Anything that starts with "Beau" is pronounced as "bo" or "bow" as in bow and arrow. It's French for beautiful. Also anything ending with -aux such as "faux" is pronounced /ˈfoʊ/, like "foe" it's a French word for false or fake. A lot of the places in the game are inspired by French culture, especially San d'Oria and the naming convention they use.

I have done this repeatedly on accident on ventrilo but i always correct myself. The reason for it is what you think when you type it in game. When i type im saying words in my head as i type. And if i thought "Dark knight" and typed "DRK" id get confused. So i just think D R K. When i say it on vent it just slips out, and ill say "err... dark knight lol"

I really dont mind hearing most said wrong unless its obvious that they havent even looked at the word and tried to break it down. Like... Byakko's haidate. Fine, if its High- dot- ay, i say high-dot, and im sure it doesnt bother anyone. But when someone says stuff like "Lets go get you some High Dates" i do shake my head.

I just got corrected the other day when i said "OH YOU-ZOO-CANE Body get!!" and an ls member goes "Gah, you mean YOU-Zoo-Con-Aye?" Meh, i americanized it

1st I will say I am american and english/american is about the worst language for pronunciation ever. Don't believe me then here pronounce this; ghoti.

    gh as in tough
    o as in women
ti and in the sufex tion

    ghoti = fish.

oubliette = oubliette - definition of oubliette by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

Here is one that really only applies to my server. several people have debated on how to pronounce my name. Some will remember my name from Xenogears. But in my memory I confused Lacan ( Lacan - definition of Lacan by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia. ) with the first village, Lahan.
Yea so I'm a village. But how do you pronounce it?

    Lahan

    La like lay down baby!
La like La la la laaaa
La like lick (see the Lacan link above)
    han like ouch my hand!
    han like I'm Han Solo!

I have always used, La (lay) han (solo)

oh well great thread it just made me think of everyone in vent trying to say my name lol

The nursery rhyme that the npc is teaching to the new Cardians in Windurst had me wondering about how to pronounce La Theine Plateau.

"The rain in La Theine comes mainly in the plains... " something like that.

Also the emphasis on dynamis. Wonder if it is Die-NAH-mis or Dienah-MIS or Die-nuh-mis with no emphasis on any part of the pronunciation.

    Xarcabard- (Zah,ka,bahd)

Byakko- (Biya,ko) There's a glottal stop for the double 'k' sound as pronounced in Japanese. Listen to how you pronounce the ck in checker when you say it. The same is applied for Byakko.

    Pso'Xja- (Soh-jah)

    Beadeaux- (Beh,doe)

    garlaige citadel- (Gah,layj Sit,ah,del)

    AlTaieu- (Al,tai,oo)

    Leviathan - (leh,vai,ah,fan)

    Behemoth - (Beh,hee,moth)

Apart from Byakko, Leviathan & Behemoth which I'm 100% certain the others are just how I pronounce them.

The actual "Correct" answer is that there is no correct pronunciation for any of these things because we're talking about a fictional universe with no guide to it's orthography or the sound inventories of it's inhabitants(because they never speak...).

So pronounce however the hell you want to, you're as correct as everyone else saying they're correct.

There isn't even such a thing as correct pronunciation IRL where we do have those things, because like all things language, there's no one with actual authority, and the same words are pronounced differently between dialects of the same language, and are all "correct".

    lol prescription.

^ This. I try to follow French/Japanese/English(ish) pronounciations depending on where the word originates or what it looks like.

Einherjar and most of the mobs there take their names from old Norse mythology so they follow Swedish/Norwegian/Danish kinda pronounciation. The good old Aegishjalmr, Fafnir, Nidhogg, Jormungand etc. etc. are from the same source too.

Einherjar pronunciation at 0:21-0:27. There aren't any major spoilers in the video about the game.
