What kind of strat/set-up do you cats use to kill the Don Poroggo Slot NM? Folks in my LS tell me he's very resistant to Stun, which makes it impossible to lock him down with CS Stun (which would eliminate the problems of Water Bomb, Frog Chorus, and any number of -ga spells).

He also likes to resist elemental debuffs a lot, which reduces the chances of DoT staying up during a random Frog Chorus. I've tried a lot of different things, and the most effective seemed to be just melee rush him and hope you do enough worthwhile damage before he kills you. Of course, if you fail, you're probably screwed, as most of your front line will become charmed or dead, and you're back line is next.

Is melee rush simply what folks do? And I just didn't have enough MNKs or other DD present to finish the job? I'm kind of at a loss here.

You could consider having all your BLM unequip staves, and when you pop him open with a bunch of Thundaga IIIs. Make sure the MNKs and other DDs are in the back at this point, and have no hate. Then when the BLMs get charmed just send the MNK in to Hundred Fists or something.

His big spells always seem to get interupted by melee. Water bomb is a problem but barwartera and curaga fix that no problem. Not surprizingly, his big spells are his weak point because he'll waste a lot of time usually casting some stupid shit and not do gay WSes.

I keep a few DoT on him (bio, choke, shock etc) and everyone close so it charms everyone and he doesn't regen. Everyone gets uncharmed at the same time. He uses aoe charm more then single target I noticed. (I saw aoe charm like 6 times and single target 2 times over the 2 times I fought it). I notice my dmg isn't the greatest on it (It has a bit of hp, and also Im not always fully geared so I dont know), I spend most of my time healing/keeping dots and let the melee destroy it.

Kuno means Gyroscopic solos or trios I think. Kalia is talking about triple gears.

Yes. Gyroscopic Gears is the name of the enemy that drops them.

Some people use the names interchangably, though.

We tried this zone last night with the intent of popping Don Poroggo using a Zhayolm card, but it didn't quite go as planned...there are a few reasons for that:

    - although our NIN, WAR and THF's have fairly high h2h, we have 0 mnks interested in Salvage, which kinda sucks, especially when coupled with the random drop rate on cells near the beginning. Lots of pots meant no down time, but the kills took forever
    - we made a few mistakes with links/etc which cost us a lot of time
    - some stuff not mentionned on the Wiki (and I think here but not sure) lead us to make a few bad decisions; namely the fomors on the 2nd floor seemed to hit much harder than the ones on the first floor, which made us regret not going back to clear the leftover fomors near the zone entrance on the first floor. Also while this may be known to most of you, Wiki doesn't mention that the gears on the 3rd floor also drop cells, which was a nice surprise.

Now that I have a bit more experience with it, my plan for our next attempt will be:

    1st floor:
    1) take east path. Kill the easy fomors until you get 1 magic or weapon, then go to the big room. One of the 2 hume MNKS there will drop magic x3; either clear what's in the way first, use a sac pull, or kite links (if any) all the way back to entrance to buy time
    2) clear that room + all the fomors you skipped at the beginning
    3) have one person sneak up and run past the big room of respawning fomors to wait at the portal
    4) To farm the big room, have everyone wait in the hallway while someone pulls a fomor back to the group. Fight in the hallway, never in the room.
    5) port whenever you want or people are about to die

    2nd floor:
    1) take NE path and port right away. Skip the fomors as they hit much harder than the ones on the first floor.

    3rd floor:
    1) clear all gears + Devilet to make the Slot pop. Each gear drops 3 random cells.
    2) trade Zhayolm card to slot to pop Don Poroggo.
    3) if there's time left, go east and clear all single and triple gears to pop the "Gyroscopic Gears" NM (100% drop on an Ares head piece)

    Any comments or suggestions? :S
Also I read in this thread that the fomors in Hammerjun's room aggro JA, but does this apply to the 8 ones in the rectangular room on the east path? We were thinking of making one of the BLM come as BST to accelerate the initial farming since all they need is JA to be useful, and pet pull would be nice to pull the hume MNKs right away without worrying about links. Oh and is Restoral 100% stunnable? I remember thinking "that looks too fast to stun" in the past, but last night it looked slow enough

On the second floor the NE imps are guarnteed stuff like 2-3x magic, ws, sj etc with also some armor like that room of 8 fomors in the first floor.

And Gryo gear nm is completely stun immune (spell and headbutt didn't work).

Nice info about the imps :O

I read that about the nm, but Restoral on regular gears is 100% stunnable though right? I don't mean just resist rate, but also wind-up time. i.e. Bomb Toss is always stunnable due to a long wind-up time, Radiant Breath is always stunnable but you have to be paying attention because the wind up time is much shorter, and Cursed Sphere is "unstunnable" unless you get lucky. Just wondering where Restoral fits in there, because I might come as BLM just for that next time since 2 WHMs for a farming run seems like a waste anyway.

The 8 fomor room on 1F east path don't link. I do the pulls there all the time (usually completely naked aggro pulling). They seem to follow normal fomor link rules- they won't link no matter what unless they're partied with other fomor, and even then only link to the ones they're PT'd to. It also seems like all the fomor in the zone aggro to JAs (normal low HP and magic aggro range), though I haven't had a chance to test that completely.

The fomor in the last room of 1F seem to follow some kind of weird swarm rules... Pulling one often causes others to begin moving, and they have a larger aggro radius than normal, but I've still never seen them link. I'm curious though if anyone has gotten a cell to drop off these fomor when taking the east path. We've killed probably 20+ of them (total in all our runs) when taking the east path and never seen a single cell from them...

They can; on our run we took the east path and we got a body cell drop off them.

when we do the final room on the first floor.. i usually gather the fomors with sneak on me, and bring them near the blms... then have 2 blms -ga nuke them while someone is already at the portal... as soon as they die we port up..

typically out of killing 1 round of them , we get 4-5 cell drops

You don't need to clear all the gears for the slot to pop, I don't think you need to kill Devilet either but when we did pop Don Poroggo we killed it first. As to bringing a blm/bst to pull bottom east room, the mobs don't link, and even if you get absolutely no ranged cells anywhere it's still pretty easy to aggro pull them solo.

No, there will not be a slot until Devlet dies. The Gyro gear is for the door I believe.

What I have tried is to sleep the last gear as we kill Devlet but it resists sleep sometimes and isn't a reliable strategy. The gear is gay and we wanted to hold the last non nm-gear since you'll agro the room anyway as you chase after Devlet.

Devilet opens the door, and you don't need to clear the gears to fight devilet, just have a dot on him and wait till he flies back past or stick a pet on him as he's running to bring it straight back.

The slot doesnt pop till you kill Devlet.

Our group kills all gears in the room, NM gear pops, no Slot.

Our group kills Devlet, Slot pops.
