I think they just held a ton off for the holidays and sent everything they had, and they're just way back on production now so it's taken them a good month to fix their numbers up and send a decent amount..

Stores were told dont expect any DS's till late january or early feb.
The system sells out everywhere :/
Im still finding it impossible to find a Wii in the UK, it's been out nearly 2 months now![]()
And did any of this outrageous marketing reflect in Nintendo's stock? I heard it didn't really go up. I must know so I can kick myself for not buying some when the Gamecube was unimpressing everyone.
there are still DS's at the futureshop near my college...
Ok... so I am sure you guys have heard about the DVD Playable version of the Wii that will be hitting Japan I am guessing.
I just heard that Nintendo have a true HD version of the console up there sleaves that "could" support upto 1080...
Reggie's has mentioned something along the lines of this "I don't see the point in releasing it until more people have HD-ready TV sets".
never heard of it, however, from what i've heard from nintendo they would rather NOT have a dvd player bundled with it, and i couldn't agree more. you can go out and buy a dvd player for like $30 these days. why increase the chance of your laser going out in your wii just to play a dvd, no thanks.
This shouldn't surprise anyone because nintendo does upgrades like this ALL the time, I can see this happening and everyone will flock and buy the new one. Funny thing is when other companys do this people bitch, like how people started bitching about the upgraded 360. I'm guessing if this is true it will happen christmas of 2007 and the new Wii will cost $300.Originally Posted by Sadler
It has never surprised me with there handheld consoles...Originally Posted by Nightstriker
Just cannot see what they are planning since its not like the Wii has an expansion slot.
I guess you never heard of nintendo's - or shall I say "Panasonic's"Originally Posted by izembo

Is that... the Q?
Yea it is.
And I cannot really ever remember Nintendo releasing an "updated" console. They have obviously done it with all these handhelds, but that is not as big a deal. I do not see a bigger better Wii anytime soon.
I'm more about the gameplay anyway.
Ninja edit: But they did do the expansion pack thing with the N64, although I could never really tell if there was a big difference.
I doubt they will release an updated Wii, unless they actually have the power inside the Wii's hardware, but it will take a firmware to unlock it.
As far as the DVD-player Wii.... who needs that? I'm sure 99% of the people who have a Wii also have a PS2/360/regular DVD player, so what's the point in adding that OR buying it for that matter?
Exactly. I think they used that reasoning to make their system the way they did, and possibly get the price a little lower while still profiting.Originally Posted by Exoduso
Yeah... well regardless, if the Wii's current hardware doesn't have something that we don't know about... and could potentially play games at 720p with an update or something, don't expect a new Wii to come out to replace the current one...
Sure, Nintendo does this alot with handhelds... but you can't really compare 100-150 dollar handhelds to a system. It would be a very bad idea on their part to release a new console, but I honestly don't even believe these rumors, unless they actually already have it in the hardware but aren't releasing it until there's a reason to make games in a higher resolution.
Thats prob why it will only be released in Japan.
I would buy it and sell my original in for a DVD Movie compatible version. T
hink about having a Movie channel for the Wii... that way it would check what DVD you have and give you info on actors and other cool info. The system in place in my opinion would work very well with an added DVD player option.
Yeah but it doesn't NEED a DVD player... what's the point?
Besides, i'm sure Nintendo will release stuff like that only in Japan, just like Sony releases Pink/Blue/White/Red/Yellow PS2s there.
I know it doesn't "Need" it... but it could be another selling point if they could pull it off without bumping the price up more than 50-60 Dollars.Originally Posted by Exoduso
Then again, I bet there are some people out there already creating a program designed to play movies on the Wii as it already is.
lol yeah probably... even though I still wouldn't do it to the lens, the cd "tray" seems really gentle as it is.
do i need to attach miis in the address book to send em? i thought theyd auto send or somethingOriginally Posted by Miltani
edit: when i say auto send i mean just like randomly travel to any of your friends thing at any given random time
