Our tank was a NIN/DRK with HP unlocked.

With counterstance, the NM's Ecto goes over 1300dmg.
Do people usually tank this with Earth Staff?
No, elegy + no counterstance + shadows + hp unlocked.Originally Posted by divisortheory
Ya I don't think Earth Staff is needed. We got him to 10% totally not knowing what to expect. Had he not gotten that Ectosmash on our Ninja I think we'd have been fine. We had about 4 people beating on him which probably wasn't helping the TP situation too much.
He does have a whole lot of HP, and you do need to be prepared to stun his -ga III spells.
Is Ectosmash absorbable? Wiki doesn't say,a nd I've personally never been hit with it. I know it's single target, but dunno if it ignores shadows or not.Originally Posted by aurik
Stupid question, but Tomahawk works against Bhoots right? Might help to speed up the damage, since they have fucking insane resistance against blunt.
According to our Ninja that was killed, it is blinkable, and he his shadows were down when he got hit by it.
It wasn't the first time in the fight it was it used, so I'm pretty sure he is correct.
It's blinkable. Normal ghosts use it. The NM just has massive base damage, and can easily hit for 300 on normal attacks.
Also, banish2 removes the pesky damage resistance on ghosts for a period of time.
Can the NM bhoot be silenced? Got a double Ares head 25 drop today in bhaflau, so are gonna have to go after this thing pretty soon...
I think Bhoots in general can't be silenced.
Did Arrapago today, almost got fucked on magic cells and washed out on 1st floorWe were a bit complacent and made mistakes too. But we overcame.

It certainly does take talent to not outlot a 67...
We just had the most retarded Arrapago run ever. *NO* magic dropped for us, and we eventually ran out of hipots. /sigh.
Did you sneak and snipe for lamias? If so which ones?Originally Posted by Bleu
BRD SAM BLM SMN all drop magic/mp with a decent chance. There's plenty <_<
We cleared the first room of Qutrubs and got a weapon for our THF. We did the BLM in the next room first, and that ate up a lot of pots. After that we ran around sniping all the SMN Lamia and they dropped MP only, no magic. At that point we pretty much had to use flies.
We've done this zone quite a few times, we've just never gotten screwed that bad on magic cells. We burned about 40 hipots before calling it.
We were going with a much smaller group than usual (read 6), which I was really hoping to see work, and I'm sure it would have if even 1 magic dropped.
We take a route that hits 4 magic-dropper lamias first, and we've come close to being screwed a few times. Doing the blm lamia before dispel is painful.
We probably bring closer (or maybe over depending on runs) to 100 hi pots, depends how our inventory is looking. With Silver Seas and Arrapago you can't count on getting certain cells are certain points and going unprepared in the healing department is probably the worst thing you could do to your run. Also bad is not having RR, especially if you're out of pots and it's the one person who can raise that's dead.
When we go with 9 people, this is our approximate med load:
40-60 hi-potion
10-20 hi-ether
Everyone a partial stack of antidotes, prism, silent, holy water. Monks bring eye drops.
1-2 reraise meds each
Monks bring at least 1 persikos each
The Deviate Bhoots are really gay.... chainspell on all the time, so whenever it casts AM and -ga3 someone dies...
