Been tossing around ideas with a few people, and it was suggested to me that possibly the zones and/or bosses scale in difficulty based on how many people are in your alliance. Sort of like Uninvited Guests. If this is the case, it could possibly explain why LBC seems much harder to some groups than it does to other. Next time you fight LBC, take note of how many people/parties were in your alliance, and whether he seemed unusually high level, or just normal.
Secondly, someone mentioned that it might be cool if final product Salvage equipment could be worn without penalty when you first enter the zone. That would definitely change the dynamis of Salvage for the better, although it seems like wishful thinking
