe 10 or so seconds(which was a bitch for our mnks to run around to the ramp). He then ran off the teleporter, and back toward the stairs which were his starting point. Warped out at 6%, but it makes me think that it's a time requirement for him to warp out, and not a location requirement.Originally Posted by Sady

Well I know there's only 4 single gears up there anyway. So even if you got double SJ drops from every single Gear on the floor I'd still be cutting it close. Also, due to the way those Duplicatus Cells are spread out in the treasure pool, that looks like it was from all the single gears on the floor, so the other treasure pools wouldn't have contained any Duplicatus (from 6th floor anyway). Triple gears don't drop SJ cell, only ranged and body.
There's no way you need or even want 12 people in this zone. Have fun with that.Originally Posted by divisortheory
Anyway, with a more realistic group, the 6th floor should be plenty as far as feet/body/sj cells go. The screenshot above was only a portion of floor 6. This neglects the fact you can and should steal SJ off the 2 QQA on the way up. There should be no problem farming all the SJ you need on floor 6, and neglect all farming on floors 4 and 5.
The choke point is going to be getting magic, HP, and weapons, but then you should not need more than 3~ weapons nor more than 4~ HP.
I'll double-check my SS tonight, I think we may have gotten SJ off of triples.Originally Posted by divisortheory

Though I think in the case of 12 people in the zone, he might be in the same boat as me: Trying to be inclusive of people and not ass them out of participation.
... Though we've had our talk on that and saw where that went, so.
I"m not opposed to bringing 12 people, so long as everyone past person 8 is a MNK who is going to be used for farming lvl1 and 2, then gtfo.
It's not as bad as it sounds. So far I don't think I've ever entered a Salvage zone with less than 10 people, and it's always worked out fine.Originally Posted by aurik
I know I don't need 12 people, but my group is large. I can't just tell people to sit at home today, they aren't welcome. We got to the 6th floor with 12 people with basically everyone fully decked out and 15 minutes to spare on the clock, after killing all Lv. 35 NMs in the zone except for the 3rd floor ones. I think that speaks for itself in terms of how you can make it work.
Just like your group has the easiest time killing LBC by straight tanking with a MNK, others including mine have an easier time kiting and using RNG and BLM. There's more than one way to skin a cat, large groups are not a problem for us. Last run was THF THF MNK MNK MNK MNK MNK BRD RDM RDM WHM BLM. Even if we had added 2 more BLM, it would have been a breeze and we actually would have gotten to the top floor even faster. All it would have taken is killing 2-3 Deviate Bhoots (we killed 0) for magic, then we would have downed the chariot in about 5 minutes instead of 15. Not to mention that we cleared the entire 5th floor, with 2 more BLM bursting the Distortion chains we were making, gears would have been dying faster than merit mobs.
I have no idea how you spent 15 minutes on the 5f chariot, our last kill, with 6 and a double-weakened thf out of melee range, took about 6.
Well aparently my memory was wrong. I just reviewed my parse, engaged at 2007-04-07 23:17:55.610, killed at 2007-04-07 23:22:47.687
The first time was slow though because we engaged hastily and had 2 deaths during the fight (including our primary healer) so we had to try to hold it without giving it TP for a while while he rested.
That's more like it, lol. I just couldn't imagine taking that long unless you're seriously just dotting it to death.
Anyway, my experience with less is more: more melee on gears = more TP spam AND more people in range = more MP blown on healing. You don't kill them appreciably faster, not nearly fast enough to justify the extra farming time to obtain the cells necessary for both the melee and support to sustain the melee.
Got another pair of Freya's Ledelsens (exact same drops as the picture I posted last time), but we gotta get the 25 pair from LBC before we can make this second pair of boots. No luck with the other NMs though.
2/2 on that Chariot, we're probably hated.
Guess this is good news as the Chariot drop rate looks actually reasonable, unlike the QQ NMs. Our group got Morri Head off Flayer today as well; we're 1/3 on it. I think the QQs have a lower drop rate than the other NMs in the zone possibly.
Yeah, makes sense; we only have 2-3 melee ourselves, plus the BRD running back and forth - when I go and need to resing songs (which invariably happens), I wait for it to use a TP move and then run in to resing one, then move back for a ballad, then back in, etc. Besides that, we are all just sure to keep out of its range. Works pretty well. Last night too, we had four people with curing/na capabilities so were right on top of paralynas etc.Originally Posted by aurik

A quick question but, aside from getting lucky with lots of HP and/or magic cells, how does your group deal with the Soulflayer's Bioga move (sorry I forgot to take down the name)? Does remedy or some other form of buyable medicine remove the status? That shit is nasty, I couldn't even take hipots out of my bazaar fast enough.![]()
I finally just decided that anyone without HP unlocked wasn't gonna get close to it. less people to erase that way, and also the people who did need erase would have max hp unlocked.Originally Posted by Sady
in any case, i also just don't go that route anymore, so we never fight psycheflayers anymore. the deviate bhoots are way easier.
Vicar's Drinks and I believe Remedies (not sure, haven't seen) will remove the bio, as will an AoE Cleric's Drink from the chests. Anytime we get to flayers we have someone with Erase usually, either RDM/WHM with SJ unlocked or WHM; people outside party just get cured until it wears. Of course you also have to make sure people are paying attention; people saying 'Bio' and the WHM casting Blindna and RDM Hasting herself first isn't usually a good sign. ;P
Thanks for the input. I'll try and remember to test Remedies in ballista or something in the near future.
I'm almost positive remedies don't remove bio.
