Wii availability

only way to get a Wii is to wait for the shipment dates from the suppliers. i work for gamestop currentyly and shipments come during the day and the store policy is to keep them til the next day, such as a big sale. it's annonunced and people are told to, 'check back on ____', your best bet is to get there about an hour early and just sit there and wait for the store to open. walk in, buy one of the maybe 5 wiis that have came in the day before, grab a zelda (they arnt hard to find) and your done.

I still cant even find any Wii accessories here in Canada (Oakville area near Toronto). I haven no problem at all finding a PS3.

I said I thought there was a better chance with a bigger retail store mainly because they get more consoles (you said so yourself, you guys only get around 5 per shipment, which i'm assuming is once a week? maybe twice?)

In a few weeks the Wii demand will go down, not because it's not wanted, but because people that want it are getting theirs and the lists are getting shorter. I'm sure that people will still be after it, but it won't be as bad the last couple of months have been.

And as for the PS3s.... unless Sony drops the 60gig to $500, I'm pretty sure they'll keep rotting in all the retail stores until July when MGS and Tekken are released.

The best advice I can give is go somewhere thats not crowded. Such as once the holidays are finally over [people/kids start going back to work/school] you go to the mall and wait for your Wii like I suggested. You'd have a better chance of getting one where its not busy rather than 9999 customers in Walmart that would buy a Wii no matter their age.

I bought my 2nd Nunchuk (2nd wiimote was included in the gamestop bundle, but no second nunchuk ; off Ebay for about the same price it would've retailed for (I think I paid 29 dollars or so, with shipping included it wasn't so bad), and a Classic controller for about 35.

Even though I've gotta say, Bestbuy and Gamestop seem to have a bunch of them in stock. (Circuit City and Walmart have them as well, but they get sold out pretty quickly.)

Again, it's all about picking your spots and checking with the retail stores in your area.

I'm not so sure. The interesting thing about the Wii is once somebody gets it, he/she is sure to show people and the thing is so likable and fun that those people often end up wanting one, thus creating perpetual demand due to perpetual growth. So it might take a while.

That is the main reason I buy all my stuff at the EBgames in my area... it's about a mile from my house, and it's in a center where it's not really noticeable. They still get plenty of customers, but I can pretty much walk in there the day something releases and pick it up without having to reserve it in the first place (they are also very good with getting their shipments on time.)

I was saying this mainly because Nintendo promised to do more frequent shipments of the Wii in Q1.

I wouldn't trust Sears for anything really... K-Mart maybe, but you would have to try to contact them on a daily basis and find out, because on the off chance that they do get some, they will only receive a small quantity.

Gonna be the same for me, i'm sick of calling places to have nasty teenagers answer the phone and hang up on me abruptly. Unless one of my friends can hook me up with an extra one they got, or one of my friends that works somewhere can hold one, I'll be getting mine when it's as common as a ps3.

You could do that.... but to be honest, unless you put SOME kind of effort into it, you're not gonna get one. You have to be in constant contact with the retailers in your area, or it's not going to work until like... the end of Q2.

I doubt it'll be as commonplace as the lolps3... But I see what you're saying, it can get quite annoying... (I kept calling random stores to see if they have Nunchuks, and many of the people that pick the phones up either don't have time for you or they just don't care.)

I'm haveing the same problem. I've called every EB games, Gamestop, Circuit City, Walmart, and K-mart in Norfolk every day since christmas. I have TP and a gift card for a Wii, but no Wii ; ;

For some reason I hadn't thought of Fry's in my Wiisearch, mostly because I've been living down in Santa Barbara for the last two years, but now I'm back up in SF where I'm more familiar with what's around. When ToAU came out, I was shocked to see that EB in Santa Barbara (old/rich people/tourist town) was cleaned out of them. But I am going to assume that it's because UCSB is so close and there's probably 2 game retailers in the entire area until you get down to Ventura.

I had higher hopes of video game availability up in the silicon valley because of just the sheer amount of retailers, usually 2-3 in every damn mall as well as 1 in each surrounding plaza. Not to mention huge retailers like Best Buy and Fry's being in every city up here just about. I used to have connections at Campbell Fry's and some nearby Gamestops but they have since moved on to better things, I hope. The only solid data I'm depending on right now is that the dude at Best Buy told me to "check back early next week" which is when he expected to get some more Wiis in, which is this week, and I called, and got another slut with a rude "we don't have any in stock." *click* However, in recent light of complete retards working in no particular department in stores with the size of Best Buy or Fry's, it's really difficult to trust what the person who answers the phone thinks about what's going on in the back of receiving. I just don't have the time to be driving around to each retailer to make sure that the chode on the phone wasn't lying to me.

I had just hoped that the demand would have fallen below the supply by at least a tiny tiny bit a week or two after people are done making their Christmas purchases. I suppose there's just more people like me than I expected. I was trying to get my hands on one while I'm up here and hanging out with friends before I go back south and sit in my shitty apartment by myself instead of doing work.

Listen, you have got to understand that many people got gift cards instead of the Wii because they couldn't find any for them... and now these people are using these gift cards to purchase them.

Which is why I said, you should wait a couple more weeks until the Holiday craze is OFFICIALLY over, and then your chances of getting a hold of one will be raised tramendously.

A friend of mines who works at best buy said, there wont be any Wii shipments for a while due to the recall on Wiimotes. Dunno if its true but the gamespots in my area said the same thing as Lbelle .

It may make sense, since all the Wiis had a Wiimote and a Nunchuk inside of the box.

If that is the case though, that kind of sucks.
