PLD/NIN for 3kings?

The discussion in our LS was if /WAR was an outdated sub. Which I believe that it is in pretty much any situation.

I don't use /WAR for NIN or PLD anymore.

I don't read Lolbrady guides, and while I post on KI for amusement at work, I DEFINATELY don't get any actual game information from it. I've pretty much been stalking this board for info for the past 9 months for any information that I would need for various parts of he game.

I just never have anything to really add and when I do someone else says it first.

We use PLD/NIN when we are trying for a small team fafnir.. 8-12 people.. Aspid PLD/NIN is a waste, KB is WAR/NIN or NIN/WAR onry. I see it's main use not for hate, but MP consumption, you add in two tanks with 300-500MP, make them take less damage, and hold hate well. This serves to allow your alliance yo slack on healing a tad and focus on killing the mob.

For example, if I had 10 people on, 2 were WHM, but one of them was also a BLM, I could have PLD/NIN tanks and have the second WHM go BLM and kill the mob faster.


Then again there are those LS who think PLD/NIN is the way on fafnir with 40 people there... Kick the dead ftl. If zerging mobs like that just stick with /WAR, the subbed in tanks need to get hate fast

The only reason is if you need somebody who can gain hate FAST for whatever reason. PLD/NIN can hold hate much better but PLD/WAR can run in and grab hate much faster.

I personally like playing pld/nin more than nin/whatever. I feel less reliant on other people because I can cure myself. With haste and 2x marches you shouldn't really get hit except for aoe spams back to back if you know how to use Utsusemi. Generally I feel like I can pull more hate over ninjas (haven't played with a nin/brd yet though) as well, flash spam every 24 or so seconds does a lot for hate. Everytime I've fought fafhogg though I've been on nin/war to help damage and to skillchain. Things like jormungand I definitely prefer pld/nin though.

Some fights just don't last long enough, or just aren't challenging enough to warrant /NIN or /BRD or /DRK, etc.

For Tiamat or JoL, sure be /NIN or /BRD or /DRK. You can't burn those down in a matter of minutes, and you'll want a tank with solid hate mid-late fight.

But for 3 kings? Just go /WAR if you want, jump in and burn it down. Granted, it takes certain LSs on my server an hour to kill fafhogg, but it really doesn't need to take that long.

My LS does everything in small numbers, so I like to /nin everything. We don't do 2Kings atm, but I /nin for sky and shit. It's more fun then /war too.

They seem to have dumbed down down the hate spike from rampart/sentinel

The most recent update made Sentinel hate more powerful actually. I've been leveling pld and on mobs that I use Sentinel, it's nearly impossible, even for the ranger to pull hate... I experimented with pld/nin at 50-55 a bit and feel it's probably better than /war even at that level, but I use primarily /war for the shield skillups.

I don't understand why spike hate is important to have? Ppl said pld/nin wouldnt be able to hold hate a while back without voke, or nin/drk without voke. Its all a load. Hate is hate. Only time I find myself really needing "spike hate" is when I get roared. And there are ways to tank and never get roared on wyrms, and alot more mobs out there besides wyrms.

And besides that, what do you call cureIV for spike hate? Especially when the RDM stacks on the enmity.

I got invited to a party by a pld last night because I wrote that I had DD gear and sword merits in my seacom, he was tank and I was DD, when I hit 37 I decided to mess around with flash, and sucsesfully tanked a full chain without provoke. I didn't think pld/nin would work before carnage ellegy but flash blind is way stronger than I had ever imagined.
