I brought it up because you said "resist gear is fucking worthless", implying ALL RESIST GEAR is fucking worthless. I gave you an explicit counterexample of a piece of resist gear that is very effective. If that isn't enough to satisfy you, please refer to this.

I remember when people said the exact same thing about elemental resist builds... or DRK as a subjob... or NIN as a main tank... or WAR as a DD...

Alone yes, a single resist Stun trait is weak. But if you combine it with gear that further enhances it as well as a thuder resist build you might find that it does make a difference.

Take for example Ouryu. With a mediocre earth resist build (+75 from gear), barstone, barpetrify and earth caroll my RDM was able to resist all but one out of a dozen breakgas (lo and behold, the time I didnt resist barpetrify was down).

Uhh, and the difference is what exactly, if we're talking about GEAR that enhances certain TRAITS? I'm not trying to be an ass, but it isn't exactly like you to completely discredit something where there's clear evidence to show that it can be effective in certain situations. Especially something so trivial to test.

Lol, yes I was standing directly beside the solo NIN/BRD tank the entire fight to help him build hate from mazurka spam and to mitigate some AoE damage.

Has anyone killed the Qiqirn Treasure Hunter on the Soulflayer side of the 3rd Floor of Arrapago? Or any of the ones on that path beyond that?

I ask because I'm wondering if it might be similar to the third floor of Zhayolm where 1 of them drops cells and 1 drops armor. Since the maps are inverted, if this were the case, it would make sense that the north would drop cells and the south would drop armor.

Read what aurik's thought about resist gear, and most of our members in our linkshell agreed to him. We rather have something better than resist gear, unless the resistance is proofed to have 100% resist rate. Our linkshell is too lazy to get them.

I'm not saying resist gear is the end-all solution to everything in the game. But I don't think you should refute something you've never even tried.

Assuming we ever get to that boss, I'll just test it lol. Takes a few seconds and the gear costs a grand total of like 200k, which I can just resell if it blows.

So we decided to go here since "someone" that have 2/3 morrigan's body forced us to go here and try the NMs.
    Anyway here is my report:
    1st floor:
We did NW, SW, SE, NE. We cleared the whole room, 6 magic cells from this floor. (I really don't know why some other ls got owned on magic). We popped the NM from the rampart, it was really easy and we got the same drop like the previous ss -.- pannusx2, nimbusx2 & chrx2.
    2nd floor:
We took NW exit and the NM wasn't there, the thf took us up when our mnk saw the NM popped on the other side lol.
    3rd floor:
We farmed some rings while we were trying to do Qiqirn Treasure Hunter, anyway it ran away and stopped by the portal and so we had to sent 2 blms to go there and nuke it to make it come back. It dropped dex x3 -.-.
    4th floor:
We skipped this floor but we killed Qiqirn Treasure Hunter and got dex x3.
    5th floor:
We farmed everything, njord hand, nemains boots, war leg, usukane head dropped, 1 Arrapago Card. We made another assumption now, to pop the chariot in this room you may agro either rampart, East Rampart will pop the chariot in the same room as the rampart, West Rampart will pop the chariot in the North Room. You can only pop 1 chariot depending which door u agro 1st.

The NM run didn't go well for today because we didn't actually get anything off them.

    edit:
    PT setup was:
pld, rdm, whm, cor, mnk, blm
    brd, blm, mnk, mnk, thf

ok, seeing as how the lv15 stuff drops off the archaic gears in this area (everything I've read so far hints to this) and the lv25 stuff drops off the boss, here are the mob that I personally believe may drop lv35 gear.

    Sabotender Maestro (rampart popped)
    Demonic Rose (Rampart popped)
Orobon (rampart popped, with 2 demonic pugils listed before it)
Any of the 6 Qiqirn Treasure Hunters
Any of the 3 Qiqirn Astrologers

People have reported getting ares lv35 body off a QQ Treasure Hunter.

I think it's just 7 of the 9 Qiqirn, much like how Lv35 drops in Zhayolm are assumed to drop from certain Poroggo madames.

    7. 6th floor Rat Treasure Hunter - Never killed
There are a total of 7 lv35 drops in this zone. If you think that the north/south rats on a single floor only have 1 armor drop, each "special" mob drops 1 lv35 armor, we have a 1:1 mapping.

I'm rather curious. What's the actual source of these claims? I've read it a few times, but the sources seem to quote one another. I don't recall reading anyone saying, "Hey, we got this drop" or "These other guys here got this drop". Did I miss something? Here's the point at which it was added to the Wiki (specifically to the Arrapago Remnants page, I'm not even going to muck around looking for when it was added to the main drop table on the Salvage page):

Revision as of 07:01, 15 January 2007; Valyana

I don't think Airforce can be cited as a source unless there is some kind of blog they have that I can't locate/read anyway (if so, and it's mentioned there, is that the source?). The notes for Arrapago on Airforce seems to indicate that they only have info posted for the North sides of 3rd and 4th floor (and that the North QQTH dropped 3 DEX cells for them), and that they have no idea what the QQ are supposed to drop aside from that it would be lv35 armor.

By the way, I'm not suggesting this assertion is incorrect, I just can't find any reliable evidence to back up such a claim.

Got to the 6th floor with 15 minutes / 10 people and wiped.

Killed the QQ on the 4th floor north again, got 2 Nimbus cells. Off of gears we got 1 Enyo feet, 1 Njord hand.

We also wasted time with the 3rd floor QQ, he was a little bitch and ran all the way back to the start of the floor, and then back to the porter. You have to clear virtually the entire floor to fight him properly. Or perhaps have 2 parties, one at the start one at the finish, and make sure he's dotted because he will regain 10%hp/tic if not.

Didn't find the QQ on the 5th floor. Must have to do something to pop him.

Door on the 6th floor is sealed.

We pulled a rampart and it reinforced 2 seasonal treants and we got a gear which spelled our doom. The side-rooms on this floor are empty so it looks like those are ideal camps. How you get to this floor with time to camp, kill, and then have time to fight the boss is beyond me.

This is the 6th floor, there's a blocked door at the end "Blabhal guarded by a mysterious force" , 2 ramparts and a billion gears, but next time I know exactly how to do this floor via sac pulls and such. This rampart pooped out trees, don't have pebbles POL installed on this PC but i'll do it soon and see what the other one poops out. I'm guessing it's a "1 of 2" where you kill a rampart and then it's unlocked.
