Just let WARs pay like 100 points on ridill, thf+drk 125 points, rest 200 points. Or whatever value you use ^^

    WAR >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> RNG > DRK(no kraken) >>>>> DRK(kraken) >> other jobs.

No other jobs take advantage / make use of Ridill like a WAR does. It's mostly a toy for the other jobs, but the best item a WAR can ever get.

I'm a big fan of job priority with some attendance-like consideration going into it. Normally a long-time LS drk that's active would still get a Ridill over a just pearled 75war, but I'd also give Ridill to someone who just hit 70war on a second/third job over that 75drk.

If you do job priority then that breaks the whole "can't stop anyone from lotting anything" so that rule is gone, no longer there because you *are* stopping people. There is no complexity, there is no wrong job, and who's obligation is is exactly, the WARs who don't have one yet?

I understand something this powerful will help kill times and things of that nature but I wouldn't think giving it to a WAR would allow the LS to overcome anything they haven't before. Sure it "helps the LS" but I see that as an excuse for current WARs to get it faster and I don't blame them really.

If it's a points based system, most points should get it.

They earned it by showing up at events, you did not earn lotting rights by leveling WAR to before they did 75 and showing up to fewer events.

It's common sense that senority and point juggernauts go hand-in-hand, unless the senority in most HNMLSs don't raid. The point juggernauts in our LS are often the ones who have been in the LS for a long time and have contributed a lot. So far, we've gotten 5 ridills on about 27 Fafnirs. All of which have gone to WARs, except for two. Those two went to RNGs. Discretion should be used on the Leaders' side as well but we should also tell members to pass. Often then not, this doesn't happen in point-based LS and that's what I hate.

Honestly, it sounds like you want a Ridill and some other job that can use it is cockblocking you on it cuz they have more points. Maybe I'm wrong, but this is just the way it seems.

If your linkshell is point based and you want to show some consideration to job usefulness, then I would do like Aurik said and give a slight point bonus to someone who has a job that can make more use of it. Example: DRK has 15 points and WAR has 10. WAR can get Ridill since they can obviously make better use of it. However if DRK has 50 and WAR has 10, then that would be kind of unfair to the DRK given the nature of your linkshell.

See, that's the thing: if you're forcing people to pass when they have both the points and the right (according to LS loot policy) to lot something...then you're not really a "points based" LS. The leadership is deciding who gets something.

I guess you don't trust your membership to spend their points in a manner that you approve of.

Perhaps you misunderstood my point. I know it's not hard to max your merits, or level to 75. Let me make an example:

I would give a Riddil to: Any dedicated player that's currently Mage only. Even if they don't have 75WAR or merits that's easily fixed. Someone that has the best gear on their whatever Mage and takes the job seriously will take that Riddil seriously and build a proper, useful to the LS Riddil WAR.

I would NOT give a Riddil to: Some cheap ass "I whored this job for loot" mage that for whatever twist of fate just happened to have the most points. You know the type. They'll never put in the time or gil for their Riddil WAR to do more than suck 2-3 times extra each round so that Riddil is a waste in their hands.

Well then I agree with you
Fact is, most "I whored this job for loot" mages already have war levelled, so that job priority can work in their favour instead of against it.

Anyone who gives a Ridill to someone that isn't WAR over a WAR is creating another Map.

Because a Ridill will mean the difference between win and wipe? I don't think so...

Zeus didn't get Ridill in TBC. He got it in Illuminati.

And we're back to the root of the problem with point based systems. Or more appropriately the difficulty in figuring out how to make everyone happy with such rare and popular toys, no matter what system you use.

Too true. If they're willing to put the time and cash in to doing WAR right it's not really their fault if they never get to use it for the LS.

That would be that hardest call imo. You know said person would be a whoop ass Riddil WAR...but you're never going to want to give up your go to WHM, RDM, BRD, whatever. I wouldn't want to punsih the mage for being good though so I wouldn't have a problem with them getting it.

This is my take on leveling a job for an item. If you really, really want an item like a Ridill you should level the job and understand it first. It would really suck for someone to get an item like a Ridill only to find out that he/she doesn't like to play WAR or decides that getting Warcry merits is the thing to do...

I sense that you are insulting Takedown, Septimus. Is this correct?

I do like to reward members for their contributions but at a certain point. I would have no objections if a RNG or a SAM got, provided they had a substancial (sp?) lead over other WARs and DRKs. But, when a RNG is beating a WAR by 10-20 points, then the WAR or DRK should clearly get it.

The reason I would like to restrict some people's right to bid on items is simple they're being lootwhore on some things. Who the fuck lots on Novio Earring when you only have WHM leveled over BLMs? Who wants a Shadow Mantle as a WHM over PLDs? Who the fuck merits Warcry? (Takedown).

    I'm glad someone said it...

It's an item that will have little significance to the ability of the linkshell to do stuff, so the job of the player should be secondary to their desire to obtain the item. My linkshell considers warriors thieves and dark knights, where the number of points they have determines the people who lot.

As a side note, the one thief who got one is also on their way to 75 warrior but that wasn't considered at the time they got the ridill.

    Those merits never get old.

He told me a few months ago he already cleared them out, but no screenshot proofs.

I disagree. A Ridill can absolutely directly effect how well certain events are played out where you fight numerous small mobs, like Dynamis, Limbus or Salvage. A Ridill WAR can absolutely destroy Salvage mobs.

Ridill loses its effectiveness on "big" HNM, like Cerberus or CoP Wyrms.

I enjoy my ridill ranger more than my ridill warrior. Me and Mich are rangerkittys and I look forward to the day when we both have ridills. BG has a sortof requirement though, if you get a ridill, your ass better get warrior leveled pronto.
