Now, I'm pretty ambivalent about his execution. As american legal punishment I'm against it, but whatever.

For the people saying "those who wanted to see him dead are no better" etc. etc.

...is it worse to execute him after trying and convicting him in a court of law...

...or just trying to kill him with a few strategic missile strikes at the very beginning of the invasion of Iraq? Trying to kill Saddam was the first thing we did in the war.

I don't really have an opinion either way here, but I find the "The best thing about this is that it is the Iraqi people deciding his death, not the Americans" justice posturing amusing, being as how the only reason "the iraqi people" got to determine his fate is because we failed at trying to kill him at the onset of the war.
