Our Gjallarhorn bard still had about the same amount of trouble landing Earth Threnody and Elegy on Cerberus as any of our other Bards did. The extra skill helps I'm sure, but not to overcome whatever resist tier Cerberus is packing for resisting earth magic.
I haven't had the horn long enough to see a lot of results but if I were to estimate the percentage that my debuffs land on HNMs it would be something like,
tiamat - 95%
cerb - 5% (doesn't seem much better than any other brd)
khimaira - 15% (i did notice a bit of difference from other brds)
i'm 261 wind/ 266 singing (waiting on AF1+1 pants) with 70+26 CHR, just can't seem to increase landing rates on cerb which is frustrating.
Good to hear (slowly working on mine at the moment). Thanks for the feedback.
well thank you for the respectful replies and opinions. I can't quote everyone's responses but overall I think our problem with BRD jumping is we used to do this on Fafnir when we were short BRDs, but we found that it built a lot of hate. (Of course back then Fafnir wasn't the joke he is now and this was a very long time ago).
Since Jorm can roar, it seems the next in line are usually the brd, at least for us. And this is a brd w/out g-ballads and hasn't been rotating, so the brd jumping parties might be risky.
Someone else mentioned BRD moving around might cause problems, well in our Jorm fights we all stand together and we all stand on the feet.
To my fellow ls mate Bk, I still disagree, I was told hate was OK last night and BLM's conserved their mp... In the screenshot with Jorm at 24% which starts spam mode, all BLM's have 500+ and both PLD's have around 100 mp. Seems like if PLD's have more mp they can cure the BLM's and stunners more thus freeing up BLM's to nuke harder and finish him faster.
But alas, I may be in a minority still, maybe we will try it in tank party, and maybe try rotating and see which works best.
Thanks for the input everyone![]()
We had Horn in BLM pt last night thats why =p
And i dont know what the problem was, the one night i tanked Jorm on bardok, seriously i was spamming cure IV and shit, hate was flawless, and i didnt drop under 200mp but once, and mostly i was at 300+. Last nights jorm was just ghey tho, he was grumpy he had Ethereal for dinner before we fought him. =P Lots of Roars too
Even though she would have asked me in game if she really wanted my opinion, i think they should go in the tank party. If your blms arent getting resisted than they should be pulling hate at least periodically. The success of a wyrm fight can hinge one way or the other on tank status, you can recover from blms being dead. So if we have to use only one gbard, it goes with the tanks.
As for BK saying he's a joke, except for maybe the adds, well the adds are part of the fight, so he cant be a joke, except for maybe the adds. Also, if its so flawlessy tanked than the blms are not curing because "they have enough hate as it is" which way is it? I would think which party it goes in depends on how your alliance is set up on the particular day.
That being said it is a pretty easy fight , and i agree, just do it with 1 party![]()
Ok so i mean hes a joke in terms of tanking and holding hate, maybe til he starts his triple Roar spammage, im just saying plenty of time weve fought and plds had full mp most of the fight so why need ghorn for them when its like that? and MOST of the time our blms are gettin massive adds and running out of mp constantly trying to control them all.
and shush caudle to your 1 party =p ya hacker lol
I pulled a good amount of hate being on blm in gparty I had +500 mp but it went to waste because it was easy to pull hate . I just saved mp after 30 percent to nuke adds every stun nuke etc pulled hate. At the 24 percent screenshot I died shortly thereafter with a combo of adds + touchdown and a hit from jorm. If the adds did not exist then this would be much easier. I still agree with people saying its best for tank pt. While smns are good damage I never got resisted that much 400-600 damage per nuke can't just rule out blms entirely if anything for stuns.
If Roars are a big problem, tell your pld's not to engage and give him TP (i dont know if you always do, but for the few minutes i watched yesterday they were engaged). Also, you'll be able to gage how many casts you can get away with on the ground before he gets tp. Since he flies/touchdowns so often, you can get away with no tp on the ground and still do some dmg. When we used to take SMNs our blms wouldnt cast on the ground (and still dont since we stopped bringing them). The more you do it, the more used to its tp patterns you will get.
Our PLD's are always engaged. I prefer curing to pull hate over spirits within but whatever, I am not a PLD so I won't touch it.
I Have always been in the add party on every Jorm I have ever fought, either as BRD or WHM. And I can say with confidence that everytime PLd's would get low on mp and hate would then go to shit. Then the BLM's have to stop nuking and "go easy" etc. Hard for PLD to cure hate on a stunner or throw random cures to BLM's if they have to conserve enough for themselves. I use devotion almost every time the timer is up to help the PLD's out. Jorm also has roar, and we seem to fight the cranky Jorms a lot, so wouldn't it be nice after the PLD's hate gets wiped to throw some big cures around to quickly get it back. I know I would sure as hell like some cures after the PLD's lose hate and I get hit.
If you play PLD/NIN and you always have mp, you clearly are not doing your job.
Simple as this.
If your blms dont have enough mp to nuke down adds, then put the ghorn in the blm PT. If your dieing to adds because your mp is low your fight is going to suck.
If your plds arnt holding hate against the blms that are spamnuking jorm and the plds are out of MP. then put the Ghorn tank PT.
If your not having issues in the Tank PT, or are not having any problems with adds, then put it in the PT that does alot of dmg to kill jorm ASAP cause no one wants to sit there for 2 hours >_>;
- or just switch the brd through the PTs![]()
I never engage on Wyrms outside of Ouryu really, and on jorm especially it's not worth it for a possible roar not to mention paralyzing yourself on his spikes
I find it amazing that your BRD cant log hate every 15 mins or so... especially w/ Trebadour (spelling) you should have plent of time to log hate then get back online.
With logging hate I see no reason you cant pop the BRD into the tank, BLM, and SMN parties.
I do it for parry skill ups onry. Otherwise, it's fucking crap.Originally Posted by Krandor
As easy as it may sound, not a lot of people realize the benefit of logging out to reset your hate. The way we fight Tiamat is different than the Fafnir style. Only the tanks and DDs, when subbed in, are at his feet. The rest are down below. Sure, Tiamat does turn to the mages but so far this method has been working. On top of that, we've been allowed to use NIN/DRKs after so long and now Tiamat barely ever turns to the mages if not ever.Originally Posted by Fng

Works quite well on Tiamat. Or you could just bring 8 paladins and swap them in when one dies.Originally Posted by Krelian
