I do not think that we can depend on one earthquake on the bottom end of Taiwan to take care of the RMT. We still have to remember that the servers are (Over there). Fortunately, I find a small bit of comfort in the article you posted.

Sound familiar to our gripes about RMT? Put a spin on the meaning of "everything south of Taiwan" and you have the stereotype of RMT culture.

My ISP routes my FFXI connection through Australia, so I am skeptical that the Taiwan earthquake is going to cause Internet blackouts. The earthquakes likely impact is causing an increased load on other backbones.

But going back to the original topic: this has been a trend occurring ever since SE announced their task force. Although there are servers where people say that not much has changed, a lot of servers have witnessed the usual suspects vanish like a fart in the wind.

On the Cerberus server, I tried to kill Zipacna with a couple of other people (failed, due to not understanding how DoT spells functioned). The interesting fact about the situation was that Zipacna was up for hours, and continued to be "available" throughout our botched attempt to kill (we continued zoning), and it was still strutting around when I logged. There is definitely something going on--either RMT have found something new and juicy to exploit, or have been discouraged by the overhead of terminated accounts, or they are focusing on leveling up new accounts. Either way, it's a golden opportunity.

Ottik is a character from a Czech bedtime story in which a woman was unable to conceive a child, so her and her desperate husband found a tree stump that "looked" like a baby. The woman acted pregnant for the gestation period and then had a baby. The other tenants of the apartment building were very happy for her. The woman enjoyed acting like a mother so much, the stump actually came to life and began to feed, constantly. First pets begin to disappear, then people, eventually little Ottik was discovered by everyone and promptly killed with an axe.

I'm sure I've left out alot of details. They did make a Czech movie about the story, and there's more little sub-plots within the movie, like the elderly man with poor eyesight always trying to grasp the knickers on a pre-teen girl.
