The guy that got me playing quit like 3 weeks later. I proceeded to 75 NIN WAR DRK MNK BRD SAM RDM and waste 3 or so years of my life.

All I got for that was 700 bucks when I RMTed my ID a few weeks ago.

Wow, that's really similar to my story. Although I don't have as many 75s, the guy who got me started was all "hey, come play this MMO with me" and I was all "k." He quit at NIN45/RDM22 lol and here I am almost three years later.

i got most of the uae players that play now intrested or into playing this game..

i was playing in a net cafe *still am lulz* and ppl made fun of the game then a little by little everyone joined lol

My main regret is not selling my ID a year ago before the game died out.

I didn't do shit besides AFK in whitegate and merit pointless shit anyway.

Would have been able to get around 2k back when people still wanted to play the game.

Got 4. All of them and I played the same MMO together at a point. 1 quit FFXI after his free trial ended (reached lvl 18 solo, he hated Dunes after his first pt). The other reached 65 RDM and went back to our previous MMO. The other 2 got pissed @ Valkurm Dunes (though one of them stayed until he got to Kazham) and also went back to our previous MMO.

I work at EB games. I don't know exactly how many people, including friends, that I have gotten to play this game. When I suggest it at work, I don't blindly suggest it as "zomg FFXI rulz." I straight up tell them the fallouts of this game and how long it takes to do anything or get anywhere. They either like that idea, or like most, don't. So then I suggest WoW to those who like insta-gratification gaming.

My boss got me to play this when it came out on PS2 (Everyone at work at the time was already playing it) At that time I probably got 5-6 other friends to play (Locally I have a very amount of "gaming" friends, probably 30+ friends /acquaintances that I know play MMOs). The only 2 people I know within my local ring I know that still play, play on other servers and have been playing even before me. Other then that, everyone else quit long ago for WoW.

Over the course of me working for EB(4 years) I suggest this game for MMO lookers to about 10+ people a month.(These are people who I think would like the content FFXI offers). How many still play, or actually tried it out, I don't know.

Three people.

First one of my friends from High School, he started on Slyph with me and quit on and off. Now he has a new char on Bahamut because his work friends are there. I told him he was better off because Sylph sucks anyway lulz.

Then I got my roommate to play. He really liked it but quit because his girlfriend is a bitch (well, thats my opinion, he might try to tell you otherwise).

And finally got my own girlfriend to play, she only wanted to play because the tarus were cute. Then she got to the dunes and suddenly lost all interest in playing lol.

2! One was named Creeps and was BLM75 on asura then migrated to remora and renamed himself Spork or something retarded like that.

And the other was named Schlegel and he quit at MNK11 because he didnt want to pay the monthly fee.

I never played WoW, nor do I want to, I can't play a MMO for 3+ years then drop it and start a new one.

Anyway, is the game just easier, it sounds like WoW's a Fuzzy Naval and FFXI's a straight shot of whiskey.
