Sorry to bump this thread, but I was at an EB yesterday and saw they had the Silver Slims, and could not help myself. It is so fucking sexy, I cannot believe how small it is. Yes it does suck though that you can't put stuff on top of it, oh well.

Where is this remote that can turn it on and off? Or do you just mean that old PS2 dvd remote that came out 5 years ago? I'm so spoiled by 360 and Wii that I hate getting up to turn on my system.

Also, has anyone figured out how to make the PS2 recognize a WPA encrpyted wireless network, it just sat there forever not doing anything last night when I tried.

Will putting FFXI on a PS3 kill it? Its seem like FFXI killed every fat ps2 that anyone i knew that owned one.

There is a thread on this section devoted to that. Yes it works on PS3 is the short answer, search out that thread for more info.

FFXI didn't kill the PS2, the HDD did because for some reason it was taking up too much out of it.

Also, my "Fat" PS2 was chipped, so it got even more messed up (to the point where I could no longer play ANYTHING on it via a CD/DVD.)

FFXI will work on your PS3 if you know how to set it up, and as far as I know it doesn't do anything to it... but to be honest, you couldn't notice the PS2 was slowly but surely dying when you put FFXI on it in the first couple of months either, so who knows... I do think that the PS2 HDD was the problem, and therefore this won't be an issue with the PS3.

My 6 yr old has a slim PS2, and it works like a charm (hes had it for about 2yrs). 6 yr olds are not exactly gentle with things, so the Slim Ps2 is pretty resiliant. He uses it for games and DVD's flawlessly. I have heard rumors that people have gotten FFXI to work with a USB hard drive, but I cannot confirm this.

As far as the PS3, 1.5 fixed the jaggy problem mentioned earlier in this thread. Prior to it, I did notice the jaggyness of the PS2 games. After loading up 1.5, I notice no difference between the PS2 and PS3.
