Loot whore? Thats funny, theres not a lot in teh game i need or want... try again. I used to co lead a shell, and yes, we did things that benefitted everyone in the shell, what makes you think the ONLY gear ppl want is Epeen gear thats super rare and goes to senior members? I simply stated there are many reason why someone leaves a shell, and gave an example of just one... Your shell is there to take care of you just as much as you to take care of yoru shell. Its not a one way street. Your members are rewarded for the dedication they put forth, and it doesnt take 7months to a year to do that. Sorry if youre not in a shell that does that.

Simple... Dedication, for yoru shell, and your friends. If you leave a shell JUST because you got the item you wanted, you never cared about teh shell to begin with...

Everyone wants items, nobody wants to be in full AF / AH gear forever, but they want to have fun getting the items, because nobody wants to be treated like Soldier #298098 rather than a member of an elite organization that an LS should be giving.

After you get your item, good for you. The point to staying is up to you. Leave instantly after you get your item because that was the only point of you being in the LS? Sure that's lootwhore. But did you stay because you weren't in it 100% for the loot, but also for other things? Like are you having fun doing sea / sky / whatever your LS does? Having fun being in the same LS as your friends? That's more than enough reason to stay.

People who only care about loot upgrades at the expense of others so they can be better or more prestigious than other people should just go play something else than an MMO. People who care about loot so that they can contribute more or be a more effective player have legit reasons for that. Obviously you can take pride in the progress you make in an MMO, but it's hard to say that you really "deserve" X item for the time you put in when there are dozens of other people who also put time in, and when that item can't usually be gotten on your own.

This debate has been rehashed so many times already, but really the only definitive thing that can be said is that there should be rules established by LS leaders that the members know about and agree to, and then if the rules get bent/broken, then you can legitimately complain. If you're in an LS that says your soul belongs to them and so does any gear you get through it for as long as you're in there, then if you stay in it just because they're a better LS and you'll get more loot, it's your own selfishness for doing so and then pissing people off if you want to leave without returning gear after a year. Maybe you do anyways and you'll have a lot of people who agree with you, but you can't argue that you're completely right if there was an understood rule about such a thing.

That being said, I think the most rewarding thing is to play with people you have fun with. If you don't play with people you like, then all the parts of the game that get old / boring become too much of a drag when you have to deal with extra drama on top of it.
