    Ridill Priority

Now, I'm not exactly sure how most point-based HNMLS do this but in our LS, whoever has the most points and can equip the item is going to get the item, so in this case Ridill. My LS is looking into ways on how to implement policies, provided you have the correct job, i.e. WAR/DRK first then whatever. But, another burden comes into play. We can't restrict anyone's wish from obtaining an item. So, my question is how do you go about implementing something while keeping their contribution to the LS (points) and job priority for certain items.

Give 'em to WARs. Lotsa lulz if any other job gets them, except maybe Kraken-less DRKs.

Nowadays, it takes far less time to level war to 75 than to get a ridill to drop. Give the people with war75 a slight point advantage when considering the item, but beyond that let it be lotted among anyone with sufficient points and the desire to level war to use it.

Honestly, this is the mindset I hate the most. It's like me getting Dalmatica then I'll have more incentive on leveling either BRD or RDM. If it was up to me, I'd give it to the WARs and DRKs, provided some conditions apply.

OK, then give it to war only and tell anyone without war that they're SOL. That should make your "We can't restrict anyone's wish from obtaining an item" people really happy.

We've always used a combination of job usefulness and linkshell seniority, although because we started small and moved up to 3 kings etc, we filtered a lot of the "bad eggs" out of the LS as time passed.

We've yet to lose a king body abj. or Ridill to anyone leaving and it's rare to see people leaving the LS fullstop - usual excuse is time problems due to us being an EU-based LS.

Having said that, we employ an undisclosed points system of sorts, where the leaders have a list of who is going to get what, but it isn't public. Sounds like it would be drama-filled, but it never is. Maybe we are just lucky with the group of people we have.

Of course you would have more of an incentive. What would a WHM, BLM or SMN do with a Dalmatica?

By that logic, what would a SAM, RNG (after recent patch, I heard) do with it?

I'm not trying to come off as rather rude, Aurik, but the situation I just layed out is raher complex. You can't please everyone, I understand that. But we also have an obligation to stop useful items like Ridill going to the wrong job. This totally reminds me of that WHM getting Novio Earring over other BLMs.

I'd say this with a twist: they have to have one of the other 5 jobs that can use it already levelled. So no giving Ridills to WHMs with no melee job over 37.

    Exactly.

I'm being entirely serious by the way.

Fixed that to add my two cents. Levelling WAR to 75 might be easy. Doing it just because you omgneeded a Riddil is rather pointless (IMO) if it's just to pop some Sushi, equip that Osode you got as a BRD, and tickle Imps in the Mire in your STR gear.

Gear this good shouldn't go to just any loot whore that wants a status symbol. Gear & merit up to put it to real use or pass for someone that will.

I would like to know if certain HNMLSs have accomplish a policy where we weed out the lootwhores, so to speak, but also considering their contributions to the LS.

Except nowadays with ToAU merit zones, you can max out your war merits in 2-3 weeks tops with dedication, and a lot of good war gear is purchaseable. I'd rather have an extremely dedicated player have a ridill for their war 3 weeks from now than someone who only occasionally shows up but already happens to have war levelled today.

We do have some very good, long-time WARs who clearly should get Ridill over some RNG, SAM, etc. Also, keep in mind that while that char is getting WAR to Lv.75, someone else could be enjoying the benefits of it, rather than wait quite a bit before actually equipping it.

It seems its time for the monthly "Job Priority vs. Participation/Seniority" debate. Use your own discretion shellholders, if that rng/sam/thf/drk has been showing up to every camp and does indeed desire a ridill, he definitely should get it over the warrior that only shows up to half the camps.

Good for you, then, give them a point advantage (like require people without a job to use it NOW to spend 150% or 200% points) and they should walk away with the toy unless they've really been slacking.
