I got three of my friends to play...
Sadly, they got level 10, 6 and 6. They then quit for WoW.
Sometimes Id really like to, but some issues have held me back. Reasons Id like to are mostly focused around the fact that I hate when something fucking amazing happens (i.e. D-Ring drops) and I go out to my three roommates (not FF or MMO savvy people) who are watching TV or something and there is just no way to relate the situation to them accurately / competently. It'd be nice to be able to go out and be like "just CFHed on RMT's Kirin" or something and have someone know what the hell you're talking about. So that's why Id like to get a friend into it.
The downside is the learning curve, too steep for them to reach my level in any appreciably short amount of time. Meh.
Come to think of it, of the original group of people who started playing, only me and one other person are still playing. The two people I got to start afterwards however are still here! although one of them never got their warrior past 32 if you know what I mean
I got 1 person to play, and they quit at lvl 5 and went to WoW ._., only other person I knew well irl who plays FFXI has aegis now X_x
I was only partly responsible for one person. I played with a bunch of people that I worked with, and the majority of them no longer play except one person. He's actually two people, a set of twins, on the same character. He's treated as one person though lol.
I got 6 people to play, but sadly all but one quit along time ago. 4 of them are playing WoW now.
1 and he's broken.
6 joined. 6 quit. 5 joined WoW. 1 joined Guild Wars.
1 rejoined recently from WoW. And proceeds to bitch about how much better WoW is compared to FFXI, every single time he levels up. About anything he can.
Needless to say, it's headache inducing.

Just one person; he quit within a month.
I was brought over from Eve Online and I'm the only one left from our pirate corporation, Space Invaders. I think WoW got them all.
4, but only 1 actually kept playing
and i never apologized to any of them
1... he's been around a long time but is kinda scarce now.
That's a little better.Originally Posted by Lordwafik

They played until they moved out (61 PLD and 18 BST/30 WHM respectively), but used that as the time to quit (we were all on the same account because they started right after I did, and we had no idea how much that would suck later, or that we'd all want to keep playing). If they wanted to start again, I'd just hook up/powerlevel/etc. their new characters.
A former co-worker from Australia started on another server and got to level 3, and I gave her a world pass; I was a 60 BRD at the time. She got to 75 BRD some time after I did, and proceeded to get all the good BRD AF2 and AF+1 long before I did (still don't have the hat), which is pretty funny. Dynamis hates my linkshell (she's in a different one).

1, he was a total noob. But under my watchful elitist hawk eye i would have made him a god, just ask Sath (XCALIBRE NEVER HAPPENED).
He quit a few months later cause his parents forced him to.
