The Bew is more like a quick "pee you" sound (in 1 syllable), hence the spelling "Beau", and the "ə" is a sort of "uhh" sound but for e instead of u. But you all should know about the "ə" if you're past like grade 9.
EX-AR-CA-BARD IMO
OK - so how would you pronounce Temple of Uggalepih?
All very easy. Simply take the Japanese name for each and look at how it would be pronounced in Japanese. This will give you a good idea of what a proper English pronunciation would be.Originally Posted by Stilgar
Byakko (びゃっこ) is a bit tricky to pronounce properly in English because the first two consonants are not found together in any English words I can think of. I see most people approximating 'bya' (one syllable) into 'bi-ah' (two syllables), which is acceptable for English speakers. The second syllable in the Japanese pronunciation is also tricky for English speakers, but simply transliterating the Japanese pronunciation into 'bi-ah-ko' seems good enough to me.
Other place names are obviously French and German words. If you're familiar with either language you can pretty easily figure out a close enough approximation in English that doesn't sound stupid. Beadeaux turning into 'beh-doh' suffices. There are probably some nasal vowels in there I simply can't produce. Don't ask me to try pronouncing Bostaunieux Oubliette though.
As for some of the others: Caedarva (kuh-dar-vah), Wajaom (wah-juhm), Beaucedine (bo-suh-deen). I'll add a few more: Al'Taieu (all-tah-you), Uleguerand (oool-geh-rahn), Uggalepih (ooo-gah-lep).
If everyone knew how to read IPA, this would be a lot easier. XD
EDIT: If you're familiar with Japanese pronunciation rules, then http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Auto-Translator:_In-Depth will definitely help you out. Just scroll down to place names. They have both Japanese and romaji in there.
"Beau" has roots in French. It would be pronounced "boe"Originally Posted by WizerdRemora

First person saying something wierd like "Sayn-douh-roahsdasd" is going to get me pissed! :P
It's San like in "sanatory", do like in "dominate" and the ria is pronounced the same way english-speaking persons pronounce rea in the word "real".
I gave up trying to pronounce that the first time I saw it. If I have to refer to it in the real world, it's called Temple of Ugly People. They'll understand.Originally Posted by Cesaria

This will sound (look) strange because writing down sounds just doesn't justify it's beauty *cough*Actually, I think I even pronounce them little words differently because I'm not english (i'm dutch). I did use some english words which sound the same
(like How and Grand)
Caedavre Kuh-Deh-Ver (kind of like Cadaver)
Wajaom Wa-Joom
Beaucedine Bo-Suh-Deen
AlTaieu Al-Tah-Jo
Uleguerand Uh-Le-Grand
Uggalepih Uh-glah-peh
Haubergeon How-bur-gone

Being French on TS is kind of funny sometimes, lol.
- Beadeaux would be "Bah-Doh" or "Boh-Doh" not so sure, though most English speakers pronounce it "Bee-Doh".
- Beaucedine is "Bo-Suh-Deen". I can't really find any sound in English to say "Ce" but it'd be something like "Suh" I guess.
- Temple of Uggalepih, "You-Gah-Lee-Pee" though everyone just say "Temple of Ugly".
- Haubergeon, "Oh-Bur-Jon".
- AlTaieu, "Al-Tai-Uh".
- Bostaunieux Oubliette, "Boss-To-Nee-Uh Ou-Blee-Yet". To say "Ou" take "You" and remove "Y" (now I write it, it sounds kind of stupid), but basically, just take the last sound in "You"... Or just say "Oh-Blee-Yet", lol.
