The entire story had to have been bullshit. Think about it for a second. Girl was supposedly all over him, and he ignored her to play a video game? There's always a chance it could happen, but 99% of the time, it won't. If an attractive girl is coming on to you, you don't have to do anything. Just sit there, and keep her comfortable (ie: don't say anything stupid, avoid talking at all if you're bad at flirting) and you're in (or at least on her good side).

I think he made it all up just to get negative reactions from people, so he'd have a reason to argue.

Man, I'm in a similiar situation where I can't man up to tell this girl I like her but its not because of me. Shes Muslim, and I'm not. Shes an incredible person but does believe heavily in her faith and her background as a pakistani. Shes opened up to me and told me alot about her personal life and even that her father has arranged her brother's marriage which made me feel like, I don't have the slightest chance in the world because of how much she respects her father.

I expanded on that and tried to find out more, and she told me that she told her father that she'd find the right person for herself. I'm hard pressed to believe that and I'd really like to start a closer relationship but I dont want to lose her as a friend either. Dunno what to do, religion makes things so complicated.

Honestly you may have met a few, and just not known it. With a total lack of known exposure, your jewdar is still probably in the formative stages. I grew up in Madison, and the jews were just like any other white kids, basically. The typical/stereotypical physical features are slight if present at all in populations without recent immigration. They, um, usually have dark hair.
