I got my cousin to try, who still plays. He levels pretty slow though... over a year and he's just about to hit 56. lol
He's Sik, if any of you Bahamutts feel like harrassing him, I encourage it.

Two, but neither lasted more than a month.![]()
1. Got his Kazham Keys for him then he quit.
I believe it's around 7 or so. 6 of them quit in less than 3 months but 1 is still playing until today.
Recently 1 friend of mine wanted to try out ff but i tell him to stay the hell away from this game if he treasures his life.
6 people because of me.
1. I got my friend to play.
2. His wife got interested.
3. Our mutual friend got interested.
4. His wife got interested.
5. #2's friend's husband got interested.
6. #2's paramour (yes, she was cheating on my friend)
Only first friend and person 5 ... are still playing, with friend's wife logging on every so often.
Note: I voted for 5, but remembered the 6th as I was typing this. I hate #2, that #%#$.
What's the motive for quitting? I don't know, yeah it can be a pain and takes awhile. But I mean, can't you solo to 60 in WoW in 2 weeks if you wanted to.
That to me does not make me want to play it, part of the point of MMO is....MMO.
I don't know, but I've known so many people that quit then come back it's kind of funny.
The only way i'll really stop playing this is when the server's stop. Why would I spend 3 years of time and money (monthy fee, not RMT) to just drop it.
The game's not like renovating a house, I'd like to enjoy what I did.
Maybe it's just me....
0 for me, but I'll vote the 1 that Mierin forgot XD

Convinced my best friend at the time I started to start with me.
Shortly after, convinced another friend (to both of us) to join as well.
Third friend said he wanted to play, but didn't have a good enough computer, so I sold him my old one. He quit after a month.
First friend and I both took a break after a real short time, and my second friend got to 75 in the time we were away. After coming back, the first friend got to 69, at which point he got a girlfriend, and has hardly touched the game since then.
I "convinced" (ie tricked) my girlfriend into playing (showed her the character creation screen, she went crazy). Unfortunately it was on my main account, so then I had to buy another, then make her start over as a Taru (named after a infamous mouse, well...the Missez of this "mouse", and in mouse I mean Jingles), 2 years later and 4+ 70+jobs (Me:75RNG/RDM/THF/74BST/69BLU | Her:75WHM/BLM/BRD/SMN/69PLD), I think she into the game, but I'm bored, so I used the same trick to get her to play WoW. :D
So, if you ever want your girlfriend to play a MMO with you, show her the character creation screen it MIGHT work. Of course, you can just have her make the character to look like them then be like "Oh yeah, look at that I can control your ass now." and then she'll be like "WTF? Put back her clothes on" then you're like "::breathes heavily:: Nah, I think I'll rub butter on my nipples" and then... ah shit I started rambling again. Anyhow yeah...character creation screens works wonders.
My g/f made my one mule.
Other than that, forget it. She's a girly girl. lol.
I first read the title of this thread as:
"How many people did you trick into playing FFXI?"

Showing any character customization involving pretty clothing/hair or cute pets will get girlfriends into it. As stereotypical as that sounds.
didn't you bring rob and splam too?Originally Posted by Bagel

QFT. Took my g/f awhile to make a character in Tony Hawk Downhill Jam for DS, and I downloaded her that desperate housewives game for PC...LOL forget it.Originally Posted by miokomioko
Four. One stared as a friend of mine, then he got his brother, and then his father into FFXI. Subsequently, they've all migrated to WoW or are not playing MMOs anymore. The fourth was a political associate of mine who used to be a hard-core EQ player back in the day. I don't think he'll stick it out in FFXI though; just had his second kid and the kind of time FFXI demands is hard to find with a newborn and a 6 year-old.
I put 7, but all but one quit before they ever got past 20. The one got RDM to 75, took a long break, but still pops on occasionally.
On a sad note, the guy that got me to play, he was in the PS2 beta and showed me screens all the time back then. When it finally got released he kind of just dorked around, never got any jobs past 30's and I hit 75 on two jobs. Then he stopped playing for a little bit, ran in to him at a club, and three weeks after that he committed suicide after breaking up with a girl he dated for a few months.
That's one hell of a sad note.
My condolences.
If I lived anywhere near the guy that got me into FFXI I would stab him to death with a rusty screwdriver.
i would like too, but its my brother, lol
