I mean, that might be a bit brusque of a summary, but either the guy's only slightly less good, in which case he's still good enough, or he's not good enough, and why the hell are you keeping him around and letting him lot on your Ridills if you don't feel he's good enough to use it well?
Again, just me, I'm probably wrong.
Not everyone in a HNMLS can be Wayne Gretzky, Babe Ruth, Michael Jordan (in his prime), Mario Lemieux, Gordie Howe, 11/10 caliber players...you DO have your John LeClairs, Doug Gilmours, Dennis Rodmans (wtf happened to him anyways), and these 8-9/10 caliber players are equally important to the team, even those sub caliber people like Tie Domi, Bob Probert, those players are equally an aspect of the team...and they are just as important as those 11/10 players.
most of my named references are from hockey cause thats the sport I know best, Canadian...
If you're going to fucking tell me EVERYONE in your HNMLS is an 11/10 player, well guess what, you're fucking full of shit and they're most likely all the 8-9/10's and your server doesnt even have any 11/10's.
BSTs firsts fuck everyone else.
An 8-9/10 player is still going to be dramatically better with a ridill that without. I consider myself probably a 9, personally. I'm always high as fuck when I play so I make stupid mistakes sometimes, but I generally play very very well.
I'm not saying everyone has to be 11/10 to have a good ls. Don't know how you came to the conclusion that I was. 8-9/10 would generally not be considered sucking, I would think. In a sports analogy, to get a 10/10 in something like the olympics where you're talking about the very best, only the extraordinary have in history achieved the perfect scores, and those performances are remembered by many for lifetimes. Wow that was cheesy.
What I'm saying is that if a player is a good player, they will make good use of a ridill as a warrior. If you're not capable of understanding what it takes to make it work, and how to be truly useful with it, you have no business even being in a good linkshell. It is not a difficult concept to merit sword for all of 8 hours, or to plan ahead for the possibilty of obtaining a ridill, or to use a little more accuracy or sushi instead of meat in such and such situation. Or to put the damn thing away now and then lol.
All I'm really saying is what I said in the first post: Having idiots in your linkshell is a problem with your linkshell, not a problem with giving ridills to warriors. And by idiots I don't mean players who are far above average, i.e. 8-9/10.
So if you log in about 2-3 times a week and fall asleep during half of those events your probably not a 10...
There goes my ridill....
man Nynja, that was the best analogy ever.Originally Posted by NynJa

Personally, I'd say Mario by far. He had a much tougher career to work with (sup Hodgkins disease) and a fucked up back for a portion of his late career.
Gretzky was higher up on the points list and what not because, lets face it, he was on a better team. A good portion of someones production comes from the people around them, and if you're not around good players, your production is going to suffer. Not to say Gretzky is bad, he's still fucking badass, and not to say that the Pens of Mario's time were shitty, but if Mario had the same caliber players has Gretzky had, he'd be higher than where he is now in the all time points lists.
oh, and he's from Montreal.

Lemieux ftw, but both were really amazing players.
About the ridill thing, im WAR and a THF 75 (also bst, drk, rng, sam lol), both with fairly good gear- Having used ridill on both jobs to nearly its max potential (stupidfuckingDMearring...) id say ridill changes THF more than it changes WAR. Although even the "changed" thief isnt as powerful as the WAR is after obtaining ridill. I tested it in endgame, and vs Fafnir and Nidhogg Ridill WAR isnt amazing [w/out 2 brd ;;]; however, it does very well for things with lower eva/def like Kirin.
Ridill is good for DRK for the same reason as a Kraken (lol and its easier to obtain- my ls has like 4ridill:1kraken;_; at least) and the combat skill potential is higher, who seriously merits club...
Job priorities are stupid, rewards should be distributed based on merit, not because they clicked the right box when they started playing the game. (Distributing drops based on job or level or race is wrong ;; ).
Systems should be in place to prevent useless people from getting points, and points should determine who can lot what. Claims are made, and fights are won because people put in effort. Ridills dont fall from the fucking sky, its not fair to make people who put in the work get fucked so some warrior who only comes to fafnir camps can get the ridill and never camp again.
All the "elite" drops like Bodies and Ridills should always go to the most dedicated members who earned them. If systems favor certain jobs, its only an incentive for people to skip events to lvl those jobs. And i can tell you from personal experience, that nothing motivates someone to lvl WAR more than a Ridill in Mog Safe... Within days i was 66->75 with max sword, and war merits :\.
/Rant off
I sorta have to agree with Plow on this. I would hate to give such a rare item to a person who will hardly make use of it or never go on that job. Would you give Ninurta's Sash to a BLM who has shitty NIN equips aka all AF pieces and no real gear. I'm sorry, I would do my best to cockblock people like that because simply put, they don't derserve gear like that. But hey, giving Novio earring to WHMs is the cool thing nowadays.
If you get a ridiculously good item, you're expected to make very good of use, especially if it's a rare item. You're also expected to use that item. I'm not saying other jobs can't lot Ridill at all but the simple fact that it doesn't benefit in any way should just cause for you NOT to lot it.
Straw man falacy ftl.
Enjoy giving your ridills to warriors who dont attend events, and sashes to people who only have ninja leveled.

I'll be PISSED if that E.Bd falls into his lap.
his pearl should be broken then, obviously a lootwhore.Originally Posted by NynJa

The funny part is that he did nothing but get fists slammed into his face all day long. This happened every game.
There is a guy on fairy that had ridill for over a year and just did get a chance to use it in November when he hit 70 bst (had whm, rdm, blm at 75 when he got it).
Bloodflavor (jubo) doesn't count by any stretch of the imagination. Myco just got her first job capable of using it to 70 and doesnt even bother cuz it's her thief >_>
I love this post only cause of all the hockey players named, fucking win!Originally Posted by NynJa
Nynja is completely right on the point that Ridill doesn't make you god overnight, if you have crap gear you're still going to do crap damage regardless of how many times you swing your sword. Also the difference between axe/ridill and axe/axe really isn't as astronomical as some people make it out to be, about a 15% increase in dps on xp level stuff at most, really not something to make axe/axe WAR a significantly lower tier DD
I'll grant that shit war without ridill is a shit war after ridill, but did you just say that having a 15% lower dps wasn't enough to qualify for being a lower tier DD? Never mind the 50% slower TP gain.
As for most of the rest of you, you're thinking too much in the extreme.
I would give a ridill to a thf thats been dedicated to the shell since day one and shows up to everything and helps everyone over a warrior that just got pearled and hasn't even gotten a chance to prove themselves, or over a lootwhore warrior who only shows up to aery and nothing else(though why not just kick the dead weight?), but I wouldn't give a ridill to a blm main/onry/nomeleejobsleveled no matter how long they've been in the shell. That would be like me lotting blm relic hat in xarcabard when my blm isn't even high enough to cast warp yet. SOMEONE in aery should have a job high enough to at least equip the damn thing and if they don't then seriously why ARE you in aery?
The thing is, something like that shouldn't HAVE to be said, but people will be stupid bitches over the damned sword and lot it for a trophy when its actually a really good item.
In my view respect has to flow both ways. I'll reward you a trophy item because its a trophy item and if you've put in the work you should be entitled to the spoils, but if you would take it out of the hands of people who have put in only slightly less work than you, but whom the item goes from being a trophy to becoming damn near game breaking, I kind of want to hear your logic for why you should get it over them if they've worked hard too.
But hey as long as everyone's clear over loot distribution its all good really.
