But now according to latest statistics it is approx. 8.6T and growing at a rate of $2Billion a day.

and to the above poster who said he had confidence in Bush look at his track record.

Supreme court decided his office not votes. (Gore had won that district but Supreme court decided before recount could be done)
    Failed response to 9/11
Failed response to Hurriance Katrina. He knew the Hurriance was going to hit NO and knew that the livies could essentially break. There is a video of him being advised of this but he ignored the advisor.
Failed Iraqi war and has potentially caused a Civil war. The formor UN leader Kofi Annan stated in an interview that Iraq is worse off now that it was under Saddam.
Loss of majority in congress and in the senate

so what else will happen in the next 2 years?
Recount was done, Bush declared victor. The SECOND recount was shot down before it could be done. Honestly, get the fuck over that shit.
Failed response to 9/11? How? We rolling over Afghanistan right after = fail?
Bush has 0 power in Katrina. He is 1 fucking man. That is why there was FEMA, THEY failed. Plus, Louisiana has to ask for military relief, which they didn't do right away.
    Mentioning Kofi Annan is lol
A failed policy in Iraq, yes, but it's not like nothing good has happened from that region. The war is also not over, for I feel we will be there for another 3-4 years or so (and would support that). Iraq may be worse off RIGHT NOW if we left, but we aren't leaving right now. We are trying to make things better there.
And still, Kofi Annan is LOL
Its hard to forget about the election considering it was such a load of bullshit. If it were any other state I might be more lenient with the result, but the fact his brother was the govenor of Florida at the time is way too much of a coincidence.

I bet you if Katrina was hitting Texas instead of Louisiana it would not have taken days to send aid out. Pretty clear his administration doesn't really give a shit about impoverished minorities.

Within a couple years tops of when we leave Iraq, whether it will be tomorrow or in however many years, problems will arise yet again. We are fighting a battle we simply will not win, and eventhough some progress has been made there, its futile in the long run and will bite us in the ass.

Lastly, Bush just lacks intelligence. He barely has a grasp on the english language, makes up his own words, and is a god awful public speaker. He sucked in school, a school he would NEVER had gotten into if his last name wasn't Bush, and his ineptitude is just as apparent today.

I suppose the best example of the sentiment the US feels towards its leadership at the moment is no clearer than in the approval ratings and in the ass raping the reublicans took a few months ago.

    Bring back Bill.
way to make points backed up by nothing whatsoever other than your gut, really great job there I must admit. Btw, Bush Sr. wasn't president, or governor even, when Bush Jr. went to Yale.

And Mr. Katrina there, this is a much more complicated issue than you are giving credit. This isn't a "throw money, all is well" thing. Millions upon millions of the dollars spent by the government have been given to people that have fucked the system and were hardly effected at all. All of the stalling you are now seeing is not a product of bush and is crazy to think it is. Bureaucracies run the show 95% of the time in America, not the President, the governor, or the mayor. It all comes down to a failed system, NOT a failed leader. Again, your Bush blinders have you ONLY looking one direction, when almost all of the blame should be put elsewhere.

Also, if you think I like Bush, you are sorely mistaken. I think the guy is a failure as the president conservative america voted for 6 (wow 7 now) years ago. There are so many things this president has done wrong it makes me sick. The things are not what most liberals point out though. Sure, he is partly to blame for Katrina, as any president would be after a new system is put in place that has never been tested, but for the most part, all of your complaints are unfounded. I do have a problem with him appointed Brownie as well, but there is probably something *gasp* that the white house knows better than we do about his qualifications. In this information age, every small move is scrutinized to the point every small action causes a backlash of outrage and bullshit. In today's America, Teddy Roosevelt would be eaten alive by the public.

And if you actually, honestly think Bush delayed actions after Katrina because of a race issue, you are not very intelligent.

it happened during his precidency, its one him. if the opposite happened and the area was all cleaned up by now people would be praising him. it goes both ways, and he needs to accept responsibility. if it is "Bureaucracies run the show 95% of the time in America" then every president, save a few, need to be regarded as entirely neutral. lets not credit or discredit any of them ever again if they aren't worth a damn.
Its not that he didnt do enough then. its that he STILL hasnt done enough

Bush appointed a man who was really good at arabian horse-breeding to run FEMA. Bush thought he was good at running FEMA, even after Katrina.

ninjaedit: Actually Brownie sucked at arabian horse-breeding also.

Wikipedia:Before joining the DHS/FEMA, Brown was the Judges and Stewards Commissioner for the International Arabian Horse Association, (IAHA), from 1989-2001. After numerous lawsuits were filed against the organization over disciplinary actions[10], Brown was forced to resign.[11]

You don't get to appoint sub-par horse-breeders to the head post of FEMA, then shift blame to FEMA when it delivers the expected epic fail. Not in my book anyway. I'm glad to see that shit flies with you though, everything is starting to make sense.

    ninjaeditthesecond:

Wikipedia is fun, you get to find out what Bush employees do while people are dying because of government inaction to a disaster.

Controversy arose in November of 2005 as a House committee investigating the response to Katrina released about 1,000 e-mail messages between Brown, staff and acquaintances. On the day Katrina struck, Brown jokingly wrote "Can I quit now? Can I go home?" He later quipped to a friend on September 2 that he could not meet her because he was "trapped [as FEMA head] ... please rescue me." On August 29th (the day the hurricane hit), Brown also quipped in e-mail to a co-worker, "I am a fashion god" because he shopped at North American fashion chain Nordstrom's [26]. In another e-mail, Brown's press secretary, Sharon Worthy, advised him to roll up his sleeves, "to look more hard-working." "Even the president rolled his sleeves to just below the elbow."[27] An e-mail offering critical medical equipment went unanswered for four days. [28]

    Bring back Bill.
because he was quick to do something when the USS Cole was destroyed,
the tanzanian and kenyan US embassy bombings,
the 1993 world trade center bombing,
oh and when Sudan offered to extradite Osama to the US but he turned down the offer in 96.

yeah. glad he reacted fast to all those situations.
I'm not backing Bush, but dont just bash Bush about not reacting fast enough and say "bring back Bill"

Yeah, that's cool. If you're going to say "hey, your argument is invalid because your source is inaccurate" you'd better give a better reason than "lol @ your source". Those emails were part of over 1000 that were gone through by the congressional oversight committee during the investigation into what went wrong.

On an event as major as Hurricane Katrina, you can bet that the information is accurate and reliable. The part he quoted from wiki also has a source on it in the article.
